    Flat tyre time today so pedalling was interspersed with pumping up, maintenance and grazing on the blackberries in the hedgerow. The month is still bitty with travels and working away from home so I'm pleased to find myself getting on the bike when possible at least.

    45.5 miles @ 16.1mph. Mostly quite a relaxed ride but did try a bit harder than usual on the hills (my weak point). Which is why I got 20 Strava PRs with a slow overall average speed.

    Usually I ride solo but did this ride with a really good hill climber, hence trying harder on the hills.
    I'm 168lbs and she's a petite 126lbs and I got a great lesson on the importance of power to weight ratio.
    (In other words she made me look right a right old plodder!)

    Sunday - 4.1 miles to the gym.
    Weds - 43.9 miles taking in 3 big climbs.
    Friday - 22 virtual miles on WattbikePro power meter trainer.
    Sunday - 58.7 miles, same big three climbs but with a different beginning and end route.

    Month to date = 174.2 miles.

    Weds ride - Three of the big Surrey hill climbs and got one PR and two second bests on them, 43.9 miles and 2500' of elevation on a perfect sunny afternoon. This short hill is plain nasty and hits over 18% grade - highlighted climb on the graph.

    Summer is over, it started getting cold and rainy, and I promptly got a cold :/
    Cycling in the rain when I'm already a little sick sounded like a stupid idea, so I took the car to work end of last week. But today the sun was back, and I couldn't resist - who would want to take the car on a cool and sunny autumn day?

    Back on the bike after holidays, had my first H&S* test on the way to work, when some d!ckhead pulled into traffic and left me with a 6" gap of road, which is considerably less than the width of my bike. Fortunately, (a) was able to grab 2 solid handfuls of brakes and (b) was dry so the brakes actually worked. I did manage to catch up to the driver at a set of lights a few hundred yards later and 'explain' exactly what they'd done wrong.

    Thu 01 - 32.57 miles
    Fri 02 - 19.93 miles
    Mon 19 - 23.73 miles

    MTD 76.23 / 250, YTD 1787.1 / 2500

    This week is going to be a real stop-start one, due to stuff. Going to be tight to get even that reduced monthly target.

    (* that's "heart and sphincter". Both passed (or allowed nothing to pass!) with flying colours :) )
