Bethe – glad Wade did well with his shots.
Lynn – hope you’re home and feeling well. I can’t wait to hear how everything went!
It’s only 82 degrees today, still hot but a nice change from the 95+ weather we’ve had the past few days.
Thanks Ronya! He did get quite cranky yesterday afternoon during closing chapel at my kids' school :blushing: But he is slept well last night and is doing fine today.
Same thing with the weather here. Nice change from the hot 95+ weather. Yesterday was so odd when it got down into the 50s after the hot Monday through Wednesday. Today we are in the low 80s.0 -
Congratulations, Lynn!! So excited for you and DH! Your little man is so handsome! Hope you all are doing well and getting some rest! :flowerforyou:
I'm the same way about relationships with girls - only a few. All of my cousins are guys, and I hung out mostly with guys in high school, too. Love that we're all so similar!!
Danielle, I don't have any great advice on the swimsuits except that if you go the maternity route I saw a ton in JCPenny over the weekend.
Bethe - I hope Wade has a good day today after the shots. Annabelle has hers on the 24th.
Thanks Megan! He is doing quite fine today and sleeping as we "speak." Yay!0 -

My Dr's office just called and said that I didn't pass my 1 hour gloucose challange. Now I'm so frustrated and annoyed that I can barely think!!! They said that I can study up on diet and suchlike and eat like I'm diabetic for the rest of my pregnancy or I can pay to go have the 3 hour test done. I don't want to do either!!! Uggg!!! My midwife is gonna flip and totally want to restrict my diet which makes me think that I really want to do the 3 hour test unless the cost is totally unreasonable. If it would come back positive then fine. I'll change what I eat. I just hate to go to the bother of totally changing my lifestyle if it's not absolutely necessary. Rant over. Now I need to get off here and go get something done while DS is asleep. I made 34 1/2 pints of strawberry jam to sell yesterday. Went and got more strawberries this morning and now I have enough to make three times that much. I think I'll save some to do next week, but hey won't all fit in my fridge so I've got to get to the ones that aren't fitting. And I need to mow. And I need to hoe the garden, put posts in for one planting of tomatoes, string up the other planting of tomatoes, mulch some stuff, hoe flower beds, and tomorrow morning I'll need to pick the strawberries in the garden. And have I mentioned that I'm really tired of the 90 degree weather!!! Sorry folks, I did say end of rant a while back didn't I. Guess it was just the end of that one. Thanks for hearing me out. Now I've gotta go work on strawberries and meditate on cutting sugar out of my diet.0 -
Its been a super rough week but I just read up on everything. I am ready for just a nice relaxing weekend with no plans.
CONGRATS LYNN! He is adorable!0 -
Thanks for the invite ladies!
Esca Eirnin was born last Thursday June 2nd, just before noon, into my hands, in the birth pool. It was a quick, intense labor starting w/ my waters breaking during sex, LOL. He weighed 8lbs 7.5oz.
I am 33 lbs over my prepregnancy weight. I am watching what I eat and now I can count again since we finally have internet, just today after three weeks of no contact.
Other than that, busy w/ house and garden.

You are amazing!!! I don't get that much done in a week! Go mama try not to worry to much about the test, if it's not crazy expensive I'd probably go for the 3 hour.
Trying to type on iPhone and it's not so easy... I'll check in later.Copied from Pregnancy Group......

I will be more active again. I missed you ladies.0 -
Glad your vacation went well Anne. I bet it is super nice to be in your own bed again!0

Welcome back Anne! We've missed you too!0

My house is ready for my in-laws to get here Tuesday, which means I’m exhausted from cleaning so much. Tomorrow is our second wedding anniversary. We’re not doing anything too special, just going to go out to dinner tomorrow night, but I’m looking forward to a much needed break from cooking.
Hope everyone is having a great weekend!0 -
hey all! I'm back. We're doing well all things considered.0
-
Welcome back Mel! We have missed you. Congratulations on the birth of your baby boy.
Ronya, happy anniversary! Hope you and your husband have an enjoyable night tomorrow.0 -
Hi Ladies.
Sorry to be MIA for a week. Hubby had an assignment to do so hogged the laptop all week.
Congrats to all the mummies who've just given birth.0 -
Happy anniversary Ronya!!0

Happy anniversary, Ronya! Food is our big thing for our anniversary, too. Ours is Saturday so we're already planning and drooling over what we'll have for dinner that night.
Welcome back, Patricia!
I posted this on the pregnancy board earlier, but I took it super easy yesterday and I had way fewer (BH!) contractions. It's so hard for me to take it easy when I feel like there's so much that needs to be done in the next few weeks. I guess I have to figure out how to do it without overdoing it.0 -
happy anniversary Ronya and Julie!
Ok... for all the BTDT mommies, I have the meet/question session with a ped office tonight. I want to ask about vaccines but is there anything else I should be asking about? I know I want to make sure I know how soon I can get an apt in case of emergency. But what else?0 -
You can ask if they come to the hospital when the baby is born. I know some pediatricians and family practices don't come to the hospital, so you have to use the on call pediatrician for the initial stuff.0

Thanks ladies, I just got a beautiful bouquet of orange roses and carnations delivered to my office!  We decided to go to Red Lobster tonight. I made sure I packed a super healthy lunch and snacks because I plan on having several Cheddar Bay Biscuits!0

sorry double post from pregnancy!
I had a very weird apt. today so I am hoping some of you can help me sort through it. This may be long sorry. I went in, I gained 2 lbs in the last 2.5 weeks so at 32 weeks 3 days I am up 17 lbs. My dr. talked to me about my getting sick and told me that since I am gaining she isn’t going to make me do anything but gave me the option of getting a medicine pump and having a home health nurse come give me an IV daily…. I respectfully turned those down for now. Then she did the heartbeat, 156. Then she did the fundal height measurement and I measured only 29.5 weeks (which was the exact same as my 30 week apt). She was worried about that so she sent me over to get an ultrasound. She did say that the measurements can be off for SO many reasons and that the US measurement was way more accurate. So I got another US (kind of fun but I was worried the whole time), my fluid was good and at the end the gestational age was 33 weeks and 2 days…. A week BIGGER than she is supposed to be. So my FHM was 29.5 weeks, I am 32 weeks 3 days, and she measured in the US 33 weeks 2 days. WHAT? The technician said she looked great and that the dr. would look over it and unless something was wrong talk to me about it at my next apt. She was still a she and estimated to be at 4 lbs 7 oz which is the 48th percentile. She also had a big head measuring at 34 weeks… yikes. I guess it was just odd and I don’t know what to think, do you think they will move up my due date or leave it alone?0 -

Hello everyone! I apologize in advance for what I'm certain will be a long post, and to those on the other board who already suffered through it! I swear I've gotten on here a dozen times to write this - and then had something pop up! But ok, here goes!
I'd like to title my story - "Birth plan, what's a birth plan??"
My Dr called on Monday at 5pm and said she wanted me at the hospital within an hour and they were going to induce me due to the beginning of preeclampsia. I assumed induction meant they'd start me on pitocin and that'd be it! Yea, not at all.....
The first thing they did was start me on magnesium sulfate for my blood pressure. They explained the side effects like the same you would feel from a hangover - so we weren't allowed to have any bright lights on, no tv, or anything that was "overly stimulating". Ok, no big deal. Next came an IV of saline to keep me from getting dehydrated from the mag - ok. And then she brought out the catheter The mag makes you feel like your limbs weigh a ton, makes it hard for you to walk, and so it is hospital policy that anyone on mag has a catheter. I pitched a fit about this one....I suggested they give me a bedside commode or bedpan. The nurse said they needed to monitor my urine output and because a bedpan could spill it was out of the question, and it was "too risky" to assist me to a commode, so alas I had to have the cath. This was probably the most painful/uncomfortable thing I experienced through my whole hospital stay - it sucked. So this is about 7:30 Monday night, now I'm in bed for good, nothing but ice chips. At 9 pm they gave me cytotec - a pill they put in my cervix to thin it out. They gave me another one at 1 am, and they started the pitocin at 5 am. Hubby and my mom were both there.
At the 7am shift change I met my new nurse for the day - and she was THE BEST! I started having contractions right around now, so about 2 hours after they started the pit. My Dr came around 8 and did a check, I was 3cm and 100%. She gave instructions to keep increasing the pit, and said she would be back around noon to break my water. She didn't have to - my water broke on it's own at 10 a.m., and after that the contractions starting increasing and getting stronger. They were tolerable though - like period cramps that came in waves. They decided it was time to start my antibiotic for the strep, so I now had 4 things through IV - mag, pit, saline, and vanco - and a catheter. My Dr. still came around 1:00 and checked me, I was 4 cm, and she wanted an internal contraction monitor put in, and instructed them to keep up with the pit. I was tolerating everything really well - considering the fact that it took an army of people to help me roll over in bed, which is something I wanted to do frequently. Hubby was great, my mom is an RN and her and the nurses worked so well together. This is when things really started rolling. I was having lots of contractions, strong ones, about 8 every 10 mins, and I was doing fine. Breathing helped, mental images helped, and another weird thing I started doing helped too. For some reason, I started thinking of a song in my head, and as the words went through my head I pictured myself typing them on a keyboard - weird right? Don't know where that came from but it really helped me focus so - I ran with it!
The nurse felt that my uterus and the baby needed at least a min in between contractions to relax, so she backed off on the pit a bit at around 4pm. At that point my body had taken over and I was having contractions on my own. I was really proud of myself for how well I was doing, I was so confident - I could do this. They checked me again and I was at 5 cm. And then things started getting crazy.....I started having the worst pains ever in my back - no way to describe it. Hubby started doing some massages and bless his heart - they didn't help at all. Then I started puking, which really sucked. Oh - and when you're on mag they have to draw your blood every 4 hrs to check your mag levels, so mid-puke here comes some broad to draw my blood - um I'm a little busy I just threw my arm over and let her at it....
At around 6 one of the nurses check my cath bag and it was the craziest thing I've ever seen, it might as well have been full of nothing but blood. At the same time they checked me and I was still at a 5. My Dr told em to hit me again with the pit. And this is where I lost it... I was still puking, peeing blood, and all I could do was roll from side to side. As much as I wanted a natural birth, I asked for an epidural, and cried at the same time. I felt like such a failure, but I knew it was the right thing to do.
My Dr showed up a bit later and did some checking, and figured out that the reason I was peeing blood and my dilating had stalled, was that baby had my bladder pinned up into my pelvis. His head couldn't get up in there, but my bladder was. She sat down on the edge of my bed, and said I know you don't want to hear this, but we need to do a c-section. I really don't want to risk rupturing your bladder if we let you continue to labor. I really felt like she was being sincere - that she was really doing it because it was the best thing to do, not because she wanted it to be over, or because she was tired of me being in labor. So, we went from plan a to plan b. I cried, it was the last thing I wanted. My nurse came over and hugged me and told me I did everything I could and that it wasn't my fault. My hubby held me and reassured me that I did great, and that it was what had to happen.
Next thing I knew we were getting wheeled into the c-section room. They had me on the table and increased my epi just enough for the c-section. I started to panic a little bit in my head but I knew better than to say anything or they would have knocked me out, so I kept my cool. And they started...it was the craziest thing. I could tell they were having a hard time - I didn't know until afterwards that it was because my son is huge lol. As soon as he came out he cried - loud and healthy cry! Hubby and I started crying instantly, and he got up and followed them in to check him out. They weighed and measured him, swaddled him up,and brought him to show me, instant love like I never knew was possible. They let hubby hold him and sit next to me while they finished me up. I went in to the recovery room and hubby and baby were right behind me. He was breastfeeding within 45 minutes of he start of my c-section. And by the way - the boy is a natural! The Dr. told me in recovery that if I would have somehow dilated and had him naturally, he would have ripped my bladder and my lady bits into a million pieces.
I had to stay on the mag for the next 24 hrs to keep my blood pressure down, so that meant another 24 hrs in bed and on the catheter. None of that mattered now though - I had my baby. I finally got out of bed at 8:30 pm on Wednesday night and hubby helped me take a shower, which is something that brought us really close together.
We got discharged to come home on Friday morning, and have been enjoying every sweet second together. He sleeps good, eats great, and poops a lot
I have a bit of the baby blues   I could ask someone what color the grass is and cry when they tell me green. I'm sure it's hormonal and normal and will pass. I go tomorrow for my follow up and to have my stitches taken out, and Joshua has his appointment on Wednesday with the pediatrician.
Whew....I knew that was going to be long and I'm sorry :flowerforyou:
I love you all, and I hope you are doing well!0 -

Lynn, thank you for sharing!!!! I love birth stories!! Please dont feel like a failure... there's a reason for epis and csections and I'm glad they are there when they're needed! I'm proud of you and so glad yall are doing well! I had some funny emotional days those first few days/weeks too, I think it's normal (prob due to lack of sleep too! ) Enjoy your handsome little man :flowerforyou: - time really does fly by now! Annabelle is already 2 months old tomorrow!:noway:0

Hey ladies! Nice to see you all. We finally got internet three days ago. Baby Esca was born June 2nd, just before noon. After an intense, quick labor starting w/ my water breaking while making love, LOL. I caught him into my hands, in the birth pool. All my kids were downstairs praying the rosary and came in just after.
