Ugh, I'm so sorry. I feel like I got lucky finally finding someone who can help--I hope you do too. :(

Mostly I am helping myself. Just got to figure out how to exercise with that hernia.

My Aunt-in-law ignore a hernia for years and she just now had surgery on it, because it had gotten really bad, so if you can, don't give up and find someone who will help you!
I am having digestive issues, and am finally getting to a place that I am hoping can help me figure out what, if, anything is wrong in the GI department, even after dealing with this for over a year now. I am not going to let people write me off. And I agree with
Helping ourselves is pretty much what we need to do. ♥
But part of it too is making sure you find a good medical team, which, yes, can be very difficult.

They won't do surgery unless it is an extreme case. Otherwise there isn't much they can do to help me. And I hope I don't ever get to the point of needing surgery because I don't want any more surgeries unless I'm going to die without it. Also once you have surgery it more than likely comes back and each time it is worse than before. I don't want that. So I do what I have to do to help. Meaning, I don't do things I know makes it worse, I stay away from things that promote heartburn. I also am going to look into exercises that strengthen the diaphragm because that can help.

Oh yeah. Definitely. I have a good doctor now and a very good Rheumatologist. A neurologist and neuro-opthalmologist. I was referred to a GI specialist. It's a year wait.

I'm gallbladder free! I have 0 tolerance for spicy foods. I am unable to eat most nightshades. I get sick from bell peppers and or tomato/s sauce.

Oh I am not saying have surgery, but having it checked on is still something I would push for, as in keeping up with whether it is getting better or worse. I do think, you doing what you can to heal yourself is wonderful! I just would want to see the results and make sure everything I am doing is progressing the healing process, instead of just hoping it is. Like right now, I am taking a break from jogging (I am fighting my way back slowly) and body-weight exercises (want to one one get back to those and progress into heavy lifting) because of the way my abdominal pain (& body) gets after.

Ouch, those waits seem a bit silly to me. I understand it, but at the same time, wish people could get the help they need without all the hoops :(

Could it be an allergy to gluten or dairy - seems to be very common in young people these days.

I thought I was having gallbladder pain but every test has come back normal so I am seeing a gastroenterologist to figure it out. It's been going on for about 5-6 years.

Sorry to read that, hope that if things get really bad that wait gets shortened!

Have you done a elimination diet with her at all, and have they run any Celiac Disease or food allergy test? I can't give you any medical advice, as I don't know, but start with a food diary at least of everything she eats (Not calorie related either!), and a pain diary (where the pain is, the times), maybe write down what she does too during the day and see how it influences her pain. Pretty much gather as much information as you can about daily habits, to see if you can help her doctors find the missing link. There is just so many digestive possibilities to go through.

Mostly I am helping myself. Just got to figure out how to exercise with that hernia.

Post-colonoscopy (no Crohn's!) and endoscopy, turns out I have one too. Twinsies. Mine is also supposedly too small to cause these issues. I'm going to follow up on the SMA syndrome after I finish with some gyno-related stuff the CT found. My doctor is trying to pretend like that could be a cause, and I have no idea how a blocked fallopian tube would give me pain under my ribs.

Glad you don't have Crohn's or UC. Crohn's is a beast that most people don't understand

Yeah that is weird. I just got tired of being told that I couldn't be in as much pain as I am in, everything looks good in blood and yada yada. So I stopped bothering because apparently I'm just an idiot who fakes pain. I don't know why considering I keep telling them not to bother prescribing pain pills they make me sick. So why fake pain if I don't want pills?

I have ulcers and GERD. They have been flared up for months Dr. might operate to fix or remove not sure yet. Very painful leaves a lot of sleepless nights and hot baths to calm the back pain that comes with my stomach issues.

GI doctors here refuse to give pain meds except during hospitalizations. The strongest I can get is tramadol and that does nothing. Crohn's/UC/Ulcer patients can't take NSAIDS (so no ibuprofen) so it is either tylenol or tramadol

Yup that is the issue. I only have tramadol PRN and hardly ever take it because it messes with my digestive system
