!?!?!!?!?!?!
It's because I thought they would help me lose weight, and I am obsessed with my weight. Other pills, prescription pills made me put on 30 kg in one year and destroyed my body, now I am full of stretch marks and lost my bf because of being fat. So I don't trust prescription pills and I hate them. About antioxidants, I only exchanged a bottle, if it is useless, I won't use it. But I read reviews about people being so happy with their skin by the help of antioxidants.
If you are "obsessed" with your weight then you need therapy. The pills did NOT make you put on 30kg in one year, you put on 30kg in one year because you ate too much. The pills did NOT "destroy your body" and they did NOT give you stretch marks. Your boyfriend left because he is an abusive as$hole, not because you were fat, and you're better off without him.
And again, you don't trust PRESCRIPTION pills, which are heavily regulated and have to conform to standards and go through rigorous testing before being put on the market, but you'll happily take all kinds of scam gimmick pills that have NO REGULATION AT ALL and can potentially kill you. Yeah, that makes TOTAL sense. WTF?!?!?!?!?
The side affect of psychiatry pills is weight gain because they gave you an uncontrollable hungar. Before using them I was 46-50 kg. Then I started ordering pizza at 2am in the morning.
They are on the market because gains overdo sidd affects. Doesn't mean side affects don't exist if there is moderation.I already admitted weight loss pills was a bad idea. It is my way of self destruction. Maybe I was unconsciously hoping for a heart attack.
Thanks for being supportive.0 -

It's a huge problem that way Certainly it may take a lot of trial and error to find the most effective med for it (I had to with unipolar, myself), but please remember that wanting to not take medicine is very much tied to the bi-polar itself, usually. Good luck!
You are right, during my mania I would quit my meds thinking I am fine and I don't need them. But I quit my meds during summer because I couldn't stand being numbed all the time anymore, and I searched for alternative ways of dealing with my problem. I don't use bipolar meds for at least 4 months now, and I am finer than before because I developed an understanding of my illness. I can say to myself "Ok, now I am feeling bad. I could potentially harm myself. So I should just make a tea, listen to calm music and paint." etc and then I wait for the feeling to pass.0 -

One would work well for a couple of weeks until my body was fully loaded, then bad side effects would hit. We would switch to another and I would have to wait several weeks for the other to leave my system before I knew what the new one was really like. Work with your doctor to find an appropriate medication AND dosage.
Also, please take time to learn about hypothyroidism: https://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/000353.htm
I am sick since I am 15... Believe me, I think I used every pill on the planet on variety of combinations with other pills. I have seen multiple doctors, stayed in hospitals, and even got Electroshock therapy while being hospitalised. It was the worse.
I've had depression and anxiety since I was 8. I understand. Our bodies change over time and our medications should too.0 -

You don't need the "antioxidant pills" either. Your system will stay clean all by itself.
I just cannot fathom that you refuse to take your thyroid meds because you don't believe in them but you'll happily buy all these stupid, potentially dangerous, gimmicky supplements.
I believe that I needed thyroid meds because of side affect of another pills that I am taking for my bipolar mood disorder. But I stopped taking them also and found other ways to exist. So now I think I am fine without them. But I might see the doctor this week to make sure and get a blood test done.
I am going to chime in with a +100000 for making sure you take the medication prescribed for you in regards to your Thyroid.
Also please, please don't stop taking your Bipolar medication either .....I don't know what you mean by you "found other ways to exist" but the consequences of ceasing the med. for such a serious condition could be life threatening.
I'm glad you have stopped the useless supplements but try to have some faith in Doctors they do know what they are talking about much more than lay people.....if you don't like your current Doctor or have lost faith in them then change Doctors, find someone you can work well with as the conditions you have require you to be compliant and on board to manage your health in the best manner possible.
I wish you all the best. I really hope you stay safe and well.
Thanks. The bipolar pills never worked on me, I would take very heavy medication, but still have attacks, cut my hands with broken glass, cey and scream and try to kill myself. Those were very difficult days. Then I learned breathing techniques and meditation, and I am trying to apply acceptance and awareness to my life. As you notice I still make bad decisions (giving all my money to garbage pills) and I make mistakes, but I am learning to control my thoughts. It is a process, and I am so much in a better place that I don't care about small things like wasting money, soon I will be able to control that aspect of my illness too...
There are alternative medications for bipolar. If one isn't working, try something else. Meditation and breathing can help, but they won't necessarily carry you through those times when you stop taking care of yourself. I don't know how to ask this without sounding blunt, but are you certain the BF left you over the weight and not because of your described behaviors here? Add in being off your medications, I can't imagine that it was easy for him. I'm not trying to make excuses for him (truthfully, we know very little of this situation), just trying to help you see another possible side to this. Regardless of his reason, you need to take better care of yourself, including taking the medications which can improve your quality of life. When you find balance in your own life, it is easier to bring someone else into it and have that be a supportive and helpful relationship, rather than one that adds to your distress.
The worst case I have seen with hypothyroid, was a man who stopped taking his meds for 6 months, he experienced myxedema coma as a result. This is an extreme example and happens rarely, but it can happen.
My suggestions: Go back to your doctor for the thyroid checks, and have a specialist in mental health work with you on your bipolar (getting the meds right, and adding in the alternative therapies, which you have been experimenting with).
Just my opinions here.
My bf says he just doesn't want to take responsibility, but he still meets with me and has sex with me, ALWAYS commenting on my weight and how I should lose weight. I think he just doesn't want to be dating with an overweight girl. He is the one I call when I need someone to talk to, he definitely cares about me, but not enough to continue having an actual relationship with me. But you are right, my emotional attacks and self-harm defnitely pushed him away, too.
I have tried so many medications and therapies. Believe me, I am just fine now. Even when I am depressed, it takes only few days. I can continue school and I can go to gym. I can talk to friends. I can go out. I can spend alone time. I had so difficult days but they are over...0 -

It's very good to hear you've quit the supplements.
Also, I commend you on your continuing therapy.
The most important part is what I've bolded.
My favourite saying is, "Don't believe everything you think".
Learning to challenge my thoughts has helped me more than anything in my life. It's helped with psychological problems, and with learning about science and the vast world of knowledge.
The bipolar meds will not fix everything instantly. But they are very, very helpful in making it easier to challenge your scary, harmful thoughts.
A combination of therapy, meds, challenging your thoughts, and support from family and friends will all get you out of this mess you're in.
You're on the path, and I wish you the best for continuing it.
Exactly, I know my mind plays games with me, and I learned to realise they are not real thoughts and I learned to stay calm without being affected by them.0 -

I am focusing on myself, I am my priority. But I love him and I am reading books on his commitment issues. I tried dating others or not calling him, doesn't work. I don't call him for a week, next week I call him at 3am crying. Maintaining a regular relationship with him (talking on phone, texting, meeting) is more useful to me at the moment because I need his existence in my life.0 -

If you had a best friend whose boyfriend dumped her, but did continue to hook up with her for sex, and during these times made shaming comments about how she should lose weight, what would you tell her about this man?

I had so difficult days but they are over...
As others have said, he is using you for sex. Stop giving that to him, he will stop coming around, and he will stop making you feel bad about yourself. There is obviously something that is preventing him from continuing in the relationship. What that issue is, is anybody's guess, but I can pretty much guarantee that it is not about your weight. Whatever it is, he is incapable of being honest with you about it, and that is another piece that is worrying.
So you have, dishonesty (he is lying about whatever his underlying issues/concerns are), disrespect, and lack of communication. Those are three very essential foundations for any relationship. I suggest stop giving him sex, stop contacting him. If he wants to change any of these things and come back, you can make a decision at that time, but give it several months. To be honest, you will be in a better place emotionally on your own (from what I am reading here). You should feel complete and healthy and whole on your own, that way any new relationship adds to your life. It seems to me that he is taking away pieces of your self, and you continue to let him.
Take care of yourself first!
ETA: Stop aiming for 1000 calories/day. You haven't been hitting it, so that has to be emotionally exhausting for you, plus it's just not healthy (it's nearly impossible to get enough nutrition foods in going that low). What is the calorie goal MFP gave you when you first signed up? Start with that and then reevaluate.0 -

I strongly suggest following the doctor's instructions. TAKE the pills he tells you to take. Do not take anything else.
When we do what the doctors tell us to do, we often get (and feel!) better.
This, this, this.
I had to live with two family members for most of my childhood who self medicated instead of listening to doctors. It was miserable for everyone involved. And I'm thankful that it didn't lead to any deaths.
Please see a doctor. If you are bipolar, not trusting doctors can be a side effect of the illness.0 -

Tell that to the ants that make their way into the breakroom at work. If a small piece of chip falls and noone really notices, you WILL notice the 50-100 ants eating it later.0 -

No, that is why you need to be sure you understand what you are taking, why and how it should be taken. Here in the US the "how" is on every bottle as I would hope it would be where you are. It will say things like "Take with a full meal" or "may cause drowsiness" or "take with at least 8oz of water".
Some medications get recommended to take with food because alone they may cause stomach upset. Sometimes the medication needs extra time to dissolve and be absorbed by your body so taking with food is recommended to slow down how fast the drug would move through your system. In other instances, food may hinder it's absorption when it is intended to get into your system as fast as possible so it shouldn't be taken with food.
Think of it this way. If you had a medication for pain and you needed to take it right away and took it with food when that would slow down the ability of your body to use the medicine AND would reduce it's abilities you wouldn't be using it to it's best potential. By the same token, If you were supposed to take it with food because it can cause vomiting on an empty stomach, it would be wasted if you took it without it and vomited it back up.
You have to know your meds. Being off a little on aspirin is one thing, but knowing your prescription meds from your doctor is crucial.
And I am with the others that have a hard time understanding that you would be willing to spend so much money on supplements and antioxidants and other things you don't need to go to the doctor for but then would stop taking a medication that someone who went to college for 10, 12, 14 year plus residency to learn how to treat you would prescribe for you and your specific condition.

I like to eat breakfast, take vitamins and the rest of my pills just about as soon as I wake up, so I take synthroid at night, before I go to bed. I have a hard time swallowing most pills, so I need to take them with breakfast...the thyroid is so tiny that it is easy to swallow with water or tea though. Ask your doctor about options.
It's a good idea to read up on any medication before you take it. You can have the best doctors in the world, but unless you are doing your job as a patient (reading the circulars for each med, asking questions) you are always going to run into these types of problems. If your medications don't come with a circular, you can always find them online from the manufacturer.
It seems like it might be a good idea to focus on all of your psychological issues (bipolar, binge eating, etc.) and get in a good place with all of those things before you spend a lot of time and frustration on weight loss. At your age, you still have a chance to get your life together, but that won't happen unless you get all of your mental issues under control. The weight can always be lost later.
Bipolar depression is a HUGE challenge, but I do know people who have been able to get it under control and live productive lives. It takes work and dedication, but it can be done.0 -
I think you need to throw away anything you've bought over the counter
Hotfoot it to your doctor and get a complete medication review
Then take the meds you are prescribed
Do not take anything else
And accept, as you've been informed a millionty-one times by my reckoning, that your body detoxes itself naturally. Nothing toxifies your body unless you ingest actual toxic substances like poison in which case you would need an er

No I take them with breakfast. Though, I just hate being sick I guess, so I show many psychological symptoms
Um.... pretty sure you're supposed to be taking those on an empty stomach and not eating anything for an hour, and not even taking vitamins for at least our hours, let alone whatever supplements you were taking...
"Levothyroxine works best if you take it on an empty stomach, at least 30 minutes before breakfast. Follow your doctor's dosing instructions and try to take the medicine at the same time each day.
It is very important to take Levoxyl with a full glass (8 ounces) of water. The Levoxyl tablet can dissolve very quickly and swell in the throat, possibly causing choking or gagging."
Same goes if you are using generic Synthroid or Levoxyl. It's all just levothyroxine with a different name. Maybe try these if you are feeling nauseous....... AS LONG AS THEY DO NOT DEVIATE FROM THE INSTRUCTIONS ON THE BOTTLE YOU WERE GIVEN.
Interesting, I thought I should be taking them with food I thought that applied to all pills
Just shocked at that comment0 -
As someone who has underactive thyroid u really need to take your prescribed meds...im not sure what meds you are on but im on levothyroxine....they actually do help the metabolism once you reach the optimal level of tsh...its just getting the dosage right....0
