Fiber can be our friend, or our foe. Too much fiber can slow down the colon. Adding a bit of fat can help.0

I have coffee every morning - loads of fruit and veg and plenty of water!
I'm not bloated or uncomfortable ... i just feel like i should be going more than i do - i used to go at least once a day.. now its like 3 times a week (max 4)...
Not painful or difficult when i do have a bm.

I have had issues for years. Regardless of diet. The thing that I have found to work (doctor recommended as well) is Probiotics.0

They say a orange or tangerine a day can help this problem. Stool softener, flax meal and sweet potato smoothie (steam the potatoes so they are soft) with turmeric and I add greens with a half a banana and it. Works!0

I find that whenever I am eating well, I have constipation/BM issues. It seems backwards to me but it must just be how my body reacts/works!
I drink lots of water (over a gallon a day) but it is true that I don't like/eat many fiber-rich foods. I take a fiber supplement daily and then take a stool softener every 4 or so days just to prevent the constipation from getting really bad. I so wish I liked coffee - lol!0 -
I had similar issues...
Ask your doctor about Psyllium Husk. It is a natural fibre and has many great attributes. for example, if you're constipated, add a tbsp. of the husk in a glass of non acidic juice and chug it down. ingesting it this way will help break up the binding in your intestines.
If you are having loose movements, take the husk with yogurt as it helps create bulk down there.
you will feel relieved, trust me.
I usually buy this product from an indian or Pakistani grocery store...Telephone Brand Asabgul ki Bhosle (psyllium husk). I'm not sure if it is available anywhere else. It is similar to Metamucil but I find it works much better.
Try it for a few days and you will be thanking me.

Really? I almost bought some the other day but, didn't because it said it had about 1g of fiber which is next to nothing
No, my friend. 1 tbsp. had 4g of fibre. but what it does is it forms like a gel like substance in your intestines so that movements are more smoother and easier - less struggle to poop. I was told by my doctor not the exceed 2 table spoons a day. it could also have negative effects if too much is consumed.
I should also at that the Psyillum Husk has best results if you drink water throughout the day and avoid carbonated beverages.

This is the brand you want. im not kidding you, it works like magic. take it in the evening and by morning you will have a good movement. it make take a couple of days to kick in. let me know who it goes (just no details of what it looked like, lol)0 -

It's normal to feel the need 30 minutes to an hour after waking up, whatever you drink or eat, it's more likely your body clock than the coffee.

I know this is a terrible plan but darn it's true! For realsies though I recommend pukka "cleanse" teabags, don't worry its not a faddy diet thing just a supermarket herbal tea helps me0 -

There are different type of fiber and they must all be consumed in balance. Too much of one type of fiber will cause diarrhea. Too much of another will contribute to constipation. All fiber is good, and it's all our friend, but you have to understand that not all fiber is the same.

In this case you don't need to worry. When you are on a diet, especially a low calorie diet, the amount of food you are eating is not enough to create the bulk of refuse needed to trigger the urge to visit the toilet on a daily basis. If you really want to go every day, increase your calories and/or eat back the calories you get from exercise.0 -

Some fruits, such as apples, have a lot of pectin. That's "pect" as in "Kaopectate." It develops best if you cut the apples and let them turn a bit brown. It does tend to stop diarrhea, which is not to say that it will constipate you if you aren't suffering from diarrhea.--For me, the key to regularity is lots of fiber, especially beans and high fiber cereal like GrapeNuts, but there are also lots of fiber supplements, like chia seeds or Metamucil. People laugh about Metamucil, but that stuff works. Anyway, Google "fiber" and you'll get lots of charts detailing the highest-fiber foods.0

I definitely have a ton of bathroom issues, I have IBS and dealing with yo-yoing symptoms is just the worst part of my life. I go back and forth between infrequent and too frequent movements. I think I would honestly have to eliminate all foods to pin point causes so I don't really bother like some do. I did some reading and decided to try Kefir, and lately when I remember to have some daily I have been having the best bodily function. I still have occasional issues especially if I don't remember the probiotic Kefir. No other probiotic supplements I have tried did anything.
Oh and it's not like it MAKES you go, it just gives your body more good digestion bacteria to help out.0 -

I eat what most people would consider a clean diet plenty of fiber and water. Have a sit down 2-3 times a day.

I saw someone suggest a ton of flax. Please don't! Too much at once will cause discomfort. If you try it, start with one teaspoon, not three.0

As a person with slow metabolism, and get easily bloated...too much protein can cause constipation. Eating yogurt daily helps so much! Even if it's just a 1/4cup. Make sure to consume it early in the day. Fiber helps too, look for natural whole grain breads.0

Sorry but are your kidding me! Such a *kitten* thing to say?
Its not nothing to do with my last post? My WHOLE life I've had a BM nearly everyday, it just seems wierd to me when i eat clean i only go a couple times a week. I was only curious as to what other people think... or experience.
You may reply and say how you wasn't being rude, and you was only concerned, which if i'm honest is BS.
I read it rude and i don't really appreciate you judging me based on the topics i post about on the discussion board.

To be honest if you have less food in your digestive tract you have less reason to need to defecate so it's quite understandable that the frequency would lessen. So long as you're not struggling or worried I wouldn't bother about it
But I would hit fats minimums for my bodyweight , eat raspberries for fibre cos delicious, exercise and make sure I'm drinking adequately0 -

I never thought of it like that - Im increasing my exercise and water intake this week so we will see - It doesnt bother me at all - Im not uncomfortable, ive just never been so little before, so i was worried that something is wrong...
