Do you log the small nibbles you take in your MFP diary?

Okay so I don't usually nibble during the day but I have slipt a few times this week so I was wondering if everyone logs their nibbles too? Personally, I do find it a bit irrational to log them but I was wondering about what others think?

What do you mean by nibbles?
If there are sweets or crisps around and you eat a handful through the day, you should try to log it as it can add up quickly. If you mean testing your sauce for dinner or licking the spoon after baking, it's probably not necessary.
I don't tend to nibble though, I either eat a portion of something or none of it so you might be better taking an answer from a nibbler!!!!3 -
Yes under snacks. It's not irrational. It's part of the Calories in being less than than calories out.
And it helps you choose good nibbles.

Yep. I try to over estimate and log. I have logged exactly 1 m&m and 1 almond before.15

Nothing irrational about it; little tastes add up. I sampled a few kinds of snacks the other day. All I took was one of each type; I'm talking a 3 gram serving (one cinnamon chickpea) when a serving size is 28 grams. Most people would not take one chickpea, they would take 3 or 4 for a "taste". I weighed and logged all of it and it came out to a total of 80 calories. So "nibbles" can easily be 100+ calories for most people. Even if you don't log it, your body knows what it ate. If people don't log them, they'll most likely make a post on these forums within a few weeks titled "Doing everything right but I'm not losing weight".17

I've never been one to nibble. I do chomp, gnaw and quibble now and then.5

I do. It also helps me because I will avoid nibbling on unhealthy food because I don't even want to bother logging it.1

If you're not logging everything you put in your mouth, your results will vary. Your body will show the nibbles, so should your diary.10

I log everything that goes in my mouth except vitamins/medication including water. If you don't hold yourself accountable it's too easy to continue to "cheat".3

I have a toddler so my snack section is often filled with half an egg or a quarter of a piece of toast with peanut butter, 2 raspberries...whatever he doesn't finish. It really does add up, that stuff could lose my whole deficit if I'm not careful.5

Nibbles still have calories!
We're potty training one of my kids right now and rewarding him with peanut M&Ms. I often have one as well, and at 12-ish calories each 3, 4, 5, 10 insignificant little M&Ms over the course of the day can add up. They all get logged!4 -
I do try to log everything, yeah. Even if it's just a "quick add" of what I think is a fair amount of calories. I won't make myself insane searching the data base for a bite or two of food. I throw a few calories onto my diary and move along....7

I don't log nibbles. Not doing so never interfered with my weight loss and hasn't prevented me from successfully maintaining that loss for almost two years. That said, my nibbles are infrequent and if I had had a problem losing I would have either eliminated the nibbles or logged them.3

Had an ice cream sundae two evenings ago: 2 TBS ice cream, 1/2 tsp chocolate syrup, and 1 tsp whipped cream, topped with a crunched-up pecan-half, in the appropriate-sized teensy bowl. I logged it.5

If it has 1 or more calories, I log it. I don't really understand people who don't log everything. Your body knows what went in. Plus, you have incomplete, inaccurate data.
If I wanted guess work as to what I'm eating and calories I'm ingesting, I wouldn't be on MFP at all.
But then I'm a numbers geek too.4 -

It depends. I had one cherry today as a nibble and didnt log it, because its like max 5 calories and therefore not worth logging. Anything with 50+ calories i log0

Ya, when I'm cooking I'll pad the serving to account for the tastings. Other than that, I generally weigh and log everything. Exceptions are very low calorie foods like mustard and small amounts of herbs.1 -

I do. Although often, I do things like tasting things I'm cooking, in which case I just figure the calories will be accounted for since I'm the only one eating the final product anyway.
I sometimes snack on things like cereal after dinner, but there, I just weigh out a portion of cereal that I pre-logged and then I can nibble on that portion as fast or as slowly as I want over the evening.1 -

Yes, I measure and log everything, or if I can't measure it, I estimate high. As you lose weight, your body needs fewer calories just to carry out basic metabolic functions, which makes it even more important to measure and log carefully in order to maintain a caloric deficit.2

Yes. Sometimes I bundle though. Example, I find that one small date will substitute for a craving for sweets. So usually if it is just one date I don't log right there and then, I do a calorie add at some point. But if I eat a whole serving of dates then I do a full log entry. Usually though that nibble happens only once or twice per day, so I'm exposed by ~50 calories if I forget to log. And since I'm usually a little under anyway that means its a wash. Also, if I start to get sloppy then I get pickier about logging until I'm back on track.0
