...Damn it... I'll just take the free weights to the back corner and do some rows in shame now. And eat a donut to balance it out to not be offensive.
My peeve is general gym folk crowding me. And the self-conscious me (which I understand is ridiculous and deserves a "Get over yourself") gets twitchy when I'm doing some form of deadlift/squat/row and I look over and make eye contact with someone else. Makes me go all Gollum in my head... Sigh.
Right on. I sometimes see complaints about the equipment in these threads but generally it's people. People are the worst.0 -
Not sure if he's a caveman or just a troll. LOL

Women in the free weight section. I can't stand bulky women.
[/sarcasm]
Is that better?
Makes more sense, yes. (I've seen enough of your posts to know it was either not serious or mild trolling)0 -

I get a bit twitchy about crowding, too. Like the guys doing their curls practically on top of the weight rack ("hey, I need those, can I just maybe sneak past ..."). And people getting too close on the side when I'm doing squats or deadlifts. I have iffy peripheral vision and I always think they're closer than they are, like close enough for me to hit them with the bar. Throws off my form.0 -

Totally and forever. Gotta have people there to ultimately have a peeve. All those lonely weights don't Ghost themselves in the way.I get a bit twitchy about crowding, too. Just a general rule of thumb is for me to keep away from the racks when someone else is currently using them. I help rack up my fiancé's bar and sometimes someone's on the next one over... always end up Matrix-ing that stuff just to be safe.

Women who throw their crap (shoes, bags, makeup, clothes, towels) all over the locker room like it's their own bathroom. Oh, and people who text in the squat rack, on a machine, etc. - hurry up and get out so I can get in there.0
-
People that put stuff in a locker without a lock. Not because I care about their stuff, but because then I open 9 lockers in a row trying to put my junk away and they're full. Sometimes I want to passive-aggressively (or just aggressively?) lock their stuff in with mine just for some revenge on the 14 seconds of my life wasted opening full lockers.0

thank you. i think this behavior is so pretentious.0 -

I would agree with you to a point here. If a woman is focused, her hair up, sweating and listening to her headphones. She obviously does not want to be hit on. If a woman has her hair down and all pretty, mostly sitting on her phone and no head phones in. I even think she is there for attention. and as far as the gym clothes... there is a difference here too. If her yoga pants are so tight that you can see her soul through them... I'd say it's advertisement.
I dunno ... I kind of feel like there's a double standard here. If a guy is looking good and wearing clothes that show off his muscles, etc, we wouldn't say he's advertising.
Many ladies wear form-fitting clothes to workout in for comfort (it's awkward when loose stuff gets caught on a machine, it weights, etc) and because they feel good in them, not to seek attention. Same with hair, makeup, etc -- maybe she just came from work or something. I honestly think very few women go to the gym to get picked up on (I don't think I've seen more than 1, if that, at my gym)
I'd say @Non_Stop has the right advice. Don't be a creeper at the gym (and ladies, this goes for you, too ... don't creep on the guys )
Ladies, feel free to totally creep on me.
Creeping initiated.

Like taking pictures of the woman on the elliptical in front of you?0 -

I agree but both ways. Some gyms I go to women think that its okay to grope me. Not cool.

People who do not rack the weights they've used!!! GRINDS MY GEARS0

With cardio I can't be near a guy who keeps snorting or clearing his throat or breathing very loudly. Don't know why but it just bugs the crap out of me so much I have to go find another machine. Also if people smell like smoke.
With weights when someone or a group is taking up multiple machines but not really using them in a timely fashion.
As for the women, wear whatever you want. Can't say I mind but I'm not always paying attention either.
One more thing: don't assume people want a huge fan blowing on them just because you do. Just saying ...0 -
I recently encountered a hoarder - she had a couple of sets of dumbells of varying weights all set out with her towel, water bottle and various crap. She had set up camp at one of the benches.
Just use what you're using, and walk the 2 feet to put them back before you use the next one, it's not tricky. We don't have a big gym so there aren't a lot of dumbell sets once you get over 5kg (not in that section of the gym, anyway).0 -
People who don't rack their weights.
People who don't wipe their sweat off whatever they were using.
People who blatantly mock other people with their buddies when chances are the person is just new to the scene. It can be intimidating enough for people as it is d-bags. At least they are trying. Grr...0 -
When scumbags are trying to squat in the squat rack when I need to curl.0

When people don't wipe down their sweat from cardio machines, I'm not expecting them to clean it properly but at least wipe off the excess so my hands don't get covered in your sweat.0
-
People that don't wipe up their sweat
People that will sit on equipment during peak times to have a phone conversation
People that try to have a conversation with me, clearly wearing earphones, don't care.
Women that spread *all* of their crap all over the place in the locker room.0 -
Oh and seeing guys leave the toilet after peeing, not washing their hands and then heading out for their workout.....0

Truth. Damn them.0 -
My biggest pet peeve in gym is when a guy wants to use DBs for his exercise right in front of the damn DB rack. I wish there was a Ludacris song that would instantly start playing when I approach the DB I'm trying to reach.

*looks around* Really? I have to be the one? Ok. People who come to the gym in their underwear.0
-
People who take up 4 stations with their circuits then give you the evil eye if you ask to work in.
When someone curls right behind me at the squat rack so they can use my mirror. Just distracting.
Asking me a question in the middle of a rep.0 -
When all of the squat racks are in use when I need to curl.0

Yes this is mine - it presents an attitude of "I'm just gonna hog the whole f*****g rack whilst I do my own set & how dare you try & access any of the other Dumbbells whilst I'm doing so"0 -
