What I did to lose today: had a really really bad day today! Did no exercise at all and I ate a slice of cake!! Didn't reach my step goal for the day... I stayed within my calorie goal despite eating a slice of cake! It was my son and partners birthday today and I'm smothered with a cold so I don't feel overly down on myself but certainly tomorrow will be a better day!
I can relate to this , it was my husbands 70th birthday on Sunday so we had a big family party at which I ate far to much, and there is still cake floating around which I'm going to bin today as I can't deal with the temptation. Still these are special days that don't come around to often, so as long as I get straight back on the wagon there's no harm don't.
    Have a good day all.

I actually lost a pound! I was sure that I would be regretting yesterday and that slice of cake even tho I skipped dinner and stayed within my calorie goal... I genuinely felt so guilty like I had undone all my hard work. I was afraid to stand on the scale but I feel relieved now that I have. I'm off for a walk now to make up for being so inactive yesterday!

Yesterday I racked up 190 minutes exercise. I need a maximum 1400 this week for our match in the Quiddich Cup. This is part of the Hogwarts Weight Loss Challenge.

This morning I pre-logged my food. I have found this invaluable as it means I can maintain my Carbs/Fat/Protein balance. It also lets me factor in healthy treats and my daily chocolate ration. :naughty:

What I did today to help me reach my goals. Sadly to say....NOTHING! I am so mad at myself. >:)

Yesterday was pretty much the same for me aside from being under my calorie goal and exceeding my step goal by the steps it took me to walk around the house before bed I did nothing!! I'm normally up around 15,000 to 20,000 steps and do a workout in the evenings but yesterday I found excuses "MIL is staying so need to do x,y and z around the house... And its lightly misting now I can't go walking" I'm disappointed in myself I'm normally so good.

As Izzy says, Do not give yourself any outs

Did you know that there are indoor walking videos on YouTube which can overcome this. Just do a search for walking indoors.

I do HIIT most evenings so a walking Video wouldn't cut it for me the walking is on top of work outs. I had a bad few days with MIL staying with us and birthdays and I'm sick but I'm back on track today have done my walk and am doing my work out after kids are asleep. I made good meal choices today and I feel a lot better.

Yesterdays weight was 199 lbs . Gained 1 lb and I am not happy about that.
What I did today towards my goal ? Water aerobics class for 90 mins and treadmill for 35 mins. I way too close to 200 . I am not going to cross that threshold again.

Ok I have lost 3lb since Monday.. I weighed on two different scales today to be sure my one hadn't gone mad but yep a 3lb loss... I'm afraid that's too much in only two days. Do you guys think I should bring my calorie intake up a little?

    Weekly Check In:

    10/6- 198 lbs
    10/13- 197.5 lbs
    10/20- 197 lbs
    10/28- 198 lbs

Ugh! A step in the wrong direction! If I'm honest with myself, I haven't made the best choices this past week. I've been ALL about salty munchies. And it doesn't help that I've just stopped taking my water pill since my BP was so improved.

Reality Check!!!! I REFUSE to go back over 200 sooooo.... going into next week with a renewed attitude.

    Good luck to everyone!!!!

Congratulations to all who have lost weight this week.

I only work 2 days a week and today is one of my work days. I find it much easier to stick to my calorie target on work days, because the only food available too me is what I take in with me, I purposely don't take any money with me so I can't buy anything else.
I've logged all my meals for today and I'm doing a spin class this evening which will stop me eating out of boredom .

Had to up my calories as it was effecting my milk supply again so I'm on fenugreek for the next week and eating 1800cals as milk supply will have to get priority. I'm going to up my work outs to make up for the calories. This losing weight is a mine field when your breastfeeding. 1800cals is still enough to lose weight when breastfeeding tho so hopefully this works.

I started prednisone 3 days ago (and will be on it for 3 months) and am terrified of what that will mean for my weight loss since you hear horror stories. But right now it seems as if I am still losing and my appetite hasn't increased to much. I stepped on the scale today and have lost 6 lbs so far.

Great to see everyone posting and staying accountable. I have been so busy with home renovation projects that I am so lost. I need to get back on track and slow down. I have had no time for anything other than work and the renovation. Have not been eating very well either. I have my 6 months recheck with my doctor 2 days before Thanksgiving. I need to go on the Paleo Diet for a while to jump start my weight loss again. Sorry that I have not posted Today's tip the last couple of days. I will be back on track Monday. Hope everyone will have a great Halloween!

    More Than Effort

It takes much longer to lose weight and more effort than this simple combination of diet and exercise, even when all good intentions are there.” It’s easy to trip yourself up along the way with common diet mistakes or by not being vigilant in your efforts. Skipping meals can lead to food cravings and overeating later in the day — reaching for whatever food is available and making up for the missed calories by eating more.

Weekend indulgences add up very quickly. Having an appetizer before dinner, eating extra snacks, and splurging on dessert and alcoholic drinks will increase your daily intake by several hundred calories. The problem is that whatever is eaten over the weekend will have an impact over the entire week. EH

    Health Benefits of Sleep

In addition to preventing obesity and overweight, getting enough high-quality sleep every night can help prevent heart disease, stroke, depression, and other chronic disorders. When we sleep, the body gets a chance to repair and restore itself. If it does not have enough time to do this over the long-term (chronically), then stress hormones and other inflammatory factors are released, as the body begins to react as if it were under chronic stress (which, without enough sleep it is). One of the main players in terms of stress hormones is cortisol, which is released in response to chronic stress.

Among many other of its influences on the body, cortisol causes glucose (sugar) to be released into the bloodstream so that it is more readily available to feed the brain. As an evolutionary response to chronic stress, this probably worked quite well, enabling a person under stress to respond with more brain power. However, in today’s world, an unwanted side effect of cortisol’s actions is the tendency for weight gain. (ABH)
