@kristinegift - I think I am guilty of staying up too late because of Super Bowl. Had planned on a recovery run but after going to bed so late I decided I better sleep in.
@runner_girl83 - I was just going to say that the package will show up, when I saw you did get it. I used to mail my daughter a ton of care packages while she was in school in NYC and that happened several times, always at that Jamaica, NY USPS center. The package would show as being there for 5-7 days, no updates. There was no use in calling, even from the US. And then suddenly the package would arrive. Glad you got it!
@shanaber - love your bling! Forgot to show mine - but all I have is the medal with me today. We got a nice towel, big, and a shirt I love.
Feb 1 - 4.27
Feb 2- repairing/recovery day.
Feb 3 - 4.5 miles
Feb 4 - rest
Feb 5 - Strength training rest
Feb 6 - 34 mile bike ride
Feb 7 - 13.1 HM - New PR 2:18:57!!!

Go figure, I swap out yesterday's run in sunny skies and 50 degrees F (10 C) with today where we are cloudy with 30 degrees (-1 C) and 35 mph winds (56km/h) with 50mph wind gusts.
No way I am skipping out a second day in a row.
Wish me luck!0 -
Just spent 45 minutes catching back up on posts. Looks like lots of people ran good races over the weekend. Congrats all! Sorry to hear about your knee, @Elise4270 ! Hope it gets better soon.
I'm still sitting out at the moment. I can walk easily, but my tendon feels tight when I flex my foot, so I know running on it is a bad idea--still hard to force myself not to, though! Going to the gym today for some strength training. Will continue taking it easy until my appointment next Monday. I may try a short TM run if I feel up to it later this week. All depends on how the ankle is feeling.
My husband was transferred to Prudhoe Bay, Alaska, effective yesterday (he works in the oilfield). Literally signed the papers a week ago today, and he flew out yesterday morning. He'll be home in three weeks, then will start on a 2 week rotation (gone 2 weeks, home 2 weeks--with travel time during his 2 weeks off, of course). Trying to keep myself busy doing housework and such. Wish I could run to blow some of my spare time--injuries suck!0 -
@ddmom0811 - congrats on the PR! I can never get warm after a run. I take a hot shower, drink hot tea or coffee, pile on the layers, and I'm still cold!
@KnordRW - good luck with the training plan!
@shanaber - love the bling!
@kristinegift - fortunately for me an impending snowstorm meant school was cancelled this morning, and I could run off some of those superbowl snacks!
Three miles yesterday, felt really slow and sluggish. Actually I was tired all day and just not feeling it. School was cancelled today because of a projected snow storm, so I went out for six miles before the snow hit. The wind chill was pretty cold, but at least my body didn't feel too bad.

It was hard getting out the door yesterday. While it was a beautiful 40F during the day, by the time I had planned on running the temps were diving, the winds were gusting up to 30MPH, I had been out to eat with my wife, I had absentmindedly eaten a snack right before, I was really tired, and I had so much to do at home. In spite of all the reasons I could come up with for skipping it, I forced myself to go out, with a bit of encouragement from Kody.
I ended up with 4 miles. 1.5 miles easy, then 2.5 miles at tempo pace. Wind seem to be whipping the snow right into my face the whole time.
@kateparry84 congrats on having your best ever run! That feels so great!
@ddmom0811 awesome job, thanks for the report!
@shanaber, love the hardware! Great job on the HM in some very tough conditions.
@juliet3455, glad you had backup shoes! That would have been disaster. I never would have thought about that...that will now be added to my race checklist. Fantastic time!
@runner_girl83 glad you got your hardware! I think sometimes that tracking only works until the package leaves the originating country.

@_nikkiwolf_ So far I'm loving being able to see without my glasses/contacts, but I was so nervous for the procedure!! I was laying on the table just thinking how stupid I was for making this decision!! But my eyes were really bad and I've had glasses since grade school so it was time. Maybe some day you will be able to do it
. And I agree with rest being better than risking my sight, just hoping my sanity holds on long enough for me to be able to get back in gear, we will find out today.

Apparently I did quite the job at running the tangents on the Al Toll 15K, since Garmin posts it at 9.28 miles, and I know I did a good job of starting and stopping it. Wound up at 1:42:49 (11:06/minute), which is slower than I'd like, but the total ascent was 429 feet, so I'm claiming the hills as my excuse. The race itself was fun, I'm just disappointed with myself.
Upcoming Races:
19-Mar: Cherry Blossom 10K, Macon, GA
02-Apr: Run 2 End Alzheimer's 10.5K, Bonaire, GA
16-Apr: Running for Ronald 10K or 15K, Macon, GA

It just arrived!! Brandon from US Road Running contacted me and was really nice too! No idea why it got lost during tracking but glad it made it here!Nice ending to the day!
Haha, yay!! I'm so glad you got it
@juliet3455 Great race report, thanks! And congrats on your PB? or first HM? Either way, awesome! The weather sounded fantastic. I have determined I like 5c to -10c the best...so far. But I honestly can't see myself enjoying running in 30c temps. As you said, there are only so many layers you can remove! ( and I really like layers :P)
@shanaber Yay, another race report! Sorry but seriously I love reading themGorgeous bling! Kinda scary to be so cold on such a hot day.
@_nikkiwolf_ very strategic prioritizing of the injuries, well done! lol. When I first started skiing, I had a terrible fall (to my ego) I hit a slight dip in the terrain and my feet and skis went straight out in front of me and the rest of my body went right backward! I don't know how I managed to NOT break my ankles or do some muscle or tendon damage. Now I can control a fall and aim left or right, lol.

I can't keep up with all the comments - but I do read the thread! Having a not so great start to the month. I was feeling good and not so much now. I'll keep on keeping on though! All scheduled runs are done so far.0

I'd almost look into it. My eyesight has gotten bad enough I hate being without my glasses. But can still see close, so constantly on and off with them. It'll be nice to be out and about without corrective wear!0
