Had some downtime during a fishing trip this weekend, so borrowed a ladies beach cruiser and did 13 miles around the island this morning. Definitely miss my usual bike, but nice to explore the area. Plan to knock out my last miles tomorrow.

So I rode my bike 204 miles today....yes 204.4 miles to be exact. It took 10 hours and 5 minutes. Longest ride ever. Puts me at 85 hours for May (with 2 days to go)
Burned 7000 calories, going to get to eat well tomorrow too.2 -
Main goal for May is a 100 mile Audax in the New Forest (southern England) on May 8th.
Last big training ride before the event was today - easy week ahead to arrive at the event with fresh legs.
Today's ride was 73 miles @ 16.5mph, felt good and even had some welcome sunshine at last - April was cold!
That took me to over 7000 exercise calories for the week.
Audax done!
Weather turned hot and the strong wind was a PITA! Although it was a circular route the wind was on my back on the flat, sheltered parts and in my face on the climbs and open moorland sections with no shelter. Never cycled so much on the drops and my poor old neck is killing me now.
My neck is a bit damaged from repeatedly throwing myself into the scenery and Armco barriers in my misspent youth as a motorcycle racer.
100.6 miles @ 14.7mph in drop-dead gorgeous countryside.
213.7 miles so far for the month.
Four rides of varying lengths this week totalling 127 miles. Sunshine and warmer temperatures certainly make a difference!
340 miles for month so far.
Entered another Audax event at beginning of June (205km this time) so training hard.
Had to take what weight lifters would call a deload as legs got really fatigued. So an easy 5 days, lots of recovery walking, couple of one hour gentle spins in the gym to pump some blood through my legs, and no weight training for my legs at all (training like Johnny Bravo!).
Worked wonders and I came back this weekend feeling really strong.
Nice fairly fast 56 miles on Saturday with some climbs and Sunday was mostly hill training for 41 miles including 3 laps of the iconic Zig Zag Road up Box Hill in Surrey (part of the 2012 Olympic course).
107 miles for the week and 447 for the month so far.
End of the month for me as I've cycled three consecutive days over the long Bank Holiday weekend.
Found some lovely new roads to go back and explore but struggling a bit to balance mileage and recovery. Now going to have an easy week ahead of my Audax event next Sunday, fingers crossed for kind weather.

End of the week update....
Had a good 63 mile ride Friday with a friend. Started as a social ride but we upped the pace for the last 20 something miles home and I ended up with a new 40k PB of 1hr 12mins 35secs at an average speed of 20.54mph

April wasn't a brilliant month for me in terms of exercise ... I had hoped to do one or two longer bicycle rides but sometimes life intervenes in the plans. April ended up being an incredibly busy month with a heavier-than-usual workload at work + assignments due at university + the final steps of my citizenship process. I wrote the citizenship exam and then my ceremony was on April 29 and I am now officially an Australian Citizen!
May should be a calmer month, although I will be wrapping up the uni course I'm in so there will be work to do for that. Nevertheless, I hope for more kilometres than last May.

May is the last month of Semester 1 of University here = big assignment due. So, a lot of my time was spent doing that.
May is also late autumn = cool, rainy
And in early May we spent a weekend in Sydney for a cycling conference ... without our bicycles!!
So with all that in mind ...

I suppose one highlight is that I exercised an hour more this May than last May. Not sure how I managed that ... must be all those stairs. And speaking of which, 550 flights of stairs is a total of 11,000 stairs.

Ended up biking to/from Tampa today to meet friends for dinner as the route from my neighborhood (Clearwater Beach) was about 70% on dedicated bike trails/paths which made it relatively safe after dark (with all of my heavy-duty lights). Glad to knock out my goal, even though it came down to the final evening of the month.
