I managed to squeeze one last run in for August, boosting my total by 8 miles. We've got a bit of a heat wave coming in and it was a hot steamy one, though nothing like some of you put up with. I didn't weigh myself before the run but I weighed myself after and between the time I woke up and the time I finished my run I lost 8.5 pounds! I knew I lost a lot sweat but I didn't realize it was that much. Now it's time to drink beer rehydrate and celebrate a great month.

Excellent job, folks! Be proud of ever mile!

    August total: 221.56 km
    Goal: 322 km / 200 miles (68% completed)

Didn't make my goal due to too many life interruptions - some good (vacation) and some not so good (kidney stones).

I'm not totally bummed out, I closed out the month with 221 km / 137 miles and feeling strong and am set for a good month in September.

So loving these run challenges - keeping me moving, motivated, accountable and focused! Ran my first 5k race this Sunday - in recent years (I'm a lone runner, not a pack runner) saw my race stats and at one point I was pacing at 7.04 mph; had it not being for the challenge I would have never entered. So once again for August I rung the bell!

@shanaber @whatmerunning @briebee7 and others - I agree on the rudeness of people too. I don't expect people to stop and chat with me but a nod of the head or a smile isn't asking much. Common manners is all that is. I usually can't be bothered with people that like I just go on my way and not think about it again, but geez you don't know me at all. First of all I'm not naturally "skinny" I worked hard for a year to lose 60 lbs, I played sports in high school but wasn't a great athlete so for me at 50 something to take up running and work on getting healthy (not just thin, but HEALTHY) is a big deal. People should never assume anything about others.

I only got in 10km late last night for an August total of 343km. My goal was 350km so I came up a bit short but I'm not going to be too hard on myself, that was my highest month to date :)

28.6 hours of running in August for a total of 206.5 miles. Approximately 60 miles of that was trail running.

Didn't quite make my goal for August--some foot pain started creeping in mid-month and it slowed me down a little bit:
    8/1--4 miles
    8/3--3 miles
    8/5--3 miles
    8/7--3 miles
    8/9--4 miles
    8/11-2 miles
    8/16-3 miles
    8/18-3 miles
    8/25-3 miles
    8/27-3 miles
    8/31-5 miles

    36/40 miles

Not the most organized tally but I made it to 27 miles out of my 30 mile goal.

But I'm very confident about making the 10K on the 13th.
  • MFP September 2015 Running Challenge:
This month 48 is the number for my mileage goal and I also am trying to run
5 miles in 48 mins. This was my 2nd attempt this month. I kinda knew it wasn't going to happen because on the previous day I had a pretty intense ab workout. And when doing my HIIT on the ellipitical that day I was struggling a bit. At the halfway mark it was 29 mins and I was "out of gas". I tried to convince myself to make to just make it 3 miles and I would only have to run a half mile more. But then I kicked myself in the butt and decided to do the whole 5; Trying to keep on the same pace and complete it in under an hour. I made it in just under an hour. I felt good for not cutting it short even though I was nowhere near my original goal. I should get one more crack at it before month is out.
I picked up 3 more miles in warm up runs from last week. Added to the 5, It gives me 8 more miles.

    Goal:48 miles
    completed: 35.5
