I had bathroom issues and had to walk the last part of my run. Ugh! Otherwise great run. I ran to and from my group run again this week. I like being able to get a bit of a longer run in during the week. Still behind on my miles though.

@autumnblade75 - that is interesting about your APPs - how does the CharityRun work with Runkeeper? Do they all try to measure GPS distance? I run with MapMyRun, music and my HRM and that's it. I am thinking about getting the new FitBit GPS watch/HRM all in one. I would still take my phone for safety and music though.
@JoRocka - awesome getting your run done at 6pm in the heat! I just wouldn't go... which is why I run in the morning.
@skippygirlsmom - sometimes my tracker doesn't update in MFP initially but if I refresh the screen it will update. We are still neck and neck with our mileage but I think you have moved a bit a head of me!
    @karllundy - have a wonderful vacation!
@7lenny7 - I think you will be awesome in the 5k and both 10ks! You have so got this!!
@Elise4270 - I agree with @skippygirlsmom, you can never have/spend too much on running gear! I have found certain Nike (Epic compression) and UA shorts work really well. They aren't $10 but I buy them at the outlet so they aren't full price either
@jtarmom - Yay you on getting back to a 5k and not pushing yourself to go too far too soon!

Got up super early this morning to run before the heat and my 1st very early meeting call. Was out the door at first light and got to see the sun rise through breaks in the marine layer clouds - beautiful! It was so cool and wonderful out and the trail was empty! I just ran with an eye on my watch so I was home in time for my meeting. I was pleasantly surprised once I was home to see that my pace was a bit faster today than my 'Race Pace' run on Tuesday (10:12 vs 10:15) and my HR was lower (maxed out at 130 vs 141 on Tuesday).
It was considerably cooler (63 vs 80) but higher humidity at 98% today.

would like to read when I get home- blocked at work. I'm wondering how I'm going to balance even less time with an out of town skewed weekend relationship (I'm standard 8-5 M-F employee- he works Fri- Tues and works 3-11 PM :( and I have dance classes when he's here on Thursday)

Anyway- I'm speculating- I need to read before I comment more.
@JoRocka - awesome getting your run done at 6pm in the heat! I just wouldn't go... which is why I run in the morning.
@shanaber dude- seriously- it was the pits. But I struggle to get up on time for work much less get up early to go do things I want to do. Starting end of july I'm guessing that's going to change- I cant' do tan lines- and I can't get burnt (can't- is a strong word- REALLY REALLY don't want to) the whole dance thing- tan lines look REALLY silly in a costume!!!

    And it's hot.
So yeah- I'm gonna need to get up- esp with mileage expecting to creep up higher through August. I'll die!!! LOL

Also dude- 115- killing it!! nicely done!

@jorocka it's a long article too - I'm surprised it wasn't blocked here. The company is doing this fitness thing and they give us a link to go to, it's blocked LOL hello it's a link you gave us stupid. That's a hard relationship schedule you have going there. Especially if he's not local.
@shanaber what is funny is in past posts it updated the ticker it just didn't for this one post. We are going to get our 120 at the same time :star: Great run today!
@briebee7 I wonder if the heat is getting everyone's tummy these days.

I'm at 32.5km for the month! Should get another 15km on that before the month is out. I'm feeling great about running at the moment, *touch wood* my injuries are being kept at bay with stretches, a well-planned running programme and some strength training too. I even beat my 5km PB on Tuesday! Ran it in 28:31 on a hilly route, couldn't have been happier!

@JoRocka - I have tan lines... cute ones (not) low on my ankles and on my shoulders from my tanks. I am not supposed to have tan lines per the dermatologist, I am too dark, my freckles are running together now :ohwell: which is what happens when a redhead runs and gets too much sun, even in the mornings and with sunscreen. Honestly he told me to cover up head to feet when I run and gave me a catalog of terrible non-running clothes. As if that will ever happen!

@skippygirlsmom and @briebee7 - I realized reading your comment and looking back at my running log that I have issues mostly on the days when it has been so hot!

@ddmom0811 - my trainer also cancelled and suggested I go to the gym on my own tonight... I know I really should but really not feeling it so maybe tomorrow

@louubelle16 belle - glad your injuries have been beaten down and you are feeling good running again!
    @annekka - Congratulations hitting goal!

@skippygirlsmom and @shanaber - I wish I could blame heat. However I live on the central coast of CA. "Heat" for us is 70. :P I am guessing I ate too much dairy or something yesterday. Yuck!

@JoRocka - I completely understand your tan line adversion. I don't have bad ones now (see above comment about our lack of warm weather!). However I used to live in a hot weather climate and would dread having tan lines with a fancy dress. I imagine dance costumes are 10x worse!

@shanaber: Charity Miles works independently of RunKeeper - all 3 of my apps seem to query the GPS separately. Charity Miles can also work with the accelerometer (HAH! For a 4 mile run, I am credited less than 1/10th of a mile - I KNOW I don't run THAT gently.) in your phone, say, if you want to use the treadmill - that seems to be a relatively new feature. You just choose a sponsor and run your miles, and they claim to send cash to your charity; the dollar value is determined by how many miles you run. I believe they credit 25 cents for each mile. 10 cents per mile for bicycling.

I think the money is capped, so each sponsor has already earmarked a certain number of funds to donate to charity, and by running, you are granted a vote in where their charity dollars are spent. It doesn't seem as satisfying as actually donating my own cash, but I'm not rich, so it's better than nothing.

My tan lines motivate me to get out there and make sure they are noticeable. Like @shanaber I have sock lines, bra lines, chest strap lines(barely), shorts lines, and tank lines. LOL! I sound like a zebra! For me they are like a badge of commitment. And I grew up where you spent all summer in the pool. No one but my doc sees them. (I don't think my husband has noticed).

I'm totally diggin' running with minimal pain. I do have a shin splints that threatening to become a problem.

@briebee7 I think I'm the queen of GI issues. I feel your pain. On one of my runs I thought it may be a good idea to start wearing an extra sock, (one destined for the trash) in case I needed to duck in the trees for an emergency. That's just sad. (And I'm jealous of your temps  ).

Running buddy suckered me into doing some speed work at the track today as part of my 6-miler. Ended up doing 8x400s, but I'm glad I finally resumed some of that type of training as I hadn't done a pace run in a few weeks and aside from hills ("intervals in disguise") hadn't done much speedwork.

    6/2 - 5 miles
    6/3 - 4.5 miles
    6/4 - 5 miles
    6/6 - 0.5 miles
    6/7 - 10 miles

    6/10 - 7 miles
    6/11 - 6 miles
    6/12 - 6 miles
    6/14 - 15 miles
    6/15 - 8 miles
    6/16 - 6 miles
    6/17 - 4 miles
    6/18 - 1 mile (pre lifting treadmill)
    6/21 - 6.5 miles (1.5 treadmill + 5 outdoors)
    6/22 - 10 miles
    6/23 - 6 miles
    6/24 - 6 miles
    6/25 - 6 miles (including 8x400s at 6 min/mile pace)

Had to post this pix for folks who have doggies that just don't want to run:

@ddmom0811 you are thisclose to goal - you can make it!

The talk of tan lines is too funny. I don't have any running lines, I guess I run too early. I have a bikini line but that's about it, which is from my backyard which hides me behind a big privacy fence so the eyes of little children are not damaged by seeing me ha ha!!

Since most of us are saying how hot it is, what has been the temperature and humidity while you are running and what part of the country are you in?

This morning at 5:15 it was 74 degrees and 98% humidity here in Northern Alabama. It's funny I sweat some when running, but the minute I stop it starts to pour off me.

Last night it was about 93 and 90% humidity and a guy ran past my house with no water..I ran out with water bottle and when I handed it to him (like I was an aid station LOL) he was like oh thank you so much I forgot my water. Hey buddy in another hour the sun will go down! Good night man.

@ddmom0811 I'm actually quite a distance from you. I live in Guangzhou, China. Where that is? Find Hong Kong on a map and follow the river up to the northwest a little bit. 3rd biggest city in China but yet nobody's ever heard of it!

It rained overnight and is considerably cooler today. It was 70* when I ran this morning and it showed. I finished in an impressive time and I was not really putting in much extra effort. Hopefully this faster than expected run will not impact my long runs this weekend!
