I did my longest ride to date. 175 miles with 14000 feet climbing over two days. The ride raised 5.9 million dollars in support of a summer camp for children with terminal illness. The finish line was at the camp. It was an awesome experience.

Got my first flat in a long time tonight as I commuted back from the ballgame. Another cyclist nearby had to stop for a flat as well (we both had kits) likely due to the same debris strewn on the sidewalk we had to pass along. Ended up walking the last mile and a half to save a cartridge as I was almost home.

looking at some new hybrid bikes
I tried the
Norco xfr 3 with hydralic disc brakes
trek 8.1 ds mechanical disc brakes
the norco brakes felt much nicer. the trek tires had less resistance
another shop has a giant rome 2 i think but they only had the female version to test so I dont know 100% what it would be like.
any advice? I'm biking 99% of the time on the road or city paved trails. all bikes are aroudn 700 canadian give or take 50

For $750, you should be able to snag an aluminum frame, integrated brake shifter setup (and maybe w. a carbon fork) that fits. Fit is priority #1 though over brand so some mid distance test rides should be in order.0
