Minimal loss again this week...starting to get discouraged My 18 month old and husband both had the flu this past week, making it very difficult to go out to jog. Haven't deviated whatsoever from my diet, actually eaten less since I've exercised less, yet still barely lost anything. Sigh....hoping for better results next week.0 -
Recent Cornell University findings suggest that shying away from the scale can cause those former pounds to sneak back onto your frame—not what you want! According to senior author David Levitsky, people who weigh themselves daily and track the results are more likely to lose weight and keep it off than those who check in less often. The method “forces you to be aware of the connection between your eating and your weight,” Levitsky said in a press statement. “The scale also acts as a priming mechanism, making you conscious of food and enabling you to make choices that are consistent with your weight.”0 -
Hang in there Melly, it will get better. TerriRichard look how far you have come. Be proud.
Iggy211 you are doing great keep it up. Welcome Carol! Michelle that scale just keeps moving that's something to smile about. Limsha 8 pounds so far is GOOD! Just think in another 4 weeks you will be close to 20 pounds.
dalielahdawn 7 pounds down! Great! Keep going.0 -

4 tips to Curb Compulsive Over Eating
Wear fitted clothes. Next time you go out to dinner, don't wear those pants with the elastic waistline. Instead, choose snug clothes that will tell you when you’re full.
Try a fiber supplement. Supplements like psyllium husk capsules expand in your stomach, literally filling you up and subduing that out-of-control appetite. Plus, they're calorie-free and full of fiber, the healthy way to keep things moving.
Remember to hydrate. It not only optimizes body function, it also quells the urge to snack and tames your hunger before a meal. So if you feel like you could eat the entire lasagna, first drink a big glass of water or seltzer.
Don't skip meals. You need three squares a day, plus one snack between lunch and dinner. Don’t go any longer than four hours without eating. That’s when your blood sugar levels go haywire, and you’re more likely to go overboard once you do eat.(JM)(EH)

WALK 45 Minutes
You’ll lose weight and fat if you walk 45 minutes a day, not 30.
The reason we’re suggesting 45 minutes instead of the typical 30 is that a Duke University study found that while 30 minutes of daily walking is enough to prevent weight gain in most relatively sedentary people, exercise beyond 30 minutes results in weight and fat loss. Burning an additional 300 calories a day with three miles of brisk walking (45 minutes should do it) could help you lose 30 pounds in a year without even changing how much you’re eating.

Today's Tip
Wait until your stomach rumbles before you reach for food.
It’s stunning how often we eat out of boredom, nervousness, habit, or frustration—so often, in fact, that many of us have actually forgotten what physical hunger feels like. If you’re hankering for a specific food, it’s probably a craving, not hunger. If you’d eat anything you could get your hands on, chances are you’re truly hungry. Find ways other than eating to express love, tame stress, and relieve boredom.

Ok- I need some help here! How are you all staying motivated? Im great almost all of the time, but... then I have my moments where I just mess everything up its like Im sabotaging myself. I lose 2-3 lbs, then gain it back every week! Or I'll gain the weight, then lose it again. Thinking its probably mostly water weight, but it just keeps happening. And my downward trend has been stopped for a couple months now. Any suggestions?????

If you're worried about water retention reduce your sodium intake. Also, I know it sounds wrong, but drink more water, especially if your sodium is higher than usual. It helps to flush out the system. But don't drink it late at night or you'll be up in the middle of the night.0 -
