Hope you all had a good long-weekend (it was a long weekend here in the UK too)!

My PoTS specialist phoned me last week and increased my dose of steroids again for the second time in 3 months. Despite still sticking to my calorie goal, I've GAINED 3lbs over the weekend! I know it's most likely water weight and I've measured myself with a tape to reassure myself (2 inches off my waist in the last 2 & 1/2 weeks!),but I can't help feeling really deflated by the number on the scale... Know what I mean?!

you bet I know!! It is so frustrating, they tell us to loose weight and fill us up with steroid shots! A vicious cycle!! And I drink 8 to 10 cups of water a day and still the numbers don't move or go up!! The measure tape is now my best friend!! Ignoring my scale for a bit LOL :blush:1opiue6fda1u.jpg

Hi all! I am a 40 year old female with fibromyalgia, hyperextension of the joints, chronic lower back pain, essential tremors, carpal tunnel in both wrists, cubital tunnel syndrome in my elbows, perimenopause and ADD.
I have to teenage sons and a toddler. I work part time in a kitchen where I'm the cook.
I have lost 50 lbs to date out of an approximate 105-110. Things have slowed down considerably for me, and I totally understand about that 'lying scale *kitten'!!
Every time I have a flareup or over exert myself, also twice a month like clickeork , my weight goes up by 5-7 lbs even though I'm practically starving myself according to some people on this forum by staying under or at 800 calories. Its the ONLY way I lose.
I feel ALL your pains and give each and every one of you a warm gentle hug!
    Till later.

I'm amazed you manage to work with all that going on with your health, I applaud you! I miss working SO much.

I also stay around 800 calories a day, I'm following the BSD by Dr Michael Mosely...let's see how long it takes for this thread to get locked now we've said this!

I have been - not DIS-abled, but certainly, DIFFERENTLY-abled, since around 2007, following a bicycling accident that busted up my lower spine and left me with 6 ruptured discs in my lumbar spine - after 4 (failed) back surgeries, I am 2-1/2 inches shorter and 40 lbs heavier than I was when I was an incredibly active triathlete with at least 10 marathon finishes (I've lost track), and more than 40 triathlon finishes under my belt, including 8 half-Ironmans and one full Ironman. I am now hard pressed to do anything now but walk - running, swimming and cycling are definitely out (not that I'd ever share the road again with automobiles, after my experience) - and I get through the day on a regimen of time-released morphine, plus hydrocodone for "breakthrough" pain. That said, I consider myself incredibly lucky... the same accident that brought me to this state could very easily have killed me instead. OK, it's much harder to lose weight when you're relying on diet alone, with minimal exercise, but it IS doable, even at my advanced years (not THAT advanced, but I'll never see 50 again, and 60 is too close for comfort) and my now tortoise-slow metabolism... I'm down almost 15 lbs in the past 2 months, with about 40 to go... I figure it will take me another 9-10 months, which isn't too much fun, but this IS a lifestyle change, not just a fad.

No applause necessary ;) , I do what I have to for my family, you know?
I really wish people would understand how hard it is for some people to lose the weight the traditional way either because of sloooow metabolism or lack of ability to exercise.
I got slammed on a different website just for saying how many calories I consume a day.
Anyways, this thread is great, makes me feel I'm not alone and there's hope for us all.
    Xxx
Johnmcglynn01, I'm sorry to hear about your accident and so glad that you have found a way to cope with all the disappointments. You sound very positive! WTG.

I'm so glad you all are here and we can find comfort in the familiar, strength in numbers, terrific support and solace in knowing we are not the only ones going through all of this. Forced Down day today and probably through the next 3 days. It is ok. I am just painfully exhausted and will do it all over again, as this is just a routine I have to live with  Gentle Hugs to everyone! CJ

I have fibromyalgia and arthritis and chronic headaches that slows me down. I also am on medication for my thyroid so it is harder to lose. I am on isagenix and that helps some.

Hi my name is Lou, I have osteoarthritis in both knees and now both hips and sacroiliac joints are showing signs of degeneration. I am unable to take NSAID's due to them messing up my liver and kidney function. Cocodamol helps sometimes. I get used to living with the pain but it does get me down at times. I can also be my on worst enemy as I don't always take pain relief as often as I should and I am not always able to rest when in pain.
I have always been overweight ever since I can remember, over the last 9yrs I have lost and put on weight admittedly not put on as much as I have lost. I have always had trouble sticking to diets or healthy eating plans but I am determined to change. I am now 26lbs lighter than my heaviest weight and have another 29lbs to go to get to my next target weight.
I have been reading through the posts here and you guys are an inspiration.
    Good luck to you all

I'm asthmatic and was recently diagnosed with sarcoidosis in my lungs. Don't consider myself disabled and use it as a reason to push beyond my limits. I'm always looking for friends...add me if you want.

I am on day 12 of my journey. I have about 140lbs to lose. I post my struggles on my profile. Add me.

I'm a single mom and veteran who is socially isolated much of the time. I could really use as many friends as I can get.

Hi, I have fibromyalgia and degenerative disc disease. My weight has ballooned in the past 2 years, which was when I had my last surgery on my spine. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia last year, but I am again going through lots of tests following 3 bouts of pneumonia since January! My strength is at an all time low and I'm feeling pretty down, so I'm trying to take back a bit of control with my diet and weight. Yesterday was my first weigh in and I'd lost 5lb! Which I'm pleased about.

If anyone would like to add me then please do. I need lots of motivation and support from people who understand x

Hi Indy, Welcome to the group! We all here are differently-abled or disabled. We all have something, as you have read in prior posts and we are here for each other. Sorry for the delay in responding, as I have been on my tablet and not my pc for the week. I am also asthmatic and have been since a baby. I am not familiar with sarcoidosis of the lung, but how are the treatments? I looked it up, is it due to scaring on the lungs? Thanks for joining us! CJ
