Stupid afternoon thunderstorms have kept me of the bike this week. I did manage to get a ride in today though. 19.4 miles in an hour and a half. That's fast for me.

Thanks for the encouragement! I am not sure how to respond directly to posts, so I hope @HopHead28 and @howie6267 know that I appreciate y'all!

Today was an amazing ride! I rode 20.18 miles and can tell my fitness level is improving. I generally struggle during a ride and then feel pretty shot out after. Today, my riding partner and I both noticed how well I was doing, and at this point after the ride, I feel like a million bucks!
I am a teacher and went back to work last week. I did NOT do any type of exercise last week and feared that I would do poorly today. I dreaded the ride all day - of course, the 97 degree weather didn't help. I understand that you can not lose your level of fitness by taking a one week break, but I'm glad I tested that theory!

Anyway, enough blabbing about how awesome I think I am, (just kidding there), and here are my monthly stats.

    Aug. 2 - 12.24 miles

    Aug. 9 - 21.18

Though I took a whole week off, I do believe I can make up for it and make my goal of 100 in the next 22 days.
66.58 miles left for the month of August.

Put in a solid showing at the Pittsburgh triathlon yesterday, despite doing the bike leg on my northern (walmart) commuter road bike. Ended up averaging 20.3mph on the 20k bike leg w. 550ft climb/descent, finishing that leg 19th out of 244 triathletes, and 19th overall for the race, while earning a 2nd place age group award.

Definitely curious how much better I'd do on a dedicated tri bike, but it felt great passing four $3000+ cervelo P3/P5s at the end of a big hill climb on my $170 walmart bike that I commute around on up north. On the plus side, by using that bike with the plastic half toe clips and my regular shoes, I didn't need to change shoes twice, and had both the fastest T2 transition time, and the fastest overall T1+T2 transition time for the race. Being locked into the bike probably would have helped a bit more for the climb, but for future sprint triathlons, I'd seriously consider just using full toe clips (even vs. flying bike starts w. tri shoes clipped in and fastened w. elastics).

    8/1 - 50 mile bike
    8/4 - 15 mile bike
    8/5 - 11 mile bike
    8/6 - 14 mile bike
    8/7 - 14 mile bike
8/8 - 5 mile bike (to start), 12 mile bike (20k triathlon leg)
    8/9 - 11 mile bike

    Total: 132 mile bike
    Goal: 500 mile bike
    Remaining: 368 mile bike

May Cycling: 259.06 km (160.9 miles) + 45 min cycling inside

June Cycling Inside: 215 minutes on bicycle on trainer in basement = 3 hours 35 min

July Cycling: 130 km in 405 min (6 hours 45 min) + 280 min cycling indoors (4 hours 40 min)

    Goal ... more than July.

Aug 1 - chilly (9C) and windy (30 km/h gusting to 57 km/h) with a "feels like" temp of about 5C and a little blast of sleet just to keep things interesting.

And we cycled 38.5 km up the cycleway and back on our Thorn touring bicycles.

    So looking forward to summer!!

Aug 8 - 27.93 km bicycle ride outside (85 min) ... and I even took it up to top speed once! :)

Aug Cycling: 66.4 km in 208 min + 0 min cycling indoors
