eating cake and washing it down with a coca cola and then having some cookies...probably not the best idea.
having 2-3 servings of healthy, vitamin packed, fiber packed fruit...perfectly fine...and actually really good for you.
I usually have a couple of scrambled eggs and a serving of oats topped with a handful of blueberries and usually a low sodium V8...breakfast is rich in protein, fiber filled oats, and antioxidant awesomeness with the blueberries. Lots of extra vitamins and minerals and lycopene...good for the old ticker.
matters of nutrition are rarely as black and white as this is "bad" or the enemy and this is "good"
Agreed. However look at most processed foods including cereals etc. They're fortified with SUGAR even healthy snacks and low fat foods. Why, people were never this overweight before and they lived on tonnes of fried food. Now there is a obesity epidemic. And I believe regardless of types of foods it's the sugar content
But if you believe that sugar makes you fat, regardless of amount, how could a person be lean while consuming lots of sugar?
The could still have fat around vital organs. Typically most overweight people eat simple carbs such as white bread, crisps and pizzas and refined sugar such as chocolate. How can not one person get me on this issue lol.
When I was considered, "over weight," I only ate a paleo clean diet, no simple carbs... Now I eat everything I want and I'm almost to my goal weight.
That aside... In the morning I usually eat 1 egg (1c 5f 6p) because I prefer to eat all my calories in the evening.0 -

Answer = obviously I'm fat because I eat lots of sugar.
It helped get me fat sugary foods = sugar simple carbs = sugar larger = sugar. And I didn't eat a lot still made sure I ate no more than my bmr 2300 calories. I cut BAD sugar and simple carbs, increased protein and fats dropped 7 lb in 10 days.
Enlighten me. What is bad sugar?
Any that isn't glucose based such as high fructose corn syrup etc.

I like a high protein breakfast, packed full of high density protein cereals, yogurts and/or smoothies. Gram for gram they keep me satiated and less likely to snack throughout a busy day.0

I don't get hungry as quickly if I eat a high protein breakfast so have bacon/eggs, liver mush/eggs OR sausage/eggs every morning for breakfast. If I eat cereal I feel bloated and am starving within several hours

Ok I will eat frosted cornflakes for breakfast, with a nice sugar donut, washed down with sugar ladened sunny d. For lunch sugar laden snacks... my point is a reduction to 50g a day is better than most calories coming from sugar which Is empty calories0

Sugar is a carbohydrate which is a macro nutrient.
Sugar provides quick releasing energy.
That does not equal "empty" in my book.
And for the record, reducing sugar is definitely not a bad thing. No one ever said it was. That's a far cry from saying all sugar is bad...

OP you seem to have bought into the sugar fear mongering. The fact you are losing weight means you are in a calorie deficit along with some water weight. You also seem to not understand the term research. A research study would be a peer reviewed study found in a scientific journal (most of which can be searched online now). None of the links you posted are scientific studies, they are just more fear mongering articles.0

Why does it need to be more than quick energy? There are plenty of things that do one thing in this world.0 -

Eat fruits with lower amts of sugar then. Berries are a great example. I've been eating cherries by the handful as they are in season and cheap right now. They have a high sugar content, and I am still losing.
But as others have said, the sugar/insulin/fat storage broscience is nonsense. I eat a lot of fruit.
I agree here aswell! I eat a lot of fruit especially bananas and strawberries and oranges I even add strawberries to Greek yoghurt with honey and have been doing for 8 weeks now and with a lot of exercise too I've lost 16lbs. Doesn't matter aslong as your under your calorie goal you will lose weight0 -

Type 2 diabetic here, in remission. I eat fruit all the time and always at breakfast. It's what I eat WITH the fruit that makes all the difference with insulin response. I eat fruit with a little carb, a little fiber, a little fat, and a little protein. The combo slows the absorption of the entire meal, slowing the insulin response.
For example, eat an apple with a tablespoon of peanut butter. Bam. Home run.
But if you don't have insulin resistance, it is doubtful you could tell the difference.0 -
By the way, my diabetes is in remission, partly because of significant weight loss.0

OP is trolling.
OP's original question was about high fat vs. cereal and then about macros. People said eat the macros that work for you, doesn't matter. OP fear-mongered about fruit because of dread sugar Roberts (the full latin name). People said don't worry about getting sugar in moderation unless you have some health issue. OP then starting going on about insulin storing fat in a deficit and other distortions and half-understood factoids and then when people pointed out the truth insisted he was talking about eating multiple cakes at breakfast or some ridiculousness. And now we are on to eating loads of calories in fried foods not causing obesity, but sugary cereal.
Whatever.
I don't even like cold cereal (oatmeal is good, though), and even I know you can get non sugary cereal if you want to.
Or don't eat cereal. I don't (unless you count the occasional oatmeal). Who cares? Why ask about breakfast if you already know what you want to eat?0 -

Complex and simple has nothing to do with processed and not. (Also ALL bread is processed.)
It's about starch vs. sugar.0 -
I discovered refrigerator oatmeal because of MFP. I now consider my ideal breakfast (for tastiness, satiation, and macro balance), to be oatmeal (cereal) soaked in yogurt overnight (heavy on the yogurt) with a tablespoon of sunflower seeds and frozen blueberries or strawberries in the bottom.0
