    March Cycling: 409.33 km (254.34 miles) = 21 hours 55 min
    April Cycling: 384.15 km (238.7 miles) = 20 hours 35 min
May Cycling: 259.06 km (160.9 miles) = 14 hours 5 min (including 45 min on trainer)

It is winter. The sun is setting at 4:45 pm, there's snow on the mountain, and it is cold. But happily, this is the month where daylight hours will start increasing again ... just need to make it through June. :)

    June Totals

01 Mon - 60 min on bicycle on trainer

03 Wed - 50 min on bicycle on trainer

06 Sat - 100 kilometre ride on our Bike Friday Pocket Llamas (folding bikes). The route was relatively flat, but had the added challenge of rain for the first half of the ride. Fortunately it was a warm day for winter, and wasn't at all windy for a change!

That was the longest distance we have ridden the folding bikes so far. It was kind of a test ride to see how we would go over that distance. We were reasonably comfortable. I was having a few back/right hip issues, but stretching seemed to help.

100.72 km in 6 hours 25 min 34 sec total.
(Moving time was 5 hours 31 min 26 sec)

08 Mon - 60 min on bicycle on trainer

09 Tues - 45 min on bicycle on trainer in basement

    14 Sun - 14.06 km cycling outside (45 min)
    15 Mon - 37.6 km cycling outside (115 min)

    Sub-Totals
June Cycling Inside: 215 minutes on bicycle on trainer in basement
June Cycling Outside: 152.38 km (94.68 miles) in 490 min cycling outside

Great to see a cycling thread! I have a Raleigh sprite that i've had about 20 years. I'm a little curious to see what a lighter frame would feel like but my bike's been good to me. I've been cycling a fair bit this year. I wish I'd kept a tally but will try to from now on. Mostly fine stone rail trails. Group rides and solo rides and also with my husband. It's my favorite thing to do on a sunny day.

@princessreeree - four options to consider for tracking distance:

    1) Get an overall fitness app for your phone (google/apple fit, moves), and it'll track everything without requiring any start/stop as long as it is in your pocket/saddle bag/etc.. (along with your steps, running miles, walking miles, etc..)
    2) Get a riding specific app for your phone (mapmyride, strava) and start/stop it before each ride
    3) Get a bike computer (anywhere from $5-$300) and install it along with the magnet sensor on your fork/wheel which counts rotations, and based on your tire size will tell you your speed, miles traveled, average speed, etc.. the more expensive ones use wireless sensors, GPS, and count how often you turn your crank (important if you are training to race)
    4) Crack open google maps and re-map your route (streets only) with waypoints, which'll give you total distance based on roads, etc..

The new wheels definitely ride like a dream and spin up pretty quickly. They aren't quite as solid as my ksyriums on my main road bike, but it was definitely worth spending $135 on the new wheels (R501) and tires (lithion 2) for a $160 city commuter bike (Walmart Denali). I just put about 23 miles on them today meandering around town as I fine tuned the rear derailleur to accommodate the new cassette & bigger granny gear (32). Got to also check out my local bike museum as well.

    6/1 - 15 miles
    6/2 - 6 miles
    6/4 - 65 miles
    6/5 - 50 miles
    6/9 - 12 miles

    6/13 - 12 miles
    6/14 - 12 miles
    6/15 - 13 miles + 5 miles (expresso)
    6/16 - 23 miles

    Goal: 500 miles
    Remaining: 227 miles

New wheels are now on my commuter, subtracting about 4lb (which is helpful with the hills and the 3 flights of stairs I'm carrying my bike up this week), but I'll need to adjust the brakes for the narrower rims, and do some derailleur tuning tomorrow to line things up with the new cassette (despite the addition of a spacer). New crank & bottom bracket won't go on until next week.

Is the colorful bike in your profile the one your bike / the one you added the wheels to?

Checking in again! I've now got a total of 122 miles in the bag, after cycling a good 16 miles today and 23 miles the other! I feel pretty darn awesome :)

As of today, June 16th, I have cycled 150 miles in total and am 100 miles from my goal. I've been including more uphill and strenuous cycling into my routine and feeling good!

Rowan (my husband) and I completed a ride we have been talking about and preparing for for a while. We rode a century (100 miles) on our Bike Friday Pocket Llamas (folding bikes)!

We didn't break any speed records, but ...

We set off shortly after 9 am and rode with my father about 14 km, then he returned home and we continued on ... to Hope. The route is a little bit hilly out that way, but nothing too significant. We flew into Hope with an increasing wind behind us, but knew that we'd be into it on the way back.

So we stopped at DQ for some fuel ... chili cheese dogs and blizzards.

Returning to our start location wasn't too bad at first, but the last 7 or 8 km were a slog ... right into that ever-increasing wind.

    118 km complete!

We stopped for more fuel and then made a decision about where to go next. We decided it would work best for us to cycle into the wind, and then to return with a tailwind.

The route we chose zig-zagged into the wind so that sometimes it was, again, a slog, but other times not too bad. And finally, we turned around and cruised home. We would have done the trip home a lot quicker if we hadn't been as worn out as we were. The wind takes it out of a person ... and I was experiencing one particular fit issue which we'll need to sort out if we're going to entertain the idea of doing longer rides on our Bike Fridays

Nevertheless ... our first century (100 miles) this year is complete. :) And we did it in 9 hours and 40 min, including all breaks, which is well within rando time.

And along the way we saw ... planes and trains ... and cows, horses, goats, hawks, crows, geese, cats and dogs ...
    Kept us entertained!

The colorful one is my fixie for guests down in Florida (also a cheap Wal-Mart special I've over-upgraded with new crank, seat, pedals, and brakes).

The new wheels are for my commuter bike that I keep up north in Pittsburgh to commute to/from Pirate games (as I've had 2 bikes stolen up there - it isn't NYC or SFO, but I've had bad luck). I did the Pittsburgh to DC 330 mile trip (in 3 days) on it last year and have a bit of a love/hate relationship with it. I almost did the trip again this week (would have used my old 700x32 wheels for the C&O towpath) as the Pirates are playing the Nationals Friday-Sunday, but ended up returning to Florida for the weekend instead to do some fishing.
