Did another 34 mile easy ride with friends last night (finishing with some awesome post-ride wings), then got up early for my Friday morning hammerfest. Managed to hold on to the group for our long all-out segment until they went around me and dropped my *kitten* with a mile to go as my 28mph pull wasn't hard enough. Managed to average enough to get me into the strava segment top 10 anyhow (28.5mph) and even notched a top 25 segment for the return leg going the other way (no wind 27mph). On the plus side, those sorts of aspirational group rides are huge plusses for building up my aerobic capacity and wattage output, even though they can be a bit soul crushing at times

No ride this am, i needed to pick up items to large for the bike for work (already miss the endorphins from the ride) ....not bad since last night was a latish one out to see Brian Jonestown Massacre and they played for 3 hours
Plus side after a long while stalled on weight loss (though it has been redistributing as muscle ) I saw my low for the year today and am down over 25 pounds ....25 to go (though I'll accept a little less if it means more muscle less fat)

Just got in a nice easy ride this afternoon as the weather wasn't too ugly and traffic wasn't bad once I got out of my neighborhood. Might do a longer ride tomorrow. Roughly at 50% of my mileage goal by the mid-point of the month, so glad things have picked up this past week.

So, this was a first, but I actually went out for a bike ride today without the purpose of going anywhere, just for the sake of the ride!
The weather was too nice to stay inside today, but my running training plan said it was supposed to be a no-run day. Going for a bike ride seemed like a nice solution for that dilemma.
I had fun most of the way, I'm beginning to see why some people here go for all these long tours
Might just repeat this "ride around for fun" thing, but next time, I need better planning. Like making sure I don't accidentally end up on a mountain bike trail, and maybe buy myself one of those water bottle holders for the frame and a small bag for the handle bar, so that I don't need to bring a backpack.

Main goal for May is a 100 mile Audax in the New Forest (southern England) on May 8th.
Last big training ride before the event was today - easy week ahead to arrive at the event with fresh legs.
Today's ride was 73 miles @ 16.5mph, felt good and even had some welcome sunshine at last - April was cold!
That took me to over 7000 exercise calories for the week.
Audax done!
Weather turned hot and the strong wind was a PITA! Although it was a circular route the wind was on my back on the flat, sheltered parts and in my face on the climbs and open moorland sections with no shelter. Never cycled so much on the drops and my poor old neck is killing me now.
My neck is a bit damaged from repeatedly throwing myself into the scenery and Armco barriers in my misspent youth as a motorcycle racer.
100.6 miles @ 14.7mph in drop-dead gorgeous countryside.
213.7 miles so far for the month.
Four rides of varying lengths this week totalling 127 miles. Sunshine and warmer temperatures certainly make a difference!

Entered another Audax event at beginning of June (205km this time) so training hard.1 -
Did a nice easy 50 miler with a neighbor this afternoon. Off to the pool now to cool down. Nice to be a fair bit ahead of pace by the midway point of the month.

April wasn't a brilliant month for me in terms of exercise ... I had hoped to do one or two longer bicycle rides but sometimes life intervenes in the plans. April ended up being an incredibly busy month with a heavier-than-usual workload at work + assignments due at university + the final steps of my citizenship process. I wrote the citizenship exam and then my ceremony was on April 29 and I am now officially an Australian Citizen!
May should be a calmer month, although I will be wrapping up the uni course I'm in so there will be work to do for that. Nevertheless, I hope for more kilometres than last May.

We failed to make it to the trail on Saturday, but on Sunday I completed my longest ride to date. Very pleased with that accomplishment! The weather forecast for next Sunday looks fantastic, so we are going to try and hit 50 miles that day.

@ birdgirl - What a great ride, and first time miles!
My weekend riding didn't go as planned. I wanted about the same to get 50 miles. The only 50 that happened was the temp in mid afternoon with 26 mph winds. Frosted in 30's both nights.0 -

5/16 - 14 miles - Had a comic convention this weekend, so no riding this weekend. Minneapolis Bike Week kicks off today and I had to drive to the dentist before work and so couldn't bike to work, booo. I did get to bike over to a free bike light event and hand out bike lights to passers by.
