I have gallbladder issues too. I had my first gallstone attack at 19. Since most of the women in my family have had theirs removed in their 40s-60s, the doc said I'll probably have to get it removed eventually, but I can control it for a while with diet. Hopefully if I can control my diet and weight then I can wait until my 60s like my grandma instead of my 40s like my mom (I'm 31 right now).

Good luck to you! <3 I was told to not lose too quickly because losing quickly can precipitate a gallstone attack. I was told 1-2lbs a week is fine, but nothing over that :) I'm shooting for 1lb/week

Hi, everyone. I'm new to the community. I've been a member here for a few years, but since working with a dietitian, I haven't been coming here much. He thinks that I need daily accountability and suggested groups such as this online. I've lost 45 lbs., but it's taken me two years. I've NEVER lost weight this slowly before. There have been two times in my life that I have lost a huge amount of weight only to gain much of it back. I'm thankful that it's been 15 years since I've been 400 lbs., but I was 180 10 years ago after losing weight. I started losing again two years ago and I was 285 at the time. I would like to get to 180 again, but my first goal is to lose to 200 lbs so I can get my knees replaced. Right now the don't bend at all so I'm can't drive anymore and it's hard for me to get in just any vehicle so I only leave my home a few times a year for doctors' appointments. I really NEED this kind of help. Thank you all and to pjb for starting this. I'm a bit late.

    MY STARTING WEIGHT:
    5/9/16:

    WEIGHT LOSS FOR THE WEEK:
GOAL WEIGHT LOSS FOR TOTAL CHALLENGE:
    GOAL WEIGHT RANGE: 12 lbs
ULTIMATE WEIGHT LOSS GOAL: Healthy Range

All the best to you @flabflipper314! You can do this! I can't imagine how difficult it is when you have mobility issues with your knees, but it sounds like you ar under the doctors care and I do hope this challenge will inspire you to keep it going!

ENCOURAGING WORD... Stay the course! If you've fallen down, pick yourself back up--it's a brand new week and we get to have a do-over if we need one! When I was visiting my grand-daughter on my vacation awhile back we saw Cinderella (2015 Disney version)... And I came away with the simple message that could hold true for all of us! HAVE COURAGE AND BE KIND!

HAVE COURAGE this week to make it your best! No one is watching what you do, but you are here on this journey and we all have a common thread--we desire to be healthy and active! Losing weight is a grand start!

BE KIND to yourself and to others! I sometimes find that when I've made unhealthy choices it tends to reflect on how I treat others. Even though it may have been a rough few weeks, take some time to take care of you and treating others in good ways makes one feel better about who they themselves are.

Don't forget weigh in day tomorrow!

Hello @chatelaine this is just a thread at this time and not a group...maybe in the Fall if we keep it going. This is our fourth season doing this same challenge. It started last Fall 2015 and it seems to be a place where people want to stay connected with their daily challenges. I hope you enjoy and have great successes!

    ENCOURAGING WORD...

For those who want to pick up there metabolism here is a quote I read the other day. Hope it helps!

"Alcohol temporarily keeps your body from burning fat, explains integrative medicine specialist Pamela M. Peeke, MD, author of The Hunger Fix. The reason is that your body can't store calories from alcohol for later, the way it does with food calories. So when you drink, your metabolic system must stop what it's doing (like, say, burning off calories from your last meal) to get rid of the booze.Drinking presses 'pause' on your metabolism, shoves away the other calories, and says, 'Break me down first!'" Dr. Peeke explains. The result is that whatever you recently ate gets stored as fat."

Thank you. I do think that my previous weight loss, as well as my thyroid disease contributes to this. I am thankful that my gallbladder is not inflamed and I can put surgery aside for now.

Good Luck to you too! It sound like you are doing well so far!!
