I'm laughing at this because it sounds funny to make peace with a weight loss goal by deciding it's no longer achievable. The truth is, you can do whatever you set your mind to. I'm 27 years old. I was 165lbs at 18 years old. I stayed around 125 in college, and I have managed to keep my weight below 130 since then (I reached 142 during a pregnancy). My current weight loss goal is 119lbs in order to become a better runner (my goal is to qualify for the Boston marathon during my race in September this year. Personally, I prefer to look at body fat percentage rather than weight because it's easier for you to determine a healthy weight for your unique body.
Perspective is fun, but not entirely useful. Instead, do this:
Determine your ideal body fat percentage using this table:
Optimal Racing Body Fat Percentage (add 5% if you are non-athletic)
Then, determine your ideal weight:
Example: 38-year-old female who currently weighs 140 pounds and has 22 percent body fat and who sets an initial goal of getting down to 17 percent body fat (the upper limit of her ideal range) through improved training and diet.- Step 1: Calculate current body fat mass. Body fat mass = current weight x current body fat percentage expressed in decimal form. In this example: 140 lbs x 0.22 = 30.8 lbs.
- Step 2: Calculate current lean body mass. Lean body mass = current weight – fat mass. In this example: 140 lbs – 30.8 lbs = 109.2 lbs.
- Step 3: Calculate goal weight. Goal weight = current lean body mass ÷ goal lean body mass percentage. (Note: goal lean body mass percentage is 1.0 – your goal body fat percentage expressed in decimal form.) In this example: 109.2 lbs ÷ 0.83 = 131.5 lbs.

Here's mine:
Current weight = 127.7
Body fat mass = 28.5
Lean body mass = 99.2
Lean body mass percentage = .84
Goal race weight = 118.1
Goal body fat percentage = .16
I'm giving myself a 1-lb cushion, also because I like having at least an A cup bust size. I love the way I look and feel at 122, but since I'm training to qualify for a race, then I'm going to shred a little bit more. After the race, I plan to maintain at 122lbs.
P.S.: @KatsMeow12 I'm on the Michael Mosley's 5:2 intermittent fasting schedule. It's the only concession I'm willing to make as I already run so much. Very doable after the first day. Why don't you give it a try?!4 -

Hi! Im Brittany. I am @ 5'2 and started @199 lbs. Im currently stuck @ 173-175. I have a goal to hit of 150, and then if I feel the need to, maybe 130-140.1

Now I'm not sure what my goal weight is. I started around 190 after delivering my 4th, almost a year ago. I'm now 35. I hit my pre baby weight (137), then my college weight (135). I'm now 129.5. I have never weighed in the 120s since...5th grade?
So who knows--but I am proving that "xyz weight will never happen again" wrong (for me, at least!).
129.5 in the latest pic, about 143 in the before pic. So I feel healthy and strong, but still have some fat I'd like to lose.

I love this! I feel like those disclaimers like "I haven't weighed xxx since y" come from a place of self-doubt and it really is a self-fulfilling prophecy. I am 108 pounds and you know what? I haven't weighed that since I was 7. When I was 8, I was already 120 pounds due to my family's negligence about a proper diet. From middle school through high school, I was between 120 and 190. College I was between 111 and 140 once I was in control of my own diet. There is no rule the body has that whatever you weighed in high school or college you can never weigh it again.9 -
I am 5ft 3in. Started at 223lbs now 171 lbs and my goal is 147 lbs.2

I'm 5'3" and 142 lbs, aiming for 120-125. But I'll see when I get there if I should adjust.1

I started at 234lbs and my (first) goal is 170lbs. That will put me in the same size clothes (roughly) as women who weigh 145lbs (or so), which is a good goal for me to start with. I have an extremely high skeletal muscle mass % (35.6%) making me much heavier than someone with a lower muscle mass %, despite being the same physical size.1

Do any of you hit certain weight levels and have a hard time getting past them? For me it's HARD to get past 112, and then past 109. My math works out to lose the weight but the measurements and lbs don't budge. Any insights or experience in this phenomena?1

My goal is 125, although my small frame could go for lower. I'm 51, started at 181, and now at 139. I'm 5'3.5"0

The lower your weight the harder it is to achieve a deficit. When I first started losing, my weight came off like clockwork from 139 to 121, after that it slowed a bit. Once I hit 115, I let myself take a diet break from Thanksgiving through Christmas because, well, food. When I restarted in January at 115, I hit 110 by February. After that I mini-bulked up to 114.5 and then it took from May until mid-July to hit 108. I will admit that my food scale was my best friend for weight loss.1 -
I am 5'3 and a half. My goal is to be around 130-125 lbs. I have lost 31 lbs so far. I am hoping my bust size will go down 1 cup size and an inch in band size. Most of the excess fat is in my thighs, hips, and stomach. I want to get rid of that. My arms aren't too bad but they lost definition.3

Frame size matters when figuring out your goal weight. I am 5'4. I started at 281lbs March 2015; I now weigh about 219lbs. 62lbs down! I set my weight goal at 145lbs, but I had a doctor's visit last week and he said I should weigh 155lbs. According to some weight loss sites, 145lbs should put me in a healthy BMI range, but my doctor's chart is clearly 10lbs different. I have not always been fat so I remember that due to my large frame I do look slim at 155lbs and really skinny at 135lbs. Not all ideal weight charts agree but most show a weight range for each height, and I think one's frame size (small, medium or large) has a lot to do with whether one will look healthy at a certain weight. According to some charts I could weigh as little as 108, but I would look like a skeleton!2

5'3...my ultimate goal has always been to be around 125-130. I currently sit at 162 so I've about 35 lbs to lose!3

I'm 5'4" and am aiming for around 126 pounds (which is 9 stone in the UK) but I'll also be going by how I look too, so will re-evaluate then.
Giggling a bit because I have always been overweight or obese my entire adult life and writing the above sentence about my goals and re-evaluating ... well it really does feel like I'm kidding myself. It feels like I'm saying, oh yes, when I win the Nobel peace prize, I'll then do blah blah blah. >.<6 -
I'm 5'3.5'' I never been obese, but my highest was 145lbs and my lowest was 105lbs, I now weight 125lbs (idk what my BF%) but my goal is to lose some fat and 115lbs (or higher maybe)0

185 trying for 145, I'm 50 so it's not gonna be easy, but I refuse to believe it's impossible. I've battled bad feet bad sinuses breast reduction & family therapy, getting fit can only be a positive outcome, right?5

When I was previously very fit (before my youngest), I looked trim and healthy in the 140's. I got down in the 130's and looked athletic, but as I tried to get lower, I started looking less healthy. I have a medium frame with a decent amount of natural muscle. In fact, most people assumed that I weighed 10-15 lbs less than I actually did.
Goal is 145 lbs at this time. (I'm 210 and just turned 40.) After that the scale won't matter. I want to get back to the athletic look whether it's in the 130's or 140's.3 -
I'm 5'4" & 21 yrs, currently at 147 after gaining 20 pounds due to medication changes in the past year, so my first goal is to get back to the mid/high 120s where I was a year or two ago, and then hopefully stabilize in the low 120s!0

I'm 34 & 5'3 ish, and I'm anywhere between 133-138 depending on the day. I want to get back to 118 ish. It all seems to be residing in my butt and thighs, and it seems absolutely impossible to loose it from there! And so hard to see results which gets frustrating and generally causes me to say screw this0

I'm 27 and 5'3". I've been 203 pounds, 147 pounds and everywhere inbetween. I'm up to 198 right now and I would say that I feel the best being 150 to 165.0

Yes, and for me it's MUCH higher than your sticking point. I literally struggle getting past 135. The first time I tried to go from 133 into the 120s, it was painful. There is just less room for error when you get small. Sometimes the deficit causes you to be a little less active if you're tired, which effects your TDEE, and makes your deficit not as large.
For me, I'm relatively lean and have a decent amount of muscle and not TOO much fat...so if I'm trying to lose that bit of fat here or there, it's like pulling teeth. Especially when I'm squatting 3x per week, deadlifting twice and bench pressing 3x.0 -
You ladies are all so impressive! I'm so out of shape and finding it hard to get motivated to change my eating habits long term and work out regularly. I'm 5'3" and currently at 172. Goal is 140.0

Started at 317. my first goal to hit 200. then my goal is 16o. I may lose more, depends on how I feel and look.2

I got stuck twice at 123.6. I can't explain it. I wish I could get stuck when my weight is on the rise!2
