Headache from healthy eating?

I challenged myself to eat raw (only fruits and vegetables) all day today, and my head has been pounding all day. I have a feeling that my body is detoxing from all of the crap and chemicals that I have been consuming, but it's a little uncomfortable.
I am tempted to take an ibuprofen, but I don't think that it's the best idea.
Has this happened to anyone else on their healthy eating journey?

Maybe caffeine withdrawal? Might consider easing in to such a drastic (if it is) change.
No experience here. I'm still a pizza eater.3 -
Good news - you have already existing organs that your body uses to detoxify 24/7/365.
The headache is probably due to the fact that you are not feeding your body well enough and is adapting to the lack of essential macro nutrients one way or another.

Have a cup of joe! Detoxing is a made up thing to sell products.9

Did you eat protein and fats?3
-
Drink some water and pop an ibuprofen. Then see how it goes tomorrow.0
-
Possibly caffeine withdrawals if you're a coffee / energy drink drinker. Or as the others said a lack of nutrients0
-
Nope, there is no detoxing going on, and sorry, you are not eating healthily. The discomfort is your body yelling at you for not feeding it properly. Please listen.
Eating healthily is really very simple: Eat enough food, and good food. Get enough of everything you need, and not too much of anything. Eat food you like, and enjoy it.6 -
When I don't eat starchy carbs, I get a headache. A really bad one too! Might be this1

Raw always gets me. I can eat a salad or 2 but not all day.0

Were you eating a large amount of sugar or consuming a lot of caffeine before you did a 180? Because, although it's not a detox, it might be a withdrawal-type symptom of purging that kind of stuff all at once. I know when I've tried to "quit" caffeine in the past, I've felt this way. And before you went "raw", did you plan accordingly so you were still able to get appropriate nutrition??0

Did you get enough calories? You can get a headache from your blood sugar falling too low if you didn't eat enough food. If you regularly consume caffeine & you stop cold turkey this cold be the problem too.0

Just eating fruit and veg will probably leave you deficient in fat and protein... not healthy at all4
-
Where is your protein intake?1

Certain foods give me headaches/migraines. Nuts especially. Or could be hormonal?
Good luck!0 -
There is more to eating healthy than just eating fruits and vegetables...and there's nothing unhealthy about cooking said vegetables either...but eating well doesn't cause headaches...maybe you're having caffeine withdrawal...could be that only eating raw fruit and veg has provided very little in the way of calories...calories aren't some evil thing...they are a unit of energy and you have to provide your body with an appropriate amount of energy to run right...and why isn't an Ibuprofen a good idea? Just FYI, fats and protein are essential to eating healthy.

Sounds like caffeine withdrawal, or simply just not eating enough. Either of those give me headache. And Fanta but I'm assuming that's not the issue here!0
-
Why did you decide to eat only raw fruit and veg today? I would say you don't have enough food I always get a headache when I am hungry.0
-
Eating only fruits and vegetables probably means not much protein or fat. Eat some protein foods.
You might not be consuming enough calories either with just raw fruits and vegetables. Make sure you are eating enough.
If you are used to consuming caffiene and are not now it can cause you headaches as well.
Eating such a restricted diet is a worse idea than just taking a pain reliever when you have a headache IMO.0 -
You may need to eat more carbs. I once tried the Atkins diet and got so sick from 0 carbs it was unbelievable. You don't have to add a lot, but adding a serving in the past has helped. Hang in there.0

OP ate only fruit and veg... That's pretty much all carbs, so....? :huh:4 -
If you have a headache it's not from cutting out "crap" or a "detox." It could be caffeine withdrawal, as others have noted, or it could be unrelated to diet or a nocebo effect. It's not from cutting out bacon and eggs or whatever you cut out.
Only fruit and veg isn't "eating healthy." Eating healthy requires protein and healthy fats too. (Veg have some protein, not enough; avocado has some healthy fats, shouldn't be the sole source.)
Why do you think eating only raw fruits and veg is the healthiest way to go?3 -
Who told you this was "healthy eating?"3
-
Caffeine withdrawal, low blood sugar, or electrolyte imbalance.
100% raw food is not something you can just jump into from your normal diet without consequences (any drastic change from normal eating habits can cause discomforts of various sorts, easier on the body to make small sustainable changes over time).

Honestly, probably either caffeine or sugar withdrawal. Fruits and veggies are not the only "healthy" foods. Protein is great, and carbs are too, in moderation!0 -

You might want to make an alkaline water mix to speed up the process.
Think of it like passing kidney stones. They hurt coming out, but you're healthier when it is done.
This is a similar process in your metabolic and digestive systems.
I can't see the "sarcasm" emoticon, so - what the hell are you talking about??0 -

I am quoting this to show my support of the message. I can get headaches from lack of caffeine, I do love coffee and have also gotten them if I try to stop all sugar not found naturally in food.0
