Yup. He's a quack.
http://www.livescience.com/50621-dr-oz-should-resign-poll.html
What's sad is he's a very smart person and was a respected heart doctor. I have no idea why he started buying into the woo, but it's pretty much destroyed his scientific credibility.
Really? He started buying into the woo because it makes him rich, rich, rich. He's nothing more than a prostitute who will sell his endorsements to anybody who will pay him enough money. He has zero scientific credibility and is nothing but a quack and a snake oil peddler.I got told today from someone whos daughters been on it since january and lost 5 and half stone so thought id ask
I agree with the poster above who said that nobody loses 77 pounds in two months - unless they had limbs surgically removed or some grotesquely giant tumor excised. What you're hearing is woo, which is just like anything connected with Dr. Fraud, errrrr, Oz.1 -
My husband lost 30 pounds while in ICU for 12 days, after losing part of his colon. He looked like he was ready to die...a skeleton with skin. Not a recommended weight loss program either.0

I personally have learned a lot of great things from Dr. Oz, I haven't tried his rapid weight loss diet though.
People on MFP seem to hate him.
I think some of his advice is great.0 -

I would take advice from my two-year-old before I'd take any advice from Dr. Oz.
The guy is a total quack.0 -
I did it when I was still a bit naive about my health and fitness. It did work, but I was starving, and the weight came back within days of starting the diet. I wouldn't recommend it. Just follow MFP's suggested calories and eat wholesome, nutritious foods. I've been doing that for some time now and lost over 40 pounds and kept it off.

If Dr. Oz said that I should walk with the bottoms of my feet touching the ground, I'd seek independent verification. If he told me the sky was blue, I'd walk outside and look for myself to make sure it was true. If he said water was wet, I'd pour it over my head before I believed him.
That's how much I value anything Dr. Oz has to say. He's a quack and charlatan of the most extreme kind. He was supposedly once a very good cardiothoracic surgeon, but has sold his soul in the name of money and fame and bears no more credibility than a carnival barker peddling snake oil.0 -

Even a stopped clock is right twice a day... Just because he occasionally tells the truth doesn't mean he should be forgiven for being a lying snake.0 -
I really don't understand why people buy into the Dr. Oz woo.0

Dr Oz, are you here flagging people?0

@NaturalNancy, exactly what great things have you learned from Dr. Oz and which specific pieces of advice do you find particularly great? Please don't flag me.0 -

Either you misheard or you were lied to.
There's no way anyone could lose 77 lbs in less than 2 months, short of some sort of medical emergency or procedure.
I know a guy who lost 50lbs in a single day! I mean, he was never the same after that car accident, but they did set him up with a nice wheelchair.
I lost 220 lbs of unwanted weight in one day! He went back home to his mother.0 -

Maybe it's Oprah doing the flagging. After all, she "created" Dr. Oz and unleashed him upon us.
[ETA:] Which begs another question - Oprah has Dr. Oz and all his magical miracle weight loss potions and diets at her beck and call - so why is she still obese?0 -
Has anyone mentioned that Dr Oz is a quack?0
