How much sleep are you getting each night? What is your calorie goal (and are you hitting your goal)? What kind of exercise/activity level do you have daily?0
-
I find carbs really energizing. Could you eat more fresh fruit and veggies, perhaps?0

How much sleep are you getting?
Are you currently cutting calories? If so, how drastically?0 -

There's a lot of possible reasons for fatigue. How much sleep are you getting? How many calories are you eating? What are you eating, both in general and for breakfast? Some foods are better for quick bursts of intense energy and others are better for long-term sustainable energy. How is your medical/health status? Ever been tested for food sensitivities and allergies like celiacs? One of the first signs of celiacs is INTENSE fatigue after ingesting gluten-heavy food. Almost no-one has celiacs mind you (1% of the US population or less), and another symptom is abdominal pain, but there are other things it could be, medically speaking.
Typically when you have fatigue posts on here, the most common answer is not enough sleep and/or too low calories. Consider opening your diary so people can offer some less generalized tips.0 -
I am really tired right now too, but getting a little better. The things that are helping:
- Moderate activity
- Staying Hydrated
- Never eating too many calories at one time
- Allowing myself more time for sleep. I don't have to do everything today

I get that way sometimes too, typically when I wake up at the wrong part of my sleep cycle, or when I sleep too much (yes, it's a thing, lol). But if I get moving (after I have two cups of coffee), it helps. So... just do it, you'll feel better.0

thats a good question. I would say on average i go to bed around 1130pm and wake every morning no later than 9am. i do toss and turn alot. But i would say i do sleep well but when i get up i do small tasks and then instantly become tired. like today, i got up and made breakfast for my kids and myself. i cleaned up the living room and kitchen then i seriously felt like i could go back to sleep. As for exercise, i dont even have the energy to exercise yet because im sleepy. My aunt says that im just being lazy but its not that. i dont want to be sleepy all the time. I would love to just wake up and not be sleepy instantly!0 -

Talk to your dr. Could be iron deficiency, a vitamin deficiency, your thyroid. Do not ignore it, talk to your dr.0 -
In addition to other suggestions, if you are depressed, that could also contribute to not having energy (especially if you notice it is worse in the winter when you are exposed to less day light).
I'd make sure you're not at an aggressive deficit, schedule an appointment with your doctor, and make sure your diet contains a wide range of whole foods to maximize the number of nutrients you are taking in.0 -

Yep, that. Had the same symptom...in my case it was anemia.0 -

This is how I felt when I had anemia as well. Of course I was silly, young and ignored it way too long. I ended up in the hospital getting a blood transfusion with a doctor telling me I shouldn't be able to walk.
The doctor should definitely be your first stop.
As for exercise, if I do a bit of cardio, 30 minutes, first thing in the morning after breakfast (walking or jogging) I usually feel like I have more energy the rest of the day. (Plus I get to eat more, yum.) Doing strength training tires me out but makes me feel good and proud.0 -
Most people who start trying to lose weight end up with a B-12 deficiency. Take a supplement.0

when my thyroid gets messed up I feel like I am trying to swim in pudding. I am never very energetic even when it is spot on, but it certainly is much worse when I don't take care of it.0

i may also have thyroid issues. my doc wanted me to get an ultrasound 2years ago on my neck where my thyroid is but i was too afraid.0 -

what kind do you recommend? just like a womans a day?0 -
anemia (low iron)?
thyroid?
B12 deficiency?
D deficiency?
not enough sleep?
sleep apnea?
not eating enough?
This list is pretty much endless...if this is chronic and not just a tired/lazy day then you should see a doctor.

ive had my yearly exam at the gynecologist at the beginning of january. i got my blood checked and everything was fine. but things can change in as little as a week. im thinking about taking another trip to my actual PCP. as for thyroid, my doc ordered an ultrasound 2years ago. i never went. was too afraid. but that may be my issue.0 -

What did they check for? My doctor always checks cholesterol, despite me never having an issue with it, and I have to remind them to check iron, despite having been anemic for decades.
Unless you specifically asked for iron, B, D, etc., to be checked, they probably did not.
Also, are you sleepy upon awakening or after having breakfast?0 -
Don't just throw supplements at the problem--see your doctor. CBC (complete blood count), Thyroid Panel (TSH Free T3, Free T4), B Vitamins, Vitamins D are tests to ask your doc about--and by all means, go have that ultra sound. Serious things are always less serious when you catch them early. And serious things don't go away when you ignore them--they get worse.0

All of this
It's fine to be scared of medical tests but you know what ...you've got to do it anyway ...you're a mother, it's not optional0 -
I had a sudden case of no energy. It was before I was calorie counting so it wasn't a case of not eating enough or adjusting to less calories. I would wake up, be fine for 45 mins, would go to walk up the (single) flight of stairs at work (which normally gave me absolutely no issues) and by the time I reached the top of those stairs I felt like I had gone on a 10km jog. I wasn't overweight and had no pre-existing conditions that would've caused it.
I went to the doctor, afraid of being anemic or worse. 1 blood test later, turns out I had a virus! I was shocked and I even asked the doctor if that was possible despite having none of the typical "I have a virus" symptoms. I needed a week off work and stayed in bed and slept. I ended up fighting it off and went back to life as per usual.
TL:DR - If you are eating and sleeping enough, time to go to the doctor.0 -

You should definitely get tested for underactive thyroid, aka hypothyroidism. You shouldn't need an ultra sound but a simple blood test to see your T3 and T4 levels. I know that feeling of being tired and not wanting to do anything. I was diagnosed 10 years ago and have been on Synthroid since and it helps but it is still a struggle to have energy. Good luck!0
