You have mad skills that is awesome! Plus the will power....holy crap....impressive!@Madwife2009 that is a gorgeous cake!
Aw, thank you The children enjoyed it, anyway. I have another cake to make for Wednesday (not as elaborate though) as my daughter has just completed her initial training in the Air Cadets so she and her colleagues are "passing out" as it were with a small ceremony. I thought that cake was a definite necessity for such an event (and no, I won't be eating any of it - I get a kick out of making/decorating them)!

I did a 25 mile bike ride today - the first training for the NYC 5 Borough Bike Tour in May. It would have been 20, but I joined some friends riding over the George Washington Bridge before riding home, which I've never done before.

Yesterday was my birthday and we went out for a fancy dinner with lots of good wine. Thanks to the wine, I was hung over this morning. I had to talk myself into going walking at the high school. I told myself just doing a couple of miles would help clear my head.
I ended up walking just over 7 miles and it was my fastest time yet, 14.32 minutes per mile.
Now it's time for a short nap. :-)6 -
Went shopping for spring clothes because even the "thin clothes" I'd held on to are too big. Especially pants! I bought size 4's in a regular size. Last spring I had finally gotten into 16's.
This is so inspiring
I don't think I'll ever be in 4's, I think 6 is the lowest I'll ever go with being 5'9" and with my goal weight, but the idea in itself of that transformation is amazing. And who knows, maybe I'm wrong. Can I ask how tall you are?0 -
Went to grocery store and put back the Dove chocolate covered cranberries. Could of fit it into my calories, but sweets tend to be a trigger for me if have too often.1

You never know! I've read several posts from ladies who say that after lifting for a while, they find their clothing size goes down even though their weight might go up. It must be some form of magic...2 -

You're totally right! And yes, it's definitely magic, nothing else. Haha

I bought some new clothes and didn't have to pay the "size premium" for bigger size. One pair of shorts was actually a medium.0

Getting locked out of the house and crawling through the doggy door. Couldn't have done that 8 months ago.10

I ran a 5k yesterday with no walking breaks. I did run very slowly at first (there with a friend who was walking at a 14 or 15 min mile pace) but then picked it up and ran the second half at about a 10 min mile pace. A first for me! I'm hoping that the next one I do (whenever that is) I can complete the whole distance at a faster pace.2

At airline check-in counter, rep saw my old pic on passport and asked how much weight I've lost and how long it took, then upgraded me to first class as a congratulation gift.20

Took a Zumba class today, which I've only done a few times and not recently, mostly because of scheduling--it's not part of my regular workout schedule but it's the kind of thing I throw in when I want to do something on an off-day or I can't do what I had planned for some reason.
In the past I've always felt like if I could just manage to move in the same direction as the instructor most of the time, that was all I could hope for in dropping in on a strange class--forget about getting the steps right! But today, I guess because I've been taking ballet and jazz classes off-and-on over the last couple of years, I found it so easy to pick up on the steps and execute them! It's like my kinesthetic memory and "sight-reading" skills have improved, which is a really cool thing to happen in your 50s.
Plus, during the cool down, there were a lot of movements that essentially were very high-rep body-weight arm exercises (overhead triceps extensions and various shoulder-height bicep, lat, and delt movements), which I know in the past would have had my muscles burning and screaming, and even the instructor dropped her arms a couple of times to rest them, but I guess doing a "heavy" lifting program (New Rules of Lifting for Women) has had an effect on endurance as well as strength, because I could keep up the reps the whole time.
The cool down also had a number of stretching movements that were similar to yoga postures, and I found I was able to do them easily, which, despite having practiced yoga off-and-on since I was an adolescent, I wouldn't have found easy at my top weight.
It's neat to see improvements made in one type of fitness pursuit carry over to another. It made me happy to see differences in so many areas compared to where I was a couple of years ago.5 -

I'm so happy for you!!! Great job!!! This is a goal of mine, to wear it for the first time in five years. It will happen just like you!1 -
These are small not and may not count? But
-today for Easter dinner, there was no scale available to me to weigh my food, but my mother made sure to have grilled chicken and green beans available for me to eat. I am proud to say I served myself reasonable portions on a salad plate!
- I skipped the lasagne to conserve calories and only had a moderate piece of cake and one helping of ice cream for dessert.
- This was after eating only two very light meals all day leading up to dinner so I could treat myself to that cake and ice cream. After purposefully overshooting calories, I still had enough left for a snack and had a small chunk of cheddar cheese.
I am just so excited every time I show myself how my lifestyle changes are sticking!6 -
