Name one misconception you had which posting on MFP has cleared up.

I thought I could ask questions that wouldn't devolve into diary snooping and food policing.

I had used a food scale before MFP because I loved how it made it simpler and less stressful to know how much to log. But I learned from MFP (and the videos posted here) about its superior accuracy (which made sense once I thought about it).

Ditto others' comments about the muscles in a deficit.

And not so much "learned" as helped me fully internalize: That it doesn't have to be 2 lbs a week or bust.

That calorie-counting was totally impossible and led to insanity.

I may still be gathering evidence on the second belief. :)

That I was overeating when I was eating all my exercise calories back a few months ago, especially those exercise calories calculated by MFP.

I learned the best place to actually share is at the gym with friends I have worked out with.

People act nothing like they do in the forums at the gym.

The MFP app is awesome. The forums are ok at best. But it is the internet and people LOVE to argue on the Internet.

I was mistaken to think suddenly being a fitness forum it would be different but people are still just people.

The percentage of bad apples is low.

I also learned MFP is one of the few forums that won't let you block a certain user. How sad... PLEASE MODERATORS.... Bring the block user feature to this forum!!!!!

I thought I would be so very hungry on 1300ish calories.
Come to find out, I'm nicely satisfied and can feel the difference between needing to eat vs wanting to eat because *enter excuse here*....
