My training plan called for 5 miles tonight, but the weather was gorgeous (72F and dry), I got home early, and Kody was fired up to go so I ended up with 8.5 miles. I ignored my HR monitor and ran it all based on perceived effort...trying to make it an easy run...and ended up with an average pace of 10:53, about 45 seconds faster than my recent similar runs, with an HR just 6 bpm higher than normal. I weight myself before and after...even though it wasn't that hot, I still lost 4.5 pounds on the run.

In the last 2 or 3 weeks, I really feel like my running has gone to the next level. What were my long run are now my weeknight runs, I feel like I can run forever, I really don't feel like the running is wearing me out at all, and there's virtually no pain. I'm getting to the point where my running will be limited more by my schedule than by my endurance, aches or pains. A 90 minute run and I'm feeling great. 31.7 miles in the last 5 days, and 42.5 in the last 8 days!

The verdict is in on the water belt I bought. I love it. I do wish they would have made the large pocket large enough for a cell phone, but it certainly serves its purpose. Even on the shorter runs, I like having water for Kody without carrying it in my hand. Freezing a half full bottle gives me cold water for the entire run.

And @mwyvr, you will NOT believe this, but tonight I actually ran by a small herd of cows! There's a small farm a couple miles from our house, land locked by suburbia, and he runs about a dozen head. They were all grazing right by the fence as I was running by. I almost had to stop I was laughing so hard thinking about the bear thread and your cow picture. I really wish I had brought my phone with me so I could have taken a selfie with them and posted it. I'll try to run by there tomorrow and hopefully they'll be by the fence again.

@shanaber, this is for you (but everyone else can check it out too). Kody gets very excited when he knows we're going out: https://youtu.be/MkasCCAjDlg

ETA: Goal progress = 92 of 100 miles

This is where I want to get to

This is something I pass on Sunday bike rides. Every time it gives me a smile and makes me wonder ... did people keep trying to walk on down that sidewalk? so they had to tell them ... it ends here?

It's a great area for a bike ride, but I'd love to run this area as well. If we leave early enough we pass by several runners, and I get my usual runner's envy.

@7lenny7 - Love the cows! Love the video of Kody even more! Thanks for sharing!
@JoRocka - Look at you almost to 60! That is pretty awesome for someone who was going to be just a sometimes when I have nothing better to do, runner!
@ruqayyahsmum - that is awesome about your daughter! I had very bad pronation as a child too - my ankles hit when I walked (I never ran unless I was forced to) and I wore (heavy, terrible) corrective shoes for many years. I still have issues with my knees and ankles going in but I am working on strengthening my hips to lessen it!
@ddmom0811 - Can't wait to hear about your runs in SF! Also I love the sign... maybe someone fell off the end and sued so they had to put up a sign?? LOL it is hilarious whatever the reason!
@skippygirlsmom - I can't believe you got to wear long sleeves today! Here we are looking at triple digits for the foreseeable future :( I am SO jealous!
@5BeautifulDays - I don't like running on the beach in shoes either but running on the moist sand by the water in bare feet can be awesome if there aren't a lot of shells or rocks and it is good for your feet and calves - just keep it short as it can be a real workout and make them very sore.

Had a pretty good run this morning even though it was hotter and more humid than yesterday and there wasn't much of a breeze. Tomorrow I WILL get out earlier! I am stiff and sore from strength training last night and felt it in my abs, chest and shoulders the first few miles. Interestingly my legs didn't complain until after my run and then they let me know they too were sore from the legapalooza workout!

5.7 tough miles. Tonight I learned that running after getting less than 5 hours sleep the night before is not fun.

Less than a mile to go to hit my goal. I'll get that tomorrow night.

@skippygirlsmom and @shanaber I think I will try running on the beach again tomorrow, but either skip the shoes or put them on after I get there. I also found a really nice sandy trail (through a maritime forest) I'd like to try.

Sadly, I don't think I'm going to hit my 100 miles for the month. I'm trying not to feel too badly about it--I really did need the rest this vacation has given me, and I've stayed active even if I'm not running. I walked about 4 miles today, and tomorrow I'll try to get a short run in before we go kayaking.

fast 10k today - feeling quite well

    479km/400, aiming at 550

@7lenny7 sleeping not much is not really good for me as well, I try to sleep at least 6 hours but if i don't I can see a 15-25 sec/km difference on my times on my fast runs

oh bleess you, i hope the hip strengthening exercises can help your knees and ankles

my wee one doesnt pronate as such she has diplegic cerebral palsy so her knees are together but her feet will be wide apart with her ankle bones heading towards the ground, she wears plastic splints all day usually, she once covered them in stickers in an attempt to pretty them up, theres nothing that can pretty up corrective equipment is there lol

my dad wore correctives as a child too, he was and still is a pronator, they fitted him with iron calipers at one point to fix it, turns out he knows alot of expletives to cover how he felt about that

8/3 - 5.5 miles 1st day of school here, can't believe my baby is a Sophomore!
    8/4 - 3.2 miles
    8/5 - rest day
8/6 - 1.8 miles ending up not getting back out last night - had to bring work home with me and worked until 9:30
8/7 - 4.4 miles in the fog  5K Run to the Rescue with Skip and some of her teammates tomorrow.
8/8 - 3.1 Run to the Rescue 5K today. Skip and I ran, it was trail for almost 2 miles (I've never run off the road) then onto the road, then onto parking lot gravel (ugh) then back to and finish on grass. We don't have official times, I was I did a 9:43 pace just over 30 min so not near a PR, Skip said she was about 23:49 not near her PR either. I thought it was a tough course, a few hills. The trail was hard for me very rooty and uneven, but it was a lot of fun. I finished 3rd in my AG and she finished 1st in her AG.
    8/9 - 9.3 miles
    8/10 - 3.5 miles of recovery - it's my birthday it's my birthday!! :sunglasses:
    8/11- 6.1 miles
8/12 - 3.5 miles - Wed is usually my rest day but I need to be in work at OhDark30 the next two days so I ran today.

8/17 - 3.5 miles of leisurely run in the rain
    8/18 - rest day
8/19 - 6.4 miles legs still sore and they talked to me the whole run - they weren't cursing so I kept going
    8/20 - 5.1 miles
    8/21 - 3.5 miles - overslept a bit so I knew I couldn't do the 4.5 I wanted ended up with a 10:15 pace, felt great.
    8/22 - 6.5 miles
8/23 - 3.5 miles legs so heavy ugh for the second day
    8/24 - rest day
8/25 - 6.2 miles - couldn't be any nicer 60F low humidity, I was actually chilly the first 3 miles. Just an awesome run! Decided to run a true 10K my time was 1:04.17 I was very happy.
8/26 - 5.5 miles - another fantastic morning, put the long sleeves on today. Skip's first meet is Saturday she can't wait to run it in this weather.
    8/27 - 3.5 miles

    112.6 miles of 120

I can see you goal

@5beautifuldays I don't make myself crazy about running when I'm on vacation, but since my inner alarm is on 5:00 am I'm always up before everyone so I go. I love the beach I'm so jealous
@whatmerunning Only 90 to go, you just cracked me up this morning
@jorocka Skip's coach wears the finger shoes all the time and loves them
    @cancersurvivor2014 congrats on GOAL!
@ruqayyahsmum from what you have said about your daughter I'm sure the smile on her face and her confidence outshines any corrective wear. She sounds like a gem!

    Goal in sight!

@JoRocka - that face cracks me up!
@CancerSurvivor2014 - GOAL!! Great job outta you!
@skippygirlsmom - I've been wearing long sleeves most of the week...the cooler weather is beautiful! Warming back up over the next few days though.
@Stoshew71 - way to, yet again, set a good example by listening to your body. Take care of yourself.

@7lenny7 - Not unusual for me to run with less than 5 hours sleep, but it isn't at the end of the day. Ugh! I feel your pain.

    8-1: 2.5 mi
    8-2: 2.62 mi
    8-5: 2.6 mi
    8-8: 2.77 mi
    8-9: 2.77
    8-12: 2.91 mi
    8-13: 2.49 mi
    8-16: 3.13 mi
    8-17: 1.15 mi
8-18: 1.11 mi...got scary tinges of knee pain today, called it quits conveniently as my mother happened to be driving by.
8-21: 2.53 mi...felt much better today after taking time off. My pacing was much quicker than it has been since I was about 6 weeks in c25k. Paired w/ endurance training I think this is a good sign for the future.
8-22: 2.45 mi. Went back to W6D1 of c25k for some intervals...started out quick and burned out by the last 5 minutes. Lesson learned!
8-23: 3.14 mi..started out pretty conservative because I was tired and realized I had way more gas than I thought...ended up negative splitting 2 minutes on my last 1k from my first. Very tired afterwards though.
8-24: Just did a 1.75 mi recovery walk but I'm not including it in my cumulative total. Very sore yesterday after working a 9 hour shift after my run.
8-25: 2.35 mi. W1D1 as a workout, except I did the 60 sec. jogs as 75% runs. Very tired by the end but I felt very productive.
8-27: 1.93 mi... Ran in the cold as sin rain because I had an appointment scheduled later and I wanted to be on time...only to be told it had to be rescheduled. :| Quick pacing I had though, probably the best I've done all summer.

    36.45 mi/30 month.
