Does anyone have any recommendations on gloves? I am good to go with all of my other winter running gear, but I still have problems with frozen fingers. I have 3 different pairs of gloves and none of them keeps my fingers as warm as I would like. Does anyone out there have any "supergloves" they would care to recommend?

I bought some mittens that, I believe are for skiing. The brand is Burke. I wear just the liner when its cooler. The liner is warmer than my North Face thin gloves and with the same thickness. I wore liner and all, in mid 20° windy conditions, and had to ditch them after 2 miles. The are wind proof too. Very toasty.

How do I work out my VO2 max for my Garmin?

Are you asking what kind of workouts to do for VO2 max, or how to set your workout on your Garmin? What Garmin do you have?

The sun was shining and there was no wind so I took my run outside this morning. The roads do have a layer of snow but not too bad. My thighs get wind chilled even tho my legs don't feel cold. I think I will have to wear a second light layer for pants, my shorts over leggings didn't cut it. Temp today was -12c (11f)

I run so much farther/faster outside. I'm not sure how exactly, but my treadmill is ancient so perhaps something is just not calculating properly. My effort seems the same *shrug* Actually scratch that, my treadmill workouts seem to get my heart beating harder.

    1/01 - 4.7 walk/run treadmill
    1/02 - rest, did a half hour x-country ski
    1/03 - 4.5 walk/run treadmill
    1/04 - rest
1/05 - 3.7+ (I shut off the treadmill during the run..oops)11 min steady run
    1/06 - rest
1/07 - 4.4 ran all the run bits, first time. did two 10 min runs. felt awesome.
1/08 - rest, went for a ski, beautiful sunny winter weather!
1/09 - 4.5 ran all the run bits AGAIN
    1/10 - I was a sloth. Ate like I ran a marathon.
1/11 - 4.5 third time i ran all the run bits, must make it true
    1/12 - rest
    1/13 - 4.5 zombies week6 w1. was challenging! but I ran all the run bits again :)
    1/14 - rest
    1/15 - 4.4
1/16 - sloth. more like sloooooooooooooooootttttttthhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
1/17 - 4.5 zombies week6w3. was not as challenging as 1/15. felt like I could do more, outside run
    1/18 - shoveling. x-training?
1/19 - 4.3 week7w1 went good. treadmill run, -25c outside with windchill. I hate the wind.
    1/20 - wonderful x-country ski in the back 40
    1/21 - 4.2 outside miles

Treadmill runner for now, following zombies5k. Running at 180spm seems to be keeping the shin splints at bay.

@rune1990 - I suspect that treadmills can be off quite a bit. When I wear a heart rate monitor, I try to keep my HR in the 130s for my slow runs. Outside, this is usually about 8:40-9:00 mile for me. On my treadmill, this is anywhere from 9:05-9:30. That's a pretty big difference. I measured the deck of my treadmill and count the RPMs to see if it was off (yes, I'm a dork like that), and it calculated to be about a tenth of a mile off. But I can't trust that my measurements are that accurate and I can't calibrate my treadmill, so i just go with it. Plus, other factors may also be involved. But maybe this explains why I hate the treadmill so much!
