    Wasn't going to run as my knee is still bugging me from an 8 k hike, but decided to despite the 26C temps and 93% humidity. Thought I had a fairly good pace but was slower than average.

    4.83 km today for 12.34/50 km for August. Hope to start picking up the miles on a daily basis.

    I usually only do group runs Thursday and sometimes Sunday, but holy cow! The Saturday group is huge! Good to know, as I'll probably be joining them more often for my mid-length Saturday runs this fall that will precede my long Sunday runs. I can run and socialize for an hour or so, but after that my brain turns to jelly and I just want to zone out -- as I discovered last week, lol.

    The fourth phase of our indoor marathon at the gym is ON - the first ten people to make it to 70K will get some pretty nice prizes, so that is my motivation for the next few days! I got about 13k in today, will go all out tomorrow, Mon, and hope to finish on Tues!

    First "long" run of the season. Happy to do 5 after taking a 8.5 month break. Hot and humid, but I survived and feel pretty good. On to next week.

    It's going to be a hot one today, so I got up at 5-flippin'-30 to run this morning. It was already 73F when I got the parking lot for the paved trail I wanted to run. I ended up with 10 miles this morning! My first double digit run. The temp was already 80F when I was finished. The upper quads are a bit sore but hopefully that won't persist. Its a very comforting feeling to look at my MFP diary and see that I have 3700 calories to consume today. I'm starting to pare that down by "rehydrating" with a fresh hefeweizen from a local brewery.

    Today: 10 mile run
    Progress: 44 of 100 miles

    With August ending on a Sunday, I still think I can make my goal.

    Congrats on breaking the 4 mile barrier @kimlight2!

    @CrimsonWhite - Sounds like the dog is being a great coach getting you out running like that.:smile:

    @kellyship17 - Ouch! Hope you get those cramps squared away. Have you tried pickle juice?:smile:

    @Pandora_and_her_box - Hope the migraine clears.

    @ruqayyahsmum - Great speed boost!

    @aarar - Hope your weekend mileage is great!

    @Elise4270 - Hope the new shoes is the end of the calf issues.

    @tdbernrd - That sounds serene!

    @7lenny7 - Awesome mileage and congrats on double digits!! I enjoy seeing those crazy MFP numbers too.

    I'm still waiting to be back to full health. Resting HR today was 18 beats high. I felt good though so headed out to do some domestic challenges at the area grocery stores but wound up drained after 2 hours. So time for more rest..

    and no running!!!:cry::cry::cry:

    I have been away with my trip to Houston and I have missed so much here! The trip was filled with work commitments, no working out or running :( The hotel gym was nasty so even if I had the time and energy to run on the treadmill I had even less incentive.
    Friday I had a great shake out run and today intended to go long but it was SO hot when I started early, early and just got hotter. I finally realize I just don't do well in the heat and it makes me feel so sick. I stuck it out for 7 of the 10 planned. We have more record setting hot expected here for a few days and then it should be back down into the more moderate high 80s. Sunday is a dog beach day so may get a couple of miles in there. At least it should be cool!

    @CancerSurvivor2014 - love the pictures of the kids and dogs!
    @ShortMrsN - Welcome back! It is good to see you back here again! Just take it really slow and easy...
    @WhatMeRunning - I hope you are feeling better after taking a few days off!
    @kristinegift - I have never run with a group. Thinking I should try it sometime but I worry I will be too slow! I do have a group of friends who meet and run along the beach cliffs on Sundays but I would have to get up a 4:30 to get there in time and I am not sure I am willing to do that on a Sunday :)
    @7lenny7 - great job getting up early and getting in a 10 mile run in the heat!
    @skippygirlsmom - hoping I can catch up to you! The trip to Houston and the heat has put me way behind!
    @JoRocka - love your pictures! Hate the chafing!!

    Solo long run today. Just wanted to listen to some new music and see how I can fare without a group tailing me ;) Paced 8:59 despite it being about 10 degrees warmer than the last couple long runs I've done. Felt good until I ran out of water at mile 11! But I kept my splits between 8:45 and 9:05 through mile 11, then had 2 slower miles (to be fair: also uphill), and then a super quick downhill 8:06 mile back down to my apartment. Came back soaked through and dripping with sweat, so rewarded myself with a popsicle :)

    13.1 yesterday and 10 mile slow run today.

    105.85/200 goal

    Race report (Run This Town half marathon in Oakland, CA)- PR!!!!1:39.44! Beats my previous best by about 20 seconds however that PR was 7 years and 2 kids ago. The fastest I have ru I the last few years was 1:47 last January. The course was fun. Flat first 4-5, then rolling hills and finishing with a flat 3 around a city lake. I started running and talking with this guy around mile 3 and we ended up running the whole thing together. Just chatting and encouraging each other. Very fun!
