I missed it. Monday, May 9th, was the 1 year anniversary of my very first run (which happened to be a 5k). I wanted to get out for a short run to celebrate but completely forgot. Oh well.

5/1...Rest
5/2...4.25 @ 12:22 on the hilly lake trail
5/3...3.0 @ 13:00 (this is really 2.0 @ 12:00 and 1.0 walking) on the treadmill and strength training day
5/4...4.25 @ 11:51 (most of it was around 11:30, but mile 4 is a brutal hill) on the neighborhood rail trail
5/5...2 miles walking. I'm not counting it, but thought I'd throw it in here as my "active rest" day
5/6...5.0 @ 11:21 on the treadmill, since it's raining pairs of cats and dogs straight onto the ark...
5/7-8... Rest/life days
5/9...5.5 @ 12:40, nice and easy on the lake trail
5/10...2.0 @ 11:55 on the dreadmill, and strength training
5/11...7.5 @ 13:00 on the big lake trail and connector trail, nice and easy. My legs are tired! But no more running for at least a week.

I haven't been feeling well lately. I missed a few runs last week and then another one on Monday. I did some intervals yesterday and they were hard so I went for a recovery pace run today. I am also one of those people who find it common to have an average heart rate in the 170s with a max in the 180s for even easy runs. Today I had an average of 163 and max of 173. My pace was only about 15 seconds per mile slower than usual so I was surprised. I think I am going to try around the same pace for my 80 minute run on Friday and see what that gets me.

Today I did c25k week 6 day 2. I decided to skip the walking interval between the two 10-minute running intervals and thus wound up running 23 minutes without stopping, though toward the end I was kind of seriously reaching for it. I don't know how you guys can go 10 miles, LOL. I know, I know, give it time.

5/1 - Rest day after HM to finish April. Another ugly, rainy day.
5/2 - 4.25 miles.
5/3 - 3.1 miles. Quick 5k while my daughter had soccer practice.
5/4 - 4.53 miles. Cool, pleasant morning run. Mostly base pace, but last mile tempo.
5/5 - 4.95 miles on treadmill (Trek class).
5/6 - 4.47 miles. Base pace.
5/7 - 4.84 miles, Market to Market Relay Leg 4
- 4.01 miles, Market to Market Relay Leg 11
5/8 - Planned rest day
5/9 - Unplanned rest day
5/10 - 5.17 miles
5/11 - Misty, foggy 5.01 miles

@Orphia Wow, your fitness programm sounds awesome! Body weight exercises every day? That's so impressive, I already struggle to meet my good intentions of 2x strength training per week.

@RespectTheKitty 23 minutes without stopping, well done! Actually, I think going from not-running to running 5k is the hardest. Going from 5k to 10k gets a little easier, and when you run 15km, 20km don't seem like that much longer anymore... Plus, t.b.h., it's not like everyone has to end up running 10miles or more - when I first started running, I was happy with my 3x30 minutes per week for quite a few years. Until I let my guard down and the addiction snuck up on me ^^
By the way, I'm convinced cyclists are just as crazy as runners. I drove over to "my" mountain today, met the same two guys a couple of times during the run:
First time they were going up shortly after I had turned around to go back down - they did say "Good evening", but they looked like what they were doing was hard! They passed me 15 minutes later (at that point all of us going down) near the foot of the climb, and sounded a lot happier as they were zipping past - they shouted back to me in passing that now I could have had the road to myself ^^ After that, I was actually thinking about those cyclists as I ran on - there's a hill I have to climb when I ride my bike to work and I hate it - how crazy that they ride to the freaking mountains for fun?
I usually run a little extra hill detour before I got all the way down to the car park. So today, as I got near the top of the extra hill, I met those same guys on their bikes again! My first though was "how on earth did they end up back up here - there were already down, why would they do a loop that leads them up another hill?!". To be fair, judging by their stunned expressions, they might have thought the same of me. In the end we all just grinned as we passed each other. Still, I'm counting that as evidence that we runners aren't the only crazies out there. Not to mention that cycling friend I have who keeps hoarding bikes like other people hord running shoes...3 -

@skippygirlsmom Thanks for the boot suggestions. If you hadn't shared that Skip ran in her's, I wouldn't have kept trying to figure this thing out. An orthotic and following the instructions putting it on helped. I think the way it was initially put on me was "wrong" or loose or something.0
