Seriously- I just want to scream GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO KILL IT!! but I can't. So any time you think someone is heckling you- remember there are silent runners (or sometimes not silent) cheering you on from the distance. You're making people proud all over.
And on top of that, you also ran an awesome 5k time!
@kristinegift That's a really cool tattoo! I like the roman-numbers idea.
@skippygirlsmom Congratulations to Skip, you have good reasons to be proud!
@9voice9 Congrats, I guess. ;-D Fortunately,I haven't had that happen to me yet. Maybe that means I'm not a real runner girl yet, but that's okay for me.
@unrelentingminx Wow, you left your goal behind by a lot. Well done!
@ruqayyahsmum You too, that's a lot of extra miles you did this month. Too bad that that woman's comment ruinded your last mile. Imho, she's the one who's stupid, not the running. Good that you managed to shout a comment back
@shell1005 That's sounds like a cool lady. I wanne be like that when I'm seventy, too!
I'm so far behind on this thread, I just read the last few pages. The last week was really stressful (a mix of work-stuff combined with bad time-management on my side...). Put me back not only on reading, but on actual running as well. *sigh*
I finally got a chance to run on Friday evening, but after two nights with less than 3 hours sleep, I totally wasn't in shape, so I didn't even last for half an hour.
After a lazy Saturday, I felt recovered enough for a longish 12km run. I might try to squeeze a short run in on Monday evening, so that I can at least call it a hundred for the month.

552km for August, very satisfied
@patrikc333 Congrats on the marathon distance and on your monthly total ... yikes that's impressive. Some might think crazy but I would not be one of them!
@shell1005 What a fabulous story!
@ruqayyahsmum Don't let hecklers stop you, not for one minute. You've made amazing progress and are doing things that the vast majority of the population can't, or won't, do. Be proud and run on.
@kristinegift I've never wanted a tatoo, I've got scars aplenty anyway, but I have to say... I could go for a running one. Hmnn.
@5BeautifulDays @7lenny7 I say good morning|afternoon|evening to all runners and most who aren't too. I'm not that impressed with runners who can't spare courtesy. In the mountains I don't think I've ever *not* been greeted by a trail runner; but in the city it's a different story. This week while running 21km through the busiest running area of Vancouver (seawall) not a single runner out of hundreds returned my greeting. Bizarre. Maybe I had snot hanging from my face.
Today Kady and I ran 2 hours + through decently hilly trails after the biggest wind storm we've had in while. Some trails closed due to downed power lines and some dodgy looking trees still standing that shouldn't be for long, but my oh my it was a perfect run. Perfect. Goal: 40 miles
8/4 - 3.66 miles. Darn ITB bothered me around 3. I thought I was over this.
8/6 - 4.33 miles. No ITB pain, but slowed WAY down. Cautiously optimistic
8/10 - 4.53 miles. No pain again! Still very slow, but slow running is still running
8/12 - 3 miles. Taking it easy so I can start adding long runs on the weekend.
8/14 - 3.5 miles
8/16 - 5.3 miles - felt great, no pain. A little sore in my hip a few hours later, so taking an extra rest day.
8/19 - 3.1 miles - Moonlight 5k. It was HOT and HUMID, but averaged 10:30 miles on a hilly course. I'll take it!
8/21 - 6 miles
**Vacation from 8/22-29 - Disney World. Meant to run a few times on the dreadmill, but just ran out of time. Walked 7+ miles per day (in the heat and humidity) so counted it as a week of cross training
8/31 - 5.5 miles
SO CLOSE to goal!

@skippygirlsmom - Love the new kicks...wish they made pink running shoes for men. I'd buy 'em in a heartbeat. Delayed congrats to Skip! Sounds like she has worked hard this last year and is seeing the result...best of luck the whole season!
@kristinegift - Nice tat! Keep thinking I want one, but haven't hit on the right idea yet. Preferably something to cover the horribly done 20+ year old one that I have on my ankle.
@patrikc333 - Wow! Great time and congrats! Not sure if run is more impressive or that meal!
@MrsKGrady - that picture is awesome!
@Elise4270 - hmmm...group tattoo? Nice idea! Not sure my wife would think it was sane to get a group tattoo with people I've never met in person, but maybe.
Ugh! So close! Wish I hadn't turned off my tracker this morning when we were done on the track. Didn't record the jog back to the gym.
8/1 - 5.82 mi

8/30 - 4.0 mi around the neighborhood
8/31 - 5.61 mi of sprints / intervals...so hard, but so glad we did it!0 -
I came on last night to catch up with everything and post my mileage and got distracted by @7lenny7 and his talk of new running clothes and went looking. I went to bed and realized I hadn't logged my run yesterday. Drrrrr. Last night got 3.5 miles in to take me over my 40 mile total to 41.25 so far. Hopefully I'll get another few miles in this evening. Great to read about everyone's run and see great pictures of horses, kids and cute dogs. And I love hearing the inspiring thoughts!

Hooray for puppies, who force you to run when you don't want to
(was trying for a nice walk, but nope)

@ruqayyahsmum Sorry about the heckler. All I can say is...
@JoRocka I try and say hi to everyone I run by as well.
Nice tat @kristinegift
@Elise4270 Regarding your HM question. Just remember the basic rules for adding miles...
It's safer to add no more than 10% of your last week miles onto the new week. So If you ran say 30 miles this week, add no more than 3 miles. if you ran 20 miles, add no more than 2 miles. Your long run should be no more than 25-33% of your total weekly miles. So If you ran a total of 30 miles this week, your long run should be in the range of say 7.5-10 miles. Also, consider a week where you step back on your miles every 3 to 4 weeks as you are increasing. And most of your miles should be in the easy pace while you are increasing. if you follow all of that, then it doesn't matter how you add on the miles.

We don't have official times, I was I did a 9:43 pace just over 30 min so not near a PR, Skip said she was about 23:49 not near her PR either. I thought it was a tough course, a few hills. The trail was hard for me very rooty and uneven, but it was a lot of fun. I finished 3rd in my AG and she finished 1st in her AG.
8/9 - 9.3 miles
8/10 - 3.5 miles of recovery - it's my birthday it's my birthday!!

8/23 - 3.5 miles legs so heavy ugh for the second day
8/24 - rest day
8/25 - 6.2 miles - couldn't be any nicer 60F low humidity, I was actually chilly the first 3 miles. Just an awesome run! Decided to run a true 10K my time was 1:04.17 I was very happy.
8/26 - 5.5 miles - another fantastic morning, put the long sleeves on today. Skip's first meet is Saturday she can't wait to run it in this weather.

126 miles of 120
Skip said thank you all for the congrats, she's still walking on cloud nine. She didn't run with me today, she went to a party last night and was too tired to get up. Ah the life of a teenager. Had to get Skip some new inserts for her running shoes so off to Fleet Feet we went. Decided I needed a new pair of kicks, got about 450 miles on my "old" pair. Brooks Glycerin 13s
oh pretty shoes!
i saw a write up for these in a runners magazine i was reading this morning

8/2 5.0 @ 20:00 (hiking)
8/3 4.5 @ 18:00 (walk with kids and dog)
8/4 4.0 @ 11:30 (treadmill) and strength training
8/5 Amusement Park Day
8/6 3.0 @ 12:00 and strength training
8/7 Aquarium Day
8/8 4.0 @ 15:00 (my first technical trail)
8/9 5.0 @ 12:00 on my normal trail--felt a little sluggish
8/10 4.5 @ 12:00 on a new trail near my house
8/11 3.5 @ 11:00 on the treadmill, laughing like an insane person, and strength training
8/12 Rest Day. Yuck.
8/13 7.5 @ 12:56 (the first 10K were at about 12:15; I walked the last mile and a quarter with a terrible stitch in my side)
8/14 3.25 @ 11:04 on the treadmill and strength training
8/15 5.0 @ 11:48 road/flat trail combo
8/16 Rest Day
8/17 4.0 @ 12:47--I got out late and it was really hot. I also got "lost" a couple times, exploring a new section of trail.
8/18 4.25 @ 11:17 on the treadmill and strength training
8/19 7.5 @ 12:42 --it was drippy muggy but at least overcast, so not *too* hot. I'll take it!
8/20 2.25 @ 12:45 (last quarter was really slow, just walking) short recovery run in 100% humidity
8/21 3.5 @ 11:35 on the treadmill, and strength training
8/22 Travel day
8/23 Rest day
8/24 2.5 @ 12:43--my first beach run. I do not like sand in my running shoes! The beach itself isn't bad, but the dunes...sandy sandy sandy and all in my toes.
8/25 3.25 @ 11:59 boring sidewalk run, but no sand
8/26 4.0 walk
8/27 3.5 @ 12:11 and 1 hour of kayaking...that was FUN!
8/28 Rest Day
8/29 Travel Day
8/30 7.0 @ 12:08 on the treadmill. It felt good to have a nice long run after so much junk food this week!
8/31 3.5 @ 11:38 on the treadmill. I wanted to go further, but my hip flexor hurt, so I stopped and did a nice long stretch instead.
94.25/100
I didn't make goal, but pretty close, so I'm happy.
@mwyvr That looks like an amazing place to run!
@kristinegift Your tattoo is awesome! I want to brave enough to get one, but I haven't found the design that will overcome my fear of the pain, yet!
@jtarmom Going to Disney is like a marathon! Ok...a marathon where you stop every 20 minutes for a Dole Whip, and then wait in line for an hour, but a marathon none-the-less!
