@_nikkiwolf_ Nice Shoes - Look like amazing Traction for the Dirt, Mud and Hills. How Stiff are they? I find most Trail shoes to be to stiff ( Extreme Protection from Rocks ) and too narrow in the Toe Box. Of course it doesn't help that I have Extreme Duck Shaped feet.
@Orphia Look at you in that Picture - Flying - Both Feet off the Ground arms up in your Traditional Pose.
Nice 10 km run in 1:11:20 through the Trees and Bush around Misery Mountain.
We did a Counter Clockwise Circuit ( normally go clockwise ) so everything looks different and we got off track a few times so ended up on one of the Upper bench Trails ( unplanned Hill Climbs ) and had to do some off-trail Bush Whacking to get back down to the Middle Bench trail. Somehow getting Lost always becomes fun as you get to explore new areas.

@WhatMeRunning Did you talk to others at the end? If it looks like your Garmin had issues locking (I guess), I'd go by official time. I don't think I've ever had that problem with mine. But then on training runs I doubt I'd notice. Still a Beast of a run! Congratulations! You'll be about the 2 hour mark come Jenks.
Tomorrow is my 3rd half. No expectations. I'm just going to enjoy it. I just sat down eat my first/only meal of the day with my first Moscow Mule.. My new favorite drink. DH will catch up later, so I'm enjoying the runners and atmosphere! Im wondering how many can I drink and still run in the morning.... Ideas?
Lol!

I'm muled! Where's my peeps? Lol! Carry on... Miss all y'all. Tomorrow I'm gonna pretend the whole race, everyone is there. Bahaha! Little lit. Nothing to see here ( until I try walking back to the hotel).5
-
@Elise4270 That walk back to the Hotel is Recovery - especially if you get lost in a Medicinal Pub.

After looking at the map data for my race today there were some notable oddities recorded on the route around the KC Police Academy training grounds. So maybe the GPS data is wrong, but oddly enough it was wrong for every runner I talked to about it by a similar distance.0

Satellite blind spot is possible, but did you try plotting the route start to finish on Strava or GC to see what the route makers say about the distance? Could be an easy way to let you know for sure....1 -
@WhatMeRunning - I was worried this morning when I saw your Strava said less than 13.1 ... was worried that you didn't finish for some reason. So was glad to read here that you finished fine! Very odd about the distance. Like others said, every race I've done has shown more than the advertised amount and @Stoshew71 taught me how to get it close to the recorded distance with some of his posts.
@Elise4270 - have a good time tomorrow!!!

@WhatMeRunning This happened (in reverse) to almost everyone I knew who ran Philly. Everyones 7th mile was about 1-1.5 mins too fast because the reception through Chestnut street was abyssmal and this got my watch off by about 1/3 mile by the end of the race -- very disheartening at the end of a marathon to have to run to 26.5! So perhaps you all lost satellites about the same point due to some kind of block? Very strange!1
-
@WhatMeRunning - Usually my Garmin shows more distance than the race, but it did show me running a mile before the mile marker on a trail race. Besides the well known issue of running poor tangents adding real distance, there is a sampling error phenomenon. The sampling error tends to add distance when you run long straight stretches that are common on road races; you run straight, but the sampling data has you zig-zagging. However, it can chop distance on corners, as you run a curve between samples so the data has you cutting a corner you didn't cut. I don't know whether that happened, or the race organizers didn't have miles marked accurately, or the trees interfered with GPS on that trail race; but since trail races aren't certified, that's kind of moot.
I have also seen mile markers placed incorrectly on road races. Of course, that doesn't explain a total route distance discrepancy for a certified race, just mile splits.1 -
After heading north of the border to see family for the weekend, I got in my first rest day in a week, then did a nice short interval workout session tonight. With the cooler weather and rest day, I had no trouble maintaining a 6-6:15 pace for 1/2 mile intervals w. 2 minutes rest between each, which felt pretty good. Forecast for next Sunday is looking pretty promising so I'm leaning towards heading out with the 3:10 pace group.

Since running 15 km for the first time on 27 March, I'm keeping my long run at or under 15 km for a month or so, to build a strong base for future development.2 -

Happy race day! May there be a tailwind! Good luck to everyone racing, getting in their LR, our just getting out there.
My husband claims to be hurt. He had a run- in with a folding chair. I'm sure he's sandbaggin'. Anyhow- hoping to have a feel good run today- be my last before surgery.
Looks like this race only provides water for the half. Fuel for the full at 16+ miles. Never saw a race with no fuel. But that kinda makes since. Little windy this morning, 15-16mph and 62°F. It's downtown, should be some wind block or be like running in a wind tunnel. Which reminds me, I should put on some face lotion or I'll get wind burnt.3 -
@Elise4270 Good luck!! I hope it's a fun one!1
