2/1 - 1.6 miles - 3K fun run with my friend John, who just lost almost 100 lbs :sunglasses: Oh yeah I realize 1.6 isn't a 3K but that's what they called it even though my watch said 1.6
    12/2 - life day
    12/3 - 5 miles
    12/4 - no mojo day
    12/5 - 7 miles
12/6 - 3.9 miles trail run with my running group
    12/7 - 5 miles
    12/8 - 12 - wrist surgery recovery
    12/13 - 4 miles
    12/14 - resting knee
12/15 - 3.5 miles with Skip - we ran after work and the lights on houses are so pretty - knee started to hurt at 2.5 so we cut it short
    12/16 - resting knee
    12/17 - 4 miles

    34 of 120 miles

He said that it was really poor service and he wonders how many other customers have been mistreated.

I am soo grateful for being able to return the shoes - I couldn't thank this man enough! The poor guy.. Think I made him blush

You found a REALLY good one! Like your doctor and your hair dresser - find the good ones, and keep 'em happy, 'cause that's what they do for you!

My motivation since my BQ has been nil. Maybe it's because my qualification is for 2017 so I know I have a lot of time and I spent the better part of the last year and a half focused on nothing but hitting that goal, but right now I feel like I just fell off a motivation cliff. I am hoping that changes after the holidays because it's been hard to get my butt out the door and that is not at all how I usually am.

I think in the future I am going to need to have another January marathon on the schedule. I think that is what helped keep me going through these dark days last year...and it was waaayy colder!

Yeah, I had that lost/no motivation feeling in November. I ran a BQ in May, got through the series of 4 halfs that was my major goal at the start of the year, and broke 1:30 in my 5th half of the year on November 1. Everything left on the schedule looked routine and inconsequential compared to that half PR, and it was too soon to start seriously training for Boston.

The feeling passed, and I got motivated to build my base before starting the structured Boston training program. But if my Boston were 2017 instead of 2016 . . . yeah, it would still look a long way off and not quite real yet.

I am just popping in to say hello from Costa Rica. I have been running about 3.5 - 4 miles while here in the heat and humidity and up a nice hill on a rainforest trail. Hopefully this will be enough for me to be ready for my HM on the 27th!
I will update my overall progress next week when I get home. I won't be able to get caught up with everyone or make comments to all but from what I have read everyone is doing great and making progress to their goals!!

Here is a picture from my rainforest trail paradise! Other than the heat and humidity it is fantastic!

I'm just putting this in as a place-holder, since otherwise you all will get 20 pages ahead and I won't be able to find my list!
@5BeautifulDays I now keep a running total in a text file that I just update-save and paste into MFP.

Wait...what?! Bling for early registration??? Didn't know there was such a thing...will check and find out!
The Last HM I registered for They had a Bling Bin of Odds and Sods ( Headbands, Tees, Socks etc. including some Gels and Energy bars, Probably last years stock items or Loss leaders from vendors ) that we could just pick something - Got me some Knee High Smart Wool Socks - loving them for the extra layer of warmth on my calf's in the last few colder winter days. Bling is Bling no matter how big or small.

To put Running in Perspective: 88 year old Canadian" Betty Jean McHugh proceeded to obliterate the world single-age record in Sunday’s Honolulu Marathon.
Playing hurt, McHugh crossed the finish line in six hours, 31 minutes and 32 seconds. No 88-year-old woman has ever run the marathon faster."
@mwyvr I think she is from your general area.

    12/12- 16.00 long slow run
    12/13- 10.05 easy
    12/14- 6.07 easy
    12/15- 8.21 hills
    12/16- scheduled rest day
12/17- 8.18 easy with fast finish
    12/18- scheduled rest day

    Total- 114.09
    Goal- none stated

Today's notes: 8.18 miles in 1:03:37, for an average pace of 7:46 per mile. Took almost 3 miles to warm up, then mile splits ranging from 7:37 to 7:44 felt pretty good. Depending on which reference I believe, that's either the fast end of my easy range or slightly faster than easy should be. Finished with a kick for the last 400 m, slightly faster than T pace. Felt good after yesterday's rest day.

    Upcoming races:
Dec. 19, 2015 Reindeer Run 5K (Rochester, NY)
Jan. 1, 2016 Resolution Run 7.5 mile (Mendon, NY)
Jan. 9, 2016 Winter Warrior Half Marathon (Rochester, NY)
April 18, 2016 Boston Marathon (Hopkinton, MA)

Great group run! A lot of people showed up for the ugly sweater/holiday party. And there were many cookies and lots of beer, so I'll keep it short and sweet since I consumed more than my fair share of the alcohol. As long as I'm not hungover in an airport tomorrow, all is right in the world. ;)

(I'm in the Reindeer sweater and super tall Christmas tree hat; only those who wore "ugly" sweaters are featured in this picture)

I won the award for "Most Consistent" group run attendee, which I hoped I would win since I've gone to this group every Thursday evening since I started in April (except for the 2 weeks I was at home in Iowa in June). I love this group and all the people in it, and it's grown so much since I started! I am going to be so sad to leave in June when I graduate and am forced to move away because job markets :(

    5/1/2016: New Jersey Marathon

OK, I think I am officially more of a danger to myself when I'm walking than I ever have been running! Managed to yet again step off a sidewalk funny last Sunday and twisted my ankle. Sigh. So no run that night and between that and traveling, I didn't do anything til tonight. I'll catch up though-I think I can, I think I can, I think I can :)

    12/2 4 miles
    12/6 6 miles
    12/10 6 miles
    12/11 3.5 miles
    12/17 5 miles

Now to try and catch up with this thread! 256 new posts to read...but I know they'll keep me motivated to think I can tomorrow night too.

Did week 8 day 3 of C25k. Next is the complete 5k! I'm looking forward to completing it since my 5k on Thanks giving had a min or so of walking. So this would be my first full 5k since a year and 4 months ago when my injury and then health issues all popped up! I feel like I'm getting my head back into the game as I've been doing my c25k no matter how early I have to get up, or how crappy I feel. It's awesome to be reminded of how good it feels to conquer! I feel confident that next month is going to rock!

@Becky_44 Well done so far, and good luck for the next run! Go for it!

5.4 miles in the cold, wind and snow. 20F with wind gusts of 24mph. I ran 3 loops in the neighborhood and after one loop I had to get warmer gloves. Other than that, I'm doing well adapting to my first winter of running. Due to the wind I did don a base layer under my running shirt and a very thin wind breaker over it. On the second loop the snow started coming down hard enough that I couldn't see my tracks on the third loop. The onset of snow gave Kody a shot of energy, as it did for me. I was in a hurry to get home to eat so I stepped up my pace as I ran, going 10:20, 9:40, and 9:13 on each loop. Rest day tomorrow.

    @ceciliaslater, love the profile picture!
@runner_girl83 congrats on the new shoes and more importantly, finding a great store!
@shanaber thanks for the photo. Very different than the terrain and temperature I'm running in now. Hope you're having a fantastic time.
@juliet3455 holy crap that's some cold running weather!
@kristinegift looks like a fun group!

Did my fastest time on 2.1 miles yet (just started back up again and I'm on C25K Week 6, Day 3).

I forgot from my past running experience how much I enjoy running when I've built up my stamina! I felt like I could have gone forever on Sunday!!!

    December Mileage= 4.5/35

C25K week 7, day 1 done. I'm about a half a mile slower than the app wants me to be, but on the plus side I'm way faster than I used to be!

    December Mileage=6.5/35

Finally getting to update my mileage...December Mileage=15.5/35

Gotta start cracking down to power through the rest of December.

December Mileage=18.6/35....slowly but surely!! Trying to read through all the posts. Great job everyone!

Those are some great splits. Very nice! However that wind-mph that I bolded is the only thing I'm dreading about returning to the Midwest for a couple weeks. In NJ, a windy day is 5-10 mph, sometimes as much as 15. In Iowa (much like in Minnesota), it doesn't count if it's not gusty enough to blow you over and gets into the 20s range!! Brr! Glad you've invested in plenty of layers!

1-6.65mi build up run from 13:07-11:04
    2-strength and yoga day
3-6.69mi fast run 11:40, technically. but reality is we have 5 min warm up and potty breaks for the dog
4-rest day, maybe yoga day. feeling poopy
5-13.17mi I was only scheduled for 11 but I was feeling so good at 9 miles I went on and decided to do a whole 13. I have to say a marathon isn't that scarey now.
6-3.18mi for recovery and to do the Runkeeper Global 5k
    7-yoga
8-rest day. so tired i'm dizzy. not sure why
9-no sleep last night-rest. I'm calling it recovery week from the 18miles this weekend  aerial yoga at night
10-3.12mi with hills, including two steep ones. top of quads and hips still feel extremely tight
11-planned on running but was too tired still. rest day
12-10.37 it went well. I was supposed to run the last three with my stepdaughter-to-be but typical teenager, she slept in. tried a new trail. it was nice and foggy. good run
13-meant to make up the other three. didn't happen
    14-yoga day.
15-6.56mi They felt fast. I felt fast. runkeepers updates overall made me sound fast, but i was slow. 1 min off my pace.
16-yoga day. I did a video for the GOT challenge. not as satisfying as my asanas :( Great aerial yoga night though
17-6.48mi. I'm not sure if the distance is right because i ran the same route as the 15th. hard run but i feel good about finishing it
18-rest day. stretchng this morning. working on my splits for yoga. yoga tonight of some form or another

    exercise.png

    upcoming race:
feb 13: Steve Cullen Healthy Heart Run/Walk
(tenative) mar 14: The Great Pi Run 5k. I want to do it but SE vacation may get in the way. :frowning:

@MorningGhost14 I plan on upping my goal but probably not nearly doubling :pensive:
I've been lucky not having too many flares and being relatively injury free. i was thinking 75.

    @shanaber love the pic!

I'm still sitting out with the extensor tendonitis. My rehab specialist suggested I take an additional week off running with the angry piriformis. Both are in a flare up.

She hinted that this may be a surgical fix. Which I though I was ready for. Such ups and downs. I'm fine for 2 weeks, killing some miles, embarking on some speed work. Then back to running is firggin' hard and the pain battle..

Maybe another shot and more PT will get me through the races I have scheduled.

    Love everyone's miles!
