Hello and welcome to the thread that acknowledges alcohol. smiley-eatdrink060.gifWe like it.
Most of us drink it. We struggle with the effect it has on our weight loss. We support each other when we strive to control it. We support each other when we fail to control it.

This is a support zone. Not a judging zone.

It's a new month and Summer is starting up full swing.(well not for our Aussie's but they have winter to deal with) We need to help each other thru the boats and booze, the BBQ's and Booze and whatever else this time of year means to you.

Welcome to all the new lushes to the thread. we are all here to support.

I love wine, I work in a bar and I find myself reaching for a glass at the end of my shift (i've worked hard i've earned it  ) but its my birthday on the 30th and I want to lose 5lbs before then and I seem to have reached my happy weight as even losing a half a pound is a struggle. So i'd like to join some like minded people to help keep me in check :drinker:

Thank you for being realistic! I like my drinks on the weekend! I'd like to share a margarita substitute. When I was in Cancun 2 years ago they made this for me! It's gold tequilla and Fresca. You can salt the rim if you like and sqeeze a slice of lemon in it. But the nice thing is that the fresca is zero calories!!!!! Hope you all enjoy your summer!!!

I haven't been drinking much because I'm trying to quit smoking too...the two just go hand-in-hand for me. We did try, however, Miller Genuine Draft Light 64 cal beer this weekend. My guy picked up the Lemonade flavor and it wasn't awful. I think I would prefer the original flavor and just stick a lime in the bottle or something. We were laughing because two beers had us kinda tipsy since we haven't drank alcohol in quite a while.

Can I join you guys? I have no problems with losing consistently from a Mon - Fri, come the weekend I go out one night and have maybe 10 drinks in an evening, the following day I am STARVING. I feel like I sabotage myself every week, any one else feel like this?

    Checking in for June...
Now that I am in a challenge I need to get serious about laying off the booze. We'll see how it goes.

Welcome new people. Jingly, yes we all talk about the hangover eating, what a killer. Heavy carbs and fat and for some sugar. Love a Big Mac and chocolate shake on those days.

WooHoo! So glad I found this post... I, too, love my wine, beer and spirits... I am a weekend warrior. I cut out any alcohol during the week and now am strickly work, gym, etc... during the work week. Come Friday and it's happy hour as soon as I get home from the gym... I have drastically cut back on beer and wine and have been enjoying hard lemonade while floating in my pool... This seems to be the perfect drink for those lazy summer days and nights... I use Citron Vodka and Crystal Light Raspberry Lemonade... I'm so glad that there are like minded people out there for talk to and get support... Weight loss is not an easy journey and the older I get the harder it is to break old habits! Hope we can help each other out!

    Cheers,
    Carolyn:drinker:

    Hey, Lushes....

    Monday, 0 drinks
    Tuesday, 0 drinks

I was at the casino and maintained control...however, I lost all my money that I brought...drinking would have been a better value:grumble:

Going on a overnighter with hubs tonight, alcohol will be involved I am sure.

    Tuesday - 4.5 Miller Lites

Thinking of trying to go back to the Budweiser 55's, but they (And MGD 64) give me heartburn. Maybe I should change to wine... Any former beer drinkers that have switched to wine?

At first I thought it would be a bad idea for me to post here. Glad to see there's no judgment going on. I used to sell wine professionally, and still like to have at least one glass per night. Then, there are cocktail nights (a throwback to college days when I was a bartender).

When I first joined MFP, I imbibed occasionally, and I always logged my drinks. I still lost weight because I was careful to stay within my calories. If I knew it was a night when the bestie and I were going to get together for a few drinks, I would exercise more to allow myself an extra drink or two. But now, I have been an a 9 week plateau. It's KILLING me. I'm trying not to get discouraged. So, my new goal is to go a week without a single alcoholic beverage and see if that jumpstarts my weight loss again. It's worth a shot.

BTW...I am a high school English teacher and school administrator. It's exam week. I picked the wrong week to go cold turkey.

No drinks for me at all for a while. Trying to quit smoking and the medicine prescribed by my doctor has scary side effects when mixed with alcohol. No thanks! Hope everyone else is doing well. Hoping a side effect of not drinking is seeing the pounds drop off!

The no alcohol thing is killing me.

For me a nice bottle of red, all to myself, every Friday and Saturday night was the norm. Now, I buy those little mini bottles of wine and have one of those, although not every weekend, maybe once a month only. I get the mini bottles, because I really can't stop at just one glass, and I over pour, and then, well, you know if there's wine, I gotta have cheese, and so on.

So, one mini bottle of red, with one mini babybel light for me, maybe once a month.

BUT, my waistline is thanking me.

Oh, and I'm SO gonna try that Fresca thing, as soon as the weather warms up here.

I tried switching to Bud 55's and figured out after a few weeks that I was drinking twice as many as I usually did to get a buzz. Looked into the alcohol content of the Budd 55's and it's like 2% or something crazy like that!!
