Back into the challenge for May after injuring my hip. I have been running the past 2 weeks using the couch to 10k program and it is going well so far. I am setting a conservative goal of 30 miles and a stretch goal of 40 miles. I have a 5k June 11th that I would like to PR in so I want to take it easy and stay uninjured that is my main goal. I am rediculously slow and get really nervous around big groups of people so as long as I don't panic I should be able to beat my 39 minute goal, just need to get there healthy and ready to run.

    5/1- 4.1 Miles

    Total: 4.1/100

Notes on today's run: Quick note, my training plan has my Long Runs on Sunday, but since I've been doing them on Saturdays all along, I swapped the two days. So, Today's (yesterday's) assignment was 30-45 minutes at E. I took the pace easier than yesterday, because I pushed it too hard on my Long Run, but still not super slow for me. Ended up doing 4.12 miles in 45:33 for a pace of 11:03/mile. Run felt good, but my legs and lungs did still feel yesterdays over-effort a little on the run. Tomorrow is a rest day, and I can say I don't mind, with my T-Th a 3 day stretch of hills and easy runs.

    @Ohhim Love the outfit!
Good luck to everyone racing today!

    5/1 - 2 mi 28 to go

Plan called for 20 minutes nonstop but my calves kept tightening up so needed 2 walk breaks to stretch them out. So should I redo the week or continue on with the plan since I didn't do what the plan called for? I finished week 5 of Couch to 10k (possibly). I am fine with either option since I have plenty of time and don't have a 10k scheduled yet.

    Planned races:
6/11 Run and Ride 5k at Cedar Point
Oct, Nov, and Dec 5 mile trail series
    Dec Santa Hussle Half Marathon

Hey guys! I'n new here to this running challenge. (And only started running 5 months ago.) I'm doing half marathon training for an event at the end of June and I think my planned runs for the month take me to around 80 miles plus 10 hiking. I am so tempted to make my goal 100, but I'm afraid it will only lead to injury. So....my goal is 80 miles, 90 if I decide to trail run instead of hike my one Sunday of the month.

Oh! I did 9 miles today (My long runs are on Sunday). No walking or stopping expect to take off my patella straps which were bugging me.

    9/90

Race completed: Zion half marathon 3/12/16
Upcoming race: Hella Hamburg half marathon 6/26/16

@WhatMeRunning that's only because youve already run more half marathons than I will this year......

Put in 5 miles today. It was a cold, wet day in Illinois. Hoping the sun comes out soon.

    5/75

Should think about looking for a race, but I'm kind of intimidated by the idea, and it seems all the races are early in the morning, and I can't do that. :/

Like @MNLittleFinn I am envious of the people who have lots of HM and M close to them. My closest community that host's multiple events is 2.5 hrs away. My community is quite small which results in limited Volunteers and Volunteer Burnout.

10 km Trail run today. Was initially supposed to be the Short run day < 8 km. We all felt so good at the top of the Trail that we extended out to do a Power line Trail on the way back to our Vehicles. The Power line company had mowed and brushed the line during the winter so it was a great run - No short willows whipping your legs - Ended up with 10 km.

    05/01 – 0.0 Km – 0.0 - 140 km
    05/01 – 10.0 Km – 1 0.0 - 130 km – YTD 524.8 km

@Ohhim - That's way cool that you could BQ while running in costume! Maybe I'll see you at Boston next year.

@kristinegift - It's pretty impressive to have a PR by 13.5 minutes on a day when your legs don't do what you want them to! Maybe Philly will be your race; I know someone who put in a BQ effort at Philly last year after missing a BQ twice earlier in the same year.

Ok. Got my BQ with 95 seconds in the bank (3:08:25). Full report later but took the first half easy then ran like hell. Yes the horns lit up.

    5/1 - 26.2 (Pittsburgh marathon 3:08:25)

    Total: 26
    Goal:180
    Remaining: 154
WOW!!! You mean we get to cheer you on next year in April. Ok, I'm seriously just taking that day off next year. LOVE that picture too. You crack me up.
