For some reason, my ticker isn't working today, so I did 2.5 miles today on the treadmill which brings me to 19.65/30. I don't think I'm going to make my goal, but that's okay!

    7/9 - 3.7 miles
    7/10 rest day

    7/1 = 5 miles
    7/2 = 6 miles @ 6 weeks postpartum!
7/3 = weight training in the morning, 4 miles stroller walk
7/4 = Rest day, holiday dinner with the family and a very cranky baby. Add a dog terrified by the fireworks, shaking, panting and salivating on my bed, and you get the whole picture of my 4th of July night. Breath in…Breath out…
7/5 = 4 miles run, hot and humid, but I needed it for my sanity; 3 miles walk with the baby.
7/6 = 3 miles. Super hot, humid, yucky but an outside run it was!
7/7 = 2 miles around the block. Very tired today.
    7/8 = 6 miles
7/9 = Rest day, very much needed!
    7/10 = 5 miles
7/11 = 4 miles stroller walk, both mommy and baby needed it
    7/12 = 4 miles stroller walk
    7/13 = strength training
    7/14 = 1 mile quick walk
7/15 = 5 miler run, woohoo! Perfect weather this morning.
    7/16 = rest day
    7/17 = 4 miles, hot and humid.
7/22 = 5 miles. This was a great run! The weather was just perfect and I my baby was peacefully sleeping in her own bed.
    7/23 = 4.5 miles
    7/24 = 5.5 miles. Perfect weather!!!

71 miles out 80. Ditto on the ticker.
    Happy Friday everyone!

I'm always aware on my runs that I could encounter a nasty critter. Even when I was cycling I knew if it looked like a stick treat it like a snake and keep double the distance. I ran part of an out and back and on the back noticed a stick that wasn't there a minute ago, a short fat stick. Distance, approach with caution . Yup, a fat as$ copperhead. Got past 'em and scooted my feet making noise hoping to, at least encourage it off the trail. It immediately threw its head back mouth agape and held that position. I got chills. Rattlesnake, sure I'd have made it move off the trail. Copperhead - nah they are just hard wired to bite if anything is close enough. Once you cut their heads off, if you grab the tail, it still swings around to bite you.

Then I saw a juvenile armadillo, a few bunnies, and a tarantula... No horse flys this AM and no "lucky" roadrunners. Love the roadrunners..

I almost didn't wear my road ID today. Tan line, I'm really looking like a zebra. But gave in, because that tan line won't matter if the ID is needed.

    61.35/70+

@Runningmischka Glad to hear all is well! It is amazing how deeply we feel for those little ones. Thank goodness for the medical care we have access to!

Another month already? These challenges are just flying by. Looks like everyone is closing in on that mileage! Finish strong! And watch your step out there!

7/2 - 5 miles on a perfect morning for a run in DSM...you all should be jealous!

7/4 - 7 miles, visiting in-laws, partial "trail run" through road construction
    7/5 - rest day
7/6 - 3.1 miles; planned for 5 but got completely washed out by huge rain
7/7 - seem to have got a summer cold...slept in, no run
7/8 - getting worse...ugh! May be a sinus infection. Nothing worse than being sick in the summer!
    7/9 - still sick...blah.
7/10 - heading out of town for a baseball tournament...still have a cold.
7/11 - FINALLY! 3.5 miles on hotel treadmill (22.6 for month)
    7/12 - more baseball...son's team won 9 year-old state championship! Woo hoo!

7/14 - 5 miles, still pretty hot, but not as humid as yesterday. Because of all the missed days from illness, adjusting my goal down to 100.
    7/15 - 4.1 miles
7/16 - rest day; had to take oldest son in for his well child check.
    7/17 - 4.1 miles. STICKY! How can it be 81° at 5:30 a.m.?
    7/18 - 6.2 miles
7/19 - rest day (plus A LOT of yard work)
    7/20 - 4.2 miles
    7/21 - 4.0 miles - may not hit revised goal of 100
    7/22 - 4.0 miles - beautiful morning!
    7/23 - 4.5 miles (62.7 / 100)

Starting with a HM training group next week. Through my Y. This is where I started a year ago and really "became a runner". Looking forward to it!

@backtofit68 - Welcome! Yep, pretty much. Generally, everyone sets a goal for each month and then shares how they're doing, feeling, etc. Super supportive community here!

For those of you on my newfeed this is the sweetie Skip brought home from running yesterday. She came in crying about this puppy and it was loose and she yelled at it because it jumped on her, oh Momma PLLLEEASSSEE we need to go and get it so it doesn't get hit. So off we go and we get to her and she has a rabies tag but when I call the id number on the tag it isn't in their database. So we take "Baby" home with us and I post on facebook and she does the whole instagram/snapchat thing of does anyone know her. We found out that for how sweet she was with us, not so much with other doggies as she started a fight with my Macy. I call my vet and they say bring her in and we'll check for a chip. By now we have had the dog for about 90 mins because I'm waiting for the termite guy so I can't leave the house. Finally we get to the vet and yeah she is chipped. Girl at vet said it's the first dog in about 30 she has scanned that was chipped. The owner came to the vet to get her and said they have only had her a month (she was 8 months old) and that she had gotten out the day before and was out all night  Her name is Roxie and she wanted to stay with Skip, she was crying and pulling on the leash as we were walking away. The owner told Skip to stop by any time to see her. Poor Skip was crying when we got in the car, but happy that we found her owner. Who can resist that face!

Looks like I won't run again until Monday and Wednesday and Friday next week! Because I plan on biking both Sat and Sunday. But I will get way past my goal since I'm doing a new longer run on Wednesday. I want to roll over my miles to August.

My ankle has been playing up (different one to last time) so I have rested it completely for 10 days. I've been itching to go out again and today did a tentative one mile and it seems to be okay, so hopefully I can begin building on it again slowly now. That does mean I will miss this months target again, but hopefully August will be better  Currently 12.8/25 miles.

@skippygirlsmom aw, what a great thing to do! You and Skip probably saved that sweet pup. Cute pic!

Love the getting up for an early morning run! I assumed all the early AM runners were spry and chipper the second they woke up!

@skippygirlsmom - adorable puppy! Very sweet that you and Skip went above and beyond to find the owner.

@Elise4270 - holy crap I would never run that trail again if I saw a copperhead. I am a total freak when it comes to snakes. Luckily we only have rattlesnakes here. I hate visiting my family in the south. Way too mnay snakes that can kill you!

@melaniefave41 - so random! I wonder where the rest of the skunck went?!

Skip was already preparing for not finding the owner and keeping Roxie. Ha ha!

I'm not a fan of snakes either, yuck!

@Elise4270 Some days I'm good to get up and go, other days are more like the article...a slow roll out of the bed and dragging my feet as I go into the bathroom. After I get out in the street I'm usually good.
