Honestly, I don't have an inspirational photo. I was a heavy child, an overweight tween and an obese teenager. I've never been a healthy weight.

Yesterday's challenge, I drank close to what I needed to drink, maybe a couple of glasses short.

Next five days are CRAZY for me, with my brother visiting from Japan, some family get togethers and dinners plus a day trip to Yellowstone (WOOT, HIKING!) on top of starting work Tuesday.... I'll check in when I can and work to keep up, but if you lose sight of me for a few days, life took over (momentarily!)

Let me say, there is NOTHING wrong with at home workouts! I only work out at home and I've slowly built up videos and weights, kettlebells and other equipment when I can. I'm busy enough and life is crazy enough, I can't imagine the extra time it'd take to go to the gym.

Also, fitnessblender is an online site that offers literally hundreds of free exercise videos. Quality videos.

The only gym class I miss is spinning. I LOVED spinning, but hey, I have a bike and the real world. ;)

Have fun with all the family time! Yellowstone sounds gorgeous! My daughter visited on one of her trips up from Texas and loved it! She has great pictures. I would love to get in a hike or two before the snow flies. Last year that first one was the middle of September, so I should probably do it soon!

OK...so that's my senior picture...but that's really the last time I was trim that I have a picture of. I understand being embarrassed at the gym too. I feel I might try harder there but my husband leaves for work at 4:30am and I just can't leave and be home before that. I never find time in the evenings...so home it is. Have fun, Lisa!

I hope it is not to late to join. I am a 28 year old mom of 2 (ages 2 and 5 months). I gained a lot of weight in my pregnancies. I started out at 143 lbs and ended up over 200 lbs. The first 20 to 30 lbs fell off but then it stalled at 185lbs. Since then I have lost 24 lbs and am now at 161lbs. I would like to get to 140 lbs and then I will reevaluate. I will either try to lose more or switch to maintenance and focus on gaining strength. I am very motivated to get to my goal and am making good progress but at the moment I am struggling with being consistent with my workouts. I have been pretty tired lately and I only am able to workout after my 2 year old is in bed so sometimes I am just too lazy. I am still losing though because I have been really consistent with maintaining a caloric deficit.

Welcome, bbgraine! I totally understand...its too hard after a long day of watching kids/working. For me, workouts must happen in the morning.

Playing catch up. I don't have that many photos to choose from. The first is when I was newly pregnant and shows what I looked like before I gained the pregnancy weight. The second was taken a few weeks ago on a day where I was feeling like I was looking pretty good. Definitely heavier now but I'm making progress in the right direction.

I haven't really had time to read through this thread but I will later tonight so that I can get to know you lovely ladies. I am about to go mountain biking with my dad (my favourite form of fitness) so I am looking forward to some fun and a good calorie burn.

I wish I could work out in the morning but my kids get me up too early. I'd have to get up at 4:30. Hopefully one day they will sleep in.

You girls are so beautiful! I was looking at your Senior picture and thinking I don't even remember what I looked like in mine (in 1989 lol). Now I have to go dig out some pictures from back then!

Yes, I have to get up by 5:00...so I feel that struggle. I tried 4:30 but I was just too crabby by the end of the day.

Thank you, askmomof7! It's so crazy...people said I was a nerd and ugly and I believed them. I look back and think I was a pretty decent looking kid. That was 2000 for me. :)

Hello, hoping to join in. I have two kids, 3.5 years and 10 mos. I have always been extremely active and have eaten well but struggled to keep my weight where I wanted it since I was a teenager. My goal weight is around 145-150. With both my kids I got up to about 185-190 but dropped back to 165 very fast. Could never get below that 165 mark. This spring I trained and ran a half marathon and lost no weight and then did a month of "clean eating" very seriously and lost 3 pounds. 3 pounds!! After a month of no sugar, no bread, no dairy, no alcohol. I started eating heathy/normal after and put on 7 pounds in a month and am at 170. This app is now me getting very serious about making something happen. I'm never going to be thin but I want to be able to run around with my kids at the pool and feel comfortable and maybe someday wear a pair of shorts again :0 I have a pretty demanding job running a business with multiple clients and have had a very stressful year (my brother passed away and my husband has been out of work for 8 mos). Getting stuck with weight loss at the beginning of summer when I had been trying really hard to be in a comfortable place totally bummed me out and made me feel the weight of the other stresses much more. Losing weight is a small thing when big stressors are around, but I really think feeling confident and achieving goals in that area helps battle through the muck of the other stuff.

    Hi

I have one son aged 3. Gained 2.5 stone during pregnancy. I lost it but it keeps finding me. I would like to be 9 st 5lb. I work night shift which I think effects how I eat and just looking for something quick to eat. I've recently joined a gym. Just need to sort my eating habits out

I was the same after the birth of my first. I got to 170 and then I got stuck there. I did the whole30 and lost 7 lbs in a month and got down to 163 very briefly but then I gained it back and then some.

FRIDAY CHALLENGE! Share a fitness or nutrition tip, or maybe even a recipe.

Since it's Friday and people usually associate that with happy hour, I thought I'd share this yummy, pina colada green smoothie recipe (non-alcoholic of course!)

Hi! Welcome :) Have you tried meal prepping? I usually do this on Sundays and I try to make things that won't spoil too fast.

Fitness tip, if you HATE working out and it's a CHORE, then don't do whatever the heck you were doing. Find something you truly enjoy or at least like and then after a while you will look forward to your workouts. Remember hiking, biking, swimming, gym classes, weight lifting, online, beachbody, fitnessblender online and dozens of other possibilities.

Keep trying until you find what you love and then, try more, cause there just might be more active things that fit the bill.

If you can only walk, then walk!

At 269 in 1999, walking 15 minutes was all I could do, and I did it every day. Now, I live for amazing workouts.

    :)

FRIDAY CHALLENGE! Share a fitness or nutrition tip, or maybe even a recipe.

So, the most helpful tip that I've gotten is to allow yourself some unhealthy food sometimes. That seems a little counter-intuitive, but if I get super strict on myself then inevitably I'm going to fail. And WHEN I fail then I really go off the wagon and don't get back on for days, weeks, or even *gasp* months. If I give myself permission to, say, eat a little chocolate (within reason) and not say I've failed, then I can just keep going. I hope that makes sense.

Hi All! I'm a mom of three children (6,5,3 years old) in my 30's struggling with getting rid of the 70 pounds I gained cumulatively with my three pregnancies.

My main problem is lack of time, and lack of motivation. I need some accountability and support. Looking for people with similar struggles and goals to help support one another. Anyone interested in joining?

    STEP 1. Answer these questions:

    - How many kids do you have?
    - How much weight did you gain and have you lost any of it?
    - What is your goal?
    - What is keeping you from attaining that goal?

STEP 2. Friend everyone who joins this group so we can hold each other accountable with our progress.

STEP 3. Check in daily to participate in the daily challenge which will be posted here.

Thanks for joining! I'm looking forward to meeting new friends!

1.) I have 3 kids (9 year old girl, 2 year old boy, and 6 week old girl)
2.) When I got pregnant with my 2 year old I weighed 166lbs. Delivered him at 216lbs, when he was 10 months old I decided to lose weight. I went from 210lbs to 174, that's when I get pregnant with my youngest. I delivered again at 216lbs. I'm now 188lbs.
3.) My first real goal is to get down to 166lbs and I want to start lifting weights again soon and get my lifts back up to where they were before I got pregnant. I know I'll want to drop more weight after that though.
4.) Time, energy, and motivation are all challenges now. I didn't know it would be so hard to have a newborn and toddler. I had my 3rd csection and a horribly failed vbac so my body has taken a while to recover but I'm finally to the point that I can do body weight exercises..

My tip is to not concentrate solely on cardio workouts. Weight bearing exercises don't give a huge initial calorie burn, but overtime, they can help you retain lean muscle which is so important! It also helps to keep bones strong! So add strength training to your routine!!

My tip is to make it fun! Involve your kids! My girls love to be my little coaches and encourage me during my workouts. Plus it shows them you have to put hard work into achieving your goals!
