98% of my exercise is walking. My furthest to date is 18.56km (11.5 miles) in one workout. I went from 218 to 133, pics in my profile.

Walking is and remains one of my main excersises. Intitally it was (bar an hour of yoga) my only form of exercise. I walk to work and everywhere I can. It relaxes me mentally as well as being a good from of excersise.
I like it som uch that for the last two years my husband and I have been on long distance walking holidays (Great Glenn Walk and Hadrian's Wall Path) Where we walked a minimum of 15 km a day with the long days up to 29 km.

Ya, I've had about 40 lbs worth of success with walking. Cool thing is that I've kept the extra weight off for well over a year. Average steps for January was just over 9500 per day. We'll see how February goes. Tying to lose again this year so really trying to limit extra calories.

I hike daily and have been for years but to lose weight you need to be in a caloric deficit. Walking is for heath and well being. It took me 20 years to figure that out, you can not out exercise over eating.

    Amen

Normally I don't add friends that have closed profiles, but sure :)

There was a period when I walked home every night after work -- about 2.5 miles. It had no effect on weight loss, although I did enjoy it and it probably helped me relax. I was in relatively good shape and wasn't overweight so that distance wasn't a physical challenge. But I thought it would make a little difference.

Only exercise I've done pretty much IS walk.
Got my first tracker July 3rd, 2013 and haven't stopped walking daily since. Prefer outside but when too chilly or if it's monsoon season I walk on my treadmill.

Yebo yes. I slimmed down majorly in 2001 when I started moving because of the job I'd had. And no, I didn't decrease what I was eating.

Power walking is my favorite/main form of exercise. I've lost 35 pounds, but mostly from calorie deficit. But walking 4-5 miles at a quick pace (13 min. mile) has not only helped kick up the calorie burning, but also has given me legs of steel!

I have been walking between 3 and 6 miles 5x a week at a 12-13 minute mile pace for almost a month now. I feel great and love being outside. I am curious how long it took for you to have your legs of steel. :) Also, do you think it has made a difference with your hind side?

I'd like to add weights in at some point, but not right now. Maybe after I lost more weight with calorie deficit and walking.
