Eating more fat and less carbs/protein. I'm doing Ketogenic and I am surprised how I am not hungry as opposed to every other time I have restricted calories.6

Making sure you're hydration level is up. I read somewhere that most Americans have thirst cues confused with hunger cues.8

Strongly flavored foods. For me, vinegary foods work best. Pickles, pickled peppers, hot peppers, etc. Totally takes away my appetite.4

Don't try to suppress hunger. Eating takes the hunger away, but just temporarly. And that's not a bad thing. If you eat enough - enough calories and sufficient amounts of all the nutrients you need - hunger is manageable. You can learn to manage - even appreciate - your hunger. Hunger should be just as unpleasant as feeling horny, or looking forward to going on vacation, or waiting to enter the football field - if you enjoy sex, like traveling, or are a football player - is unpleasant.6

Coffee for me. The "over the counter miracle appetite suppressants" are a load of bunk, though.1

Coffee, sparking water, an Apple or Banana (to stave off hunger until your actual meal), Lemon water.1

If I'm truly hungry, I eat something. I find that eating enough protein helps me to stay full longer. If I just want to eat because I'm bored then finding something to take my mind off of it helps. Usually I go for a walk.0

Since my "hungry hours" start around 3pm, 50 or 100 mg of 5-HTP before lunch 4x week help keep my appetite/carb cravings under control. **Be sure to read up on 5-HTP before starting it, since it's not safe under certain circumstances. Run it by your doc - mine recommended it. Look for a reputable brand.**
Over the years I've tried a few prescription weight loss meds but the side effects were truly awful - not so with 5-HTP.
I agree with others' comments about light exercise and staying hydrated. A quick walk and a glass of water help reduce the desire to eat when it's not based on actual hunger. If you really are hungry and are consuming a reasonable # of calories, then maybe look at increasing your fiber and/or fat intake?0 -

Coffee black without sugar. Then if I feel I need to eat something I usually have a tomato or some radishes because it is very low in calories and it helps me until the next meal.0

Also, just staying busy. Even when I didn't watch what I ate, if I was busy, I didn't get hungry. If I was sitting around bored, I would think I was hungry and start eating.1 -

I agree!! But for me it's bitter. I eat a dark chocolate covered almond or coffee works too.

My cooking. Just smelling my food makes me lose my appetite sometimes...4

Eating more proteins and fiber will fill you up and keep you satisfied longer. That does work. Drug type suppressents can be dangerous over time. Quick fixes don't keep it off long term. My dr. said 'get distracted' when you get hungry. The cravings will be less and less the more you focus on something else. Hope it helps. I am working hard at this myself.1

coffee, chew spearmint gum, brush teeth.. but mostly.. pay attention .. or even take notes on the foods the leave you feeling full. I try to keep mental note on when I eat ...then i'm hungry a short time later. There is usually a pattern.
side note.. I'm now feeling very in control of my hunger, where i truly can't believe how I can wait to eat and have portion control.. but it has taken me being exercising and eating right for 60 days for it to kick in..1
