    It means mass producing plastic "cheese" like substances and calling them cheese.
    context is important.

    I'm pretty sure by "plastic" they mean American singles or Velveeta.

    I've recently decided to cut dairy also. I was diagnosed as allergic when I was a child but developed a tolerance as I got older. I'm beginning to think I'm not as tolerant as I think.

    I read that eating cholesterol foods does not cause high cholesterol. Cholesterol is made in the liver and you need cholesterol for proper functioning of cell membranes and brain Health. It could be hereditary. My total cholesterol is high but my doc says there are new guidelines now and my risk factors are low. So I don't need to take those statin drugs with potential damaging side affects. I'm 55 years old. My healthy cholesterol hdl is 62 which is very good. My LDL is the one that is out of range. My weight loss doc told me that excess carbs and too much sugar in the diet causes high cholesterol. Hope this info is useful to you.

    I haven't cut it out completely, but I have drastically reduced the amount of cheese I eat. Considering I could sit and eat 8oz of sharp cheddar with crackers, drink a bottle of wine and call it a snack, I think it was a necessary adjustment.

    Cheese is delicious, but it's also a major contributor to other health issues such as eczema and allergies in the sinuses. I stopped eating cheese several years ago and no longer deal with these issues. My skin also cleared up quite a bit.

    I've stopped eating cheese and meat (except maybe once a month) because of high cholesterol also. I lost 65 lbs and my bad cholesterol was still high enough to qualify for statins immediately.

    In my case, my bad cholesterol dropped a HUGE amount in about 4 weeks by doing this and also (a) taking Benecol chews (only available online), and (b) replacing animal fats with seeds and nuts to keep my fat intake pretty high. I do still eat fish a couple of times a week and switched to completely non-fat dairy. I do have a daily egg, and don't worry about dietary cholesterol intake.

    Honestly, I love cheese too, but with such a significant improvement in my cholesterol, it's a no-brainer for me and has been incredibly easy. My understanding is that the saturated fat-cholesterol connection is not the same for everyone, but there's only one way to find out if it works for you, and that's to give it a go and then get retested in about a month. I've found logging in MFP to make sure I get polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats in and monitoring my saturated fat intake to be incredibly useful.

    My bad chorestorl is 183 and my good is 42 and I'm only 20 my gp told me to start taking statins but idk I'm so young I'm thinking of seeing a specialist

    Cardio exercise will boost your good cholesterol. The higher the good cholesterol the better.

    Often overlooked is stress as a contributing factor to cholesterol levels.

    A friend of mine lost grandfather, father, and brothers to heart attacks. The men weren't that old. The entire male line is plagued by high blood pressure. He started taking blood pressure medications early in life and he is still around to tell the tale. If you happen to be one of those people congenitally predisposed to high cholesterol, you may have to reconcile yourself to pills.

    I understand the the thought process but the thought of eliminating cheese makes me so sad. I'm pretty sure I eat goat cheese 3x a week. I think salads are boring without it

    High cholesterol can be genetic.. see your doctor. You need to know what is high.. the over number and/or your LDL & Triglycerides? I have CRAZY high Triglyceride, I have to cut out simple carbs and unhealthy fats. Cheese is not a bad thing for most diets.. but if you are serious try the Paleo Diet plan.

    So if your problem is cholesterol, I would ask your Dr or dietician what foods to cut out. Cheese alone won't do it. I lowered my husband's in 30 days by 37 points by having him replace red meat with white meat, no egg yolks, and yes, no dairy. If you want to cut your cholesterol fast and drastically, I recommend eating more vegetables (upping your fiber) and subbing out any red meats you eat for lean white meat or fish...and try to limit the dairy. Like most people have said, have it in moderation. BUT I'm not a Dr and that's the best resource for advice on medical issues :)
