Anyone else just too small

So you're just trying to put on some weight? Meaning not for bulking or cutting or whatever?
I'm underweight and just kinda tired of being skin and bones. Trying to find ppl doing/feeling the same.
I'm 23, woman, chronically under 100lbs at 5'3". Add me!

Well i am not small but if you need help with getting adequate calories i would recommend the below thread:

    http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10326769/are-you-a-hard-gainer-please-read/p1

And if you want to improve your body a bit and mititgate some fat, then i would recommend one of the following structured programs

    http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10332083/which-lifting-program-is-the-best-for-you#latest

Good luck and if you have goals outside of just gaining we can help you.

I have never been over 90 lbs. I got sick last year, got down to 75 and was stable for a while. The last couple months, I've gotten down to 70!
My doctor just put in request for feeding tube at night, cuz I just can't seem to eat enough during the day. .. if I try to eat to much at one time, I get nauseated :/

Wow. I'm also 5'0 and cannot imagine being under 200, let alone 100. Some days I wish, but I just can't imagine ever being so small!

Have you tried drinking some calories and healthy fats like avocado, nuts, full fat cheeses? If you check out the thread i link, there are some additional suggestions that can help you.

No, of course not... it never occurred to me to eat high calorie or fattening stuff to gain weight ;)
I drink about 3 or 4 glasses of whole milk every day, I put sour cream and/or cheddar cheese on anything it can go on, cottage cheese with my fruit, hummus with my vegetables, cook with oil and butter, etc, etc, etc... and I drink one or two cartons of high-calorie Boost every day.
I admit that I don't like soda pop, so maybe that's my problem LOL I heard that drinking 1 can a day can make you gain 10 lbs in a year. I drink soda maybe once a week or so

Lol.. sadly, there is a ton of people to who put a lot of restrictions on their diet thinking that the specific types of food make them gain more fat.

Do you know how many calories you eat? And how much you exercise?

I eat average 1800 daily, but goal is 2000. Like I said, my tummy gets upset if I put much more than a larger snack or small meal in. I sleep 10+ hours a night, and rather lazy during the day. My problem partly (other than microscopic stomach) is heart failure. My cardiologist says my heart uses 2 to 3 as much energy just to keep me functioning than normal people.
But I'm going to the GI clinic on Tuesday to see what we can do about getting me more calories.

Wow I can't imagine being 75lbs. That must've been hard. And a feeding tube? Did you agree to that? Sorry to hear.

Actually, I asked for it in January. I got told to just try to eat more often. Got given Reglan, which didn't help the nausea. Now that I'm 71 lbs (last Tuesday), they are more seriously taking my request.

I'm almost 21 and I've never gained more than 117 up until now I'm 127. You really just have to take in more calories than you burn each day this app has helped me a lot, I started at 109.

Patience. It takes a lot of patience. I'm 5'4 and finally got over 100 (putting on toned muscle though because I feel bleh if it's just weight). You can get there.

@rebel_26 It's her heart failure. The heart is overworking which takes an incredible amount of calories. Her cardiologist would have checked her thyroid out long ago. She has a special medical situation that is drastically affecting her calories out. @VividDawn forgive me for answering for you. And good luck!

My goal is 115. I'm currently 5'2" and at 100lbs and have increased daily calories to 2400-2600 but haven't gained much yet. I did, but then I lost some. I'm also doing ensure plus. How frequently are you drinking them?

Apetamin doesn't actually slow your metabolism. Also, if you are struggling to in enough calories, check out the links I posted above. There are plenty of strategies and foods/drinks that will help you reach your calorie goal.

I drink ensure plus once or twice a day.

Apetamin liquid is an antihistamine and vitamin supplement which some people find to be helpful in stimulating the appetite. It doesn't slow metabolism. It is somewhat pricey. The generic cyproheptadine in tablet form and a multivitamin taken together is much less expensive, if people find it to be helpful.
  • Hi I'm 28, 5"7 and weigh 112. I've always been very slim my entire life and always been desperate to gain more weight. I have IBS and dairy intolerance which makes eating large meals hard! I'm also a Nursery Teacher so very active throughout the day. I'm trying to increase my calories, I have to have 2500 which I'm finding hard! Does anyone know any high calorie healthy snacks or drinks that I could have to try and gain more calories?! I'm hoping to get a appointment with a trainer at my gym next week to find out how to build muscle...I just find gyms so intimidating!!! To those of you who have tried apetamin, did it make you sleepy? Thanks :)

If you gradually up your calories, eventually you will get used to it. I think back to when I was cutting at 1600 and wondering how I was going to eat at maintenance with the changes in what I eat. But i don't eat based on appetite, at least not initially. I wasn't hungry when I added in a nighttime cereal snack but now I look forward to it. Baby steps.

Look at my first post. The one link will help the food part and the 2nd link will give you a structured lifting program.

Thyroid got checked every 6 months while I was taking Amiodarone... great for heart, but very bad for thyroid, lungs, liver, eyes, etc. It did start tanking my thyroid, so they took me off it and put me on Metoprolol...not quite as good for my arrythmias, but doesn't wreck everything else.

SO! I got a feeding tube put in my stomach last Friday...still very sore. Going to continue 1800+ eating solids during the day, then another 1000 pumped in the tube at night, and hopefully that will help me gain weight (last Thursday I was already down to 71 lbs! I;m back up to 72.6 again today YAY)

May I join in? I'm 5'2" and about 90lbs, my dream is to be about 115 lbs strong, fit, tight, toned, but with a nice fat layer that keeps me warm and not so angular. I swear I lose a pound if I blink, but it takes me a month of a million calories per day to put on a pound. I do a fair amount of mountain biking, running, and bodyweight exercises. Have a lot of food restrictions I have to work around.

Between the bold and the food restrictions, is probably why it's difficult for you to get to a good amount of calories to gain. You might have to look into some high calorie sources of food to help get your calories up on a consistent basis; this can include drinking a bunch of them.

Yes ma'am! My go to is triscuits and hummus, that for me will stop weight loss - it's a small package but calorific so it can be eaten in addition to my regular meals, not instead of them. High calorie, nutritious, tasty. Eat nuts with breakfast, too. Don't worry too much about gaining, just make sure you aren't slipping down thinner.
