When someone asks how I did it I say "Nothing special, I ate what I've always eaten only less". Then I wink and add "I will probably always have to watch what I eat because food tastes so good."
I hate that there are so many "diets" with "names". When your diet causes you to lose weight, no matter what you call it, it's because of a calorie deficit. So I just call it all a calorie deficit.

I still like cicophant, no acronym, just pun.
"Counting" isn't adequate as you could count 1200 or 4200 cals.
All diets work by restricting calories. And the computer does the counting. I vote for calorie control.
Control does not imply restriction. You can have controlled overfeeding or a hypocaloric diet that is tightly controlled.
That is true. And you can restrict without depriving yourself.
This ain't easy

problem is it just means "what you eat".
That's a usage issue. Diet has multiple usages which can be understood from context. I don't mind the term diet either.
I don't mind the verb form of diet either - "I'm on a diet".
Doesn't have negative connotations to me.
