Has anyone heard of a neighborhood where they don't want you to jog/run in it?

I live in a place with an association and hoa. I was running and the association leader is in a wheelchair and started following. He never got to talk to me but now I am thinking he's going to tell me I can't run here. Wondering if anyone heard of this or experienced this and if they are allowed to forbid exercise lol!?

    Is it possible he was just going your way ot was out for a wander, gone far enough and was turning around to go home? Why are you anticipating being told you can't run? If you are worried why not get hold of the rules and check what they are anti?

    He was getting the mail the going towards his house and saw me and turned around and went the way I went which is opposite of where he lives. I had the rules but lost them. My boyfriend don't think about it til they say something.

    It's just he saw me and turned around and followed me for awhile. Everyone sounds so negative. Anyway to answer one persons questions it's because the hoa tells everyone not to do pretty much everything...

    Anxiety can make logic fly out of the window, but try to think about it rationally. If exercise is forbidden, and if they wanted to let you know you'd broken a rule, how likely is it that the method they would choose to notify you is by following you down the street?

    Yep - there's a place in my local area where they don't like "outsiders". It's a very, very posh area (roads gated off to cars, £multi-million houses) and you get a lot of disapproving and suspicious looks for running or walking through, as well as lots of signs warning about neighbourhood watch and CCTV. But the roads have a lovely surface, the terrain is just hilly enough to be a challenge, the area is beautiful, the houses are gorgeous and I'm a socialist at heart, so I take great pleasure in running through the area as much as possible :D Oh, and being super polite to everyone I meet, saying excuse me as I pass, thanking them if they move out of my way. It really riles them!!!

    Look at your house rules/restrictions. If there's nothing in them about running/walking (which would be really nutty imo) don't worry about it.

    If you live in the area which has the association, and you have had the rules but lost them. I would imagine that if you broke the rules by running, you would either receive a visit from the association leader or a letter through your door telling you that you broke the rules. I cant imagine a man in a wheelchair thinking he could catch up with a runner to tell her off!

    I doubt the problem was your running. I can't imagine anyone would care, but the association will notify. It is possible he didn't recognize you? Or maybe he thought your clothing inappropriate?

    I wouldn't worry about it, an infraction of a rule like that is usually just a phone call or a letter. I live in a Co-op with lots of rules and there isn't that much they do if you break a rule unless it is a major infraction, like painting your place a color they don't accept.

    Did it ever cross your mind to stop for a second, turn around, say Hi and see if he actually wanted to tell you anything? He probably is now wondering why this rude girl had him chase her in his wheelchair and could not stop for a minute to talk. For all you know, your mail was accidentally delivered to his address and he was trying to give it to you. Or he was about to invite you to a neighbourhood meeting. Or inform you an aggressive stray dog has been seen in the neighbourhood and to be careful.

    You realize the wheelchair marathon record is less than 1hr 20m, the running men's marathon record is right a 2hr 3m. Understand they use special chairs, but a friend who recently became a paraplegic did his first race as a paraplegic at a 10:22 min/mile pace for 5 miles using a regular wheelchair. 10;22 miles are faster than many recreational runners run.

    Not saying the guy in question could catch the OP, but he very well could.

    For the OP, have you seen other people running in the neighborhood? We have a HOA and people are running and biking all the time. Is there a sidewalk? I could see a restriction if you were running on the street, but again not likely.

    IMO, until you get a notification, see it in the rules, etc, don't worry about it. You can probably find the rules on the web if you can't find the paper copy.

    This is probably the best answer IMO

    It would be super hard to enforce a "no jogging " rule . think about watching children play outside?! All they do is run around. It doesn't seem likely that there would be a no running rule in your community.

    I would not worry about it and next time you see him just stop and say hello. There's a good chance that he wanted to speak about something other then running.

    In my neighborhood there is a guy named jerry. He is a busy-body and likes to watch people, follow them around and discuss things like recycling . he walks his cat on a leash ( yes a cat!) And observes everything that goes on. He just enjoys feeling like he's preventing crime or keeping an eye out so this guy could have also just been a busy- body who wanted to see what you where doing or chit chat about neighborhood issues.

    I thought it was unusual for him to follow me because it was 1130 pm. He normally does ask questions if he sees someone. I wasn't afraid of him following me since he was in an electric wheelchair but of it was someone running or walking behind me, I would be nervous about that at night.

    I tried to find the rules online and couldn't fine it on their site. I was running in the street. No cars around and no one else awake.

    He does not know me personally or where I live. Yeah thanks for judging me.

    For 1. I was not rude because I was far away and is 11 pm so not like I am chatting with people while I run.

    I was not near him and I turned around about 100 feet or more before I was near him so I didn't really see him til I saw him turning around and then I was running complete opposite way and he started to follow me because I realized it when I went down this corridor where he couldn't see he and I saw that he was behind me. No one else was outside except me. I like how there's so many rude people on forums.

    I know he is the association leader because he introduced himself once. I just thought it was odd he went very far from where he lives and was right behind me.

    There are some communities that say no running because it is private property. I never see anyone else run here.

    So, he never actually followed you or attempted to talk to you or even approached you, but you just know he is about to send you some warning about running being against the rules? He could have been looking to see what is going on in the middle of the night, he might have wanted to see if you are running for fun or if you are in some sort of trouble, or he could have been just looking for his cat. You are the one making all sorts of crazy assumptions about a guy whom you do not even know, who never even attempted to talk to you, just because he happened to be outside the same time as you did!
