    I majored in Biochemistry and am now in vet school so I would say it paid off.

    I'm an actuary, and I absolutely love my profession. If you like math and problem-solving, you should definitely check into it. I work in the health insurance industry, which is pretty exciting these days, as you can imagine!

    -BA in Biology/Pre-Med with mini-MS thesis on Psychoneuroimmunology
    -studied for a year for Ph.D. in Immunology/Microbiology (before discovering that working in a lab is similar to being in HELL)
    -MA in Criminal Justice concentrating on Forensic Microbiology

    And now I'm a cop. LOL!

    But all that kollidge makes me higher paid than a lot of higher ranking officers, so I don't care. I like what I what I do.

    It was communications, so yes, like every other Mass Comm major who is NOT a professional athlete, I had to go back and get another REAL degree when I was ready to get a REAL job....
    Second degree is in education

    My major is Radiography (X-ray).

    For your choice- you can't go wrong going into health care, even if it's in the administrative side of things, but I may be a bit bias ;)

    Started pre-med, wound up with my BS in psychology (emphasis on victimology) with a minor in child and family studies. Wish I'd stuck with the med because it turns out that, after a few years of working with victims, I totally burned out and don't ever want to do any sort of counseling again.

    Anthropology/archaeology would have been cool, too :-)

    Just getting registered for my first classes in 10 years. Going to get an AAS in Accounting cause I need to get a job before hubby retires from the military.

    I'm currently an English major and I'm planning on minoring in either Business or Communications. I have NO IDEA what I'm going to do and it really sucks to be shy and not a "go-getter." :(

    Also, I really wish my school didn't separate English Literature and Writing, not to mention making it impossible to major in one and minor in the other. And I wish I had come in Freshman year minoring in Biology like I was thinking of doing; it would be nice to have knowledge in a specific field so I could be a technical writer or something.

    I was a Mathematics major, with an education interest. I graduated with a BA and a teaching certificate.

    I got my Associates in Dental Hygiene, and a BA in Secondary Education, I might get my masters in Administration so that I can take my boss's job!

    Was going to school for my BFA then 30 credits away decided I didn't want it, I went back to school this past year and now I'm 15 credits from a BS in Investitgations. Maybe I'll minor in art.

    After the BS I'd like to get a Masters and probably a Bachelors at least in psychology. I figure I might as well use the G. . bill since I have it.

    BS in Industrial Distribution (College of Engineering) from Texas A &M
    I have been using my degree since I graduated by specifying chemical injection pumps.

    In August I am going back to the Aveda institute for an esthiology license (makeup artist, facials, body wraps, etc)
    It's a complete 180 from what I do now....Looking for a change!

    Started my bachelors in nursingin 1996, ended up getting my LVN in 2000and my associate RN degree in 2010. And I love my job. Now time to go back to get that BSN I started out on so long ago!

    I have two BA's: Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education/Special Education.

    I used to teach, but now I stay home with my two little ones. It has been useful.

    I have an associates in Early Childhood Education and am getting a BS in Psychology and a BSEd in Early Childhood Education (with teaching certificate). I am going to be starting grad school for Educational Diagnostics (Early Intervention Specialist). I have used my current degree and training from my in progress degrees very much. I have worked as a preschool teacher, parent educator, and will be starting a new job for an autism support center next week.

    Yes, it's a major of its own at my school. I can't tell you how many times people have said "oh, so..you're Biology?" when I say genetics, but it's real!

    I have a BA in English (with minors in Computer Science and Women's & Gender Studies), am one class short of a B.SC. in Anatomy & Cell Biology (but decided not to finish because of an humongous change in curriculum just before I graduated that made pretty much everything I'd taken to that point useless *meh*), and have an MA in English. I'm also about 1/4 of the way through a second MA in Heritage Resource Management, and have deferred doing a PhD in English until the youngest is in elementary school full time(which will be three years from now).

    Surprisingly, the only thing I don't use on a daily basis in my job is the Anatomy & Cell Biology. I work at an applied science and technology institute where I teach communications (including interpersonal communication, conflict resolution, and assertiveness training), customer service (primarily for the trades), and technical writing.

    Originally I had wanted to do a Commercial Pilot/Aviation Management Program through college but couldn't afford it even after having been accepted; a few years ago there were fewer government-funded aviation programs around than there are now so it was financially impossible at the time. So, I did the next best thing: Tourism and Travel.

    It definitely did not satisfy my love and passion for aviation, but it was as closely-related as I could get at the time. But, I did pursue my love and now hold a Private Pilot's license :-)

    ...and now I am working at a Flight College as the Dispatcher/Customer Service Supervisor.

    If I did it again, I'd go back to go to University to become a Nutritionist... that would be awesome!

    I did political science as my undergrad. Graduated last year, now I am doing a masters in Political Science- European Politics and Policy... I really don't plan to do full politics later on as I want/ always have wanted to be a lawyer. After this MA is done I plan to pursue law. The kind of law I want to do is Entertainment/sports law.

    I have a degree in Inter-Related Special Education. I taught for 7 years in a private school for kids with learning disabilities. So I'd say my degree was useful, especially since you really can't teach without one. However, I gained more useful knowledge about teaching from being a tutor at a learning camp for LD kids during the summers than in many of my classes.

    I'm a stay at home mom now, but I hear hardly any schools around here are hiring right now because of budget issues.

    Psychology and Masters in School Counseling. I got a job as a school counselor for the first time in 2007 but because of budget cuts laid off. Now I am a foster agency social worker. Love this more than School Counseling.

    I am in a dental hygiene program... only takes two years once you get in and you make a pretty good living... I can make between 25-40 an hour.

    Just starting on my bachelors this fall, I'm going into social work to get my counselor certifications. I eventually want to become a nutritionist with physical therapy mixed in so I can someday become a life coach.

    I just finished my associate of arts... next month I'm starting my bach in visual communications and I'm thinking about a minor in small business or business mgmnt.... I would like to study finance... I'm thinking if the computer imaging thing doesn't work, I'd like to do book keeping and finance. I think finance would be a good thing considering the economy... I don't know how well my Bach degree will work out because not many people can afford to pay to build a website or imaging... people nowadays are teaching themselves how to do that stuff

    What is/was your college major?

    Graduated from James Madison University with a degree in Integrated Science and Technology.

    If you have graduated, do you find your major useful or do you wish you got it in something else?

    My major is BEYOND useful. I do not regret it one bit. It has helped me get where I am today and I get "exceeds expectations" on my performance reviews. It was a very broad major that covered lots of subjects. Breadth not depth. It's really hard to explain when you are applying to jobs though but I was fortunate enough to get an internship which then turned into a full time job offer with one of the top defense contractors. My current position is Program Planner which means that I make and maintain the schedule in Microsoft Project but I am about to move into a Junior Program Manager role because one of the program manager's was so impressed with my work. I'm only two years out of college so it's a huge move for me. One of the things that helped me was getting a professional certificate prior to graduating from college (I got my certified associates in Project Management).

    What do you guys think is the best college major to get a job out of college?

    FINANCE - I mean ultimately it depends on where you live, what you're interested in etc. Coming from the Washington, D.C. area, defense contracting is huge. I know that at my work they are constantly looking for good Business Analysts (which equates to finance majors). I'd say find a job that you interested in and then choose the degree that is needed to land that job.

    *EDIT* - Just noticed you are from the Denver, CO area. I know that my company has a huge site out there in Aurora that is currently hiring like crazy to support a really large contract . I actually went out to the Aurora site to provide some training to the program planner's at that location about a month ago. Beautiful area!

    I majored in communications with a minor in English with the intent of going to law school. I took two years between undergrad and law school and had no problems finding a professional job right away. Reading, writing, analyzing, and speaking are an important part of any career, so if you don't have a specific career in mind, I would recommend majoring in communication. I'm currently graduated from law school, studying for the bar exam, with a job lined up for when I'm done.

    All of my friends that graduated with communications majors could not find a job for the life of them. Some of them are still working in retail (after two years). I think a better choice is a general Business degree than communications if you don't know what you want to do, just my opinion.
