Just beans. No more waiting over the stove! Whats yours?

First day I did turkey bolognese and half a spaghetti squash at the same time and I was super impressed. Lentil soup is easily my favourite, all the flavour and texture in so little time.

I like to cook chicken breasts from frozen if I need it for another recipe, stock, hard boiled eggs, risotto, whole butternut squash to purée, soups, stews, and chilis.

    Pease allow me to vent.

Bought a cheap one to try it out. Used it once. Never again since. Didn't like how the food came out.

Don't like the guess work involved in using it and don't want to take the time to learn to properly gauge the timing.

Prefer to braise/roast conventionally even if it takes hours. Should give it away to Goodwill but keeping it "just in case" I actually need to cook something quick.

    End of rant. Thanks! :)

I love my Instant Pot. I made mashed potatoes in 35 minutes with it - all I had to do was mash them and add a bit of milk when I opened the pot. Can also have cooked pumpkin or squash in 20 minutes!

I use it a lot to steam veggies and to make rice. It makes a killer rice pudding as well (in 20 minutes or less). I tried a cheesecake though and it was a huge let down, but it might have been because of the recipe I used.

    Still trying things out though!

Beans on the Pot are the best beans

I mostly cook veggies and beans on a weekly basis.

I also use the Instantpot to make some yogurt

Greek yogurt, skyr, ricotta, paneer, and baked sweet/russet potatoes. That is about 90% of what I use mine for and it is running most days of the week to keep me in delicious dairy products. I maybe make potatoes with mine once or twice a month, but they are great when I do!

@CrabNebula Is making skyr too different from making yogurt? I've wanted to try it but am a little worried about spending the money on a starter tub and rennet tablets.

I got a Phillips all in one a few months ago and I looooove it! Beautiful tender meat that just melts in your mouth in 40 minutes!!

I make curries, roasts, oats and chicken.
And you can steam potatoes in 8 minutes and they are super yummy!

Wish I had have got one a long time ago.

I have a rice cooker/pressure cooker/crock pot. I could use some good recipes! For soups, stews, etc. Where should I look?

I realize this thread might have been better off in recipes but Pinterest is pretty great for recipes of all kinds. I just made this tonight: http://kneadtocook.com/pressure-cooker-red-lentil-curry/

I made a half yield so halved everything except the onions and garlic and canned tomatoes, and I used a half can of regular coconut milk because it's what I had. Really good and filling and my recipe came out at 175 cals a cup which for lentils is nice and room for rice. Very filling.

Rice, boiled eggs (18 at a time), chicken from frozen to cooked with lots of different flavorings in 30 mins, potatoes. Really good lamb tangine. I've even done bread in it. I'll have to look at that Americas Test Kitchen Pressure Cooker Perfection cookbook. http://www.hippressurecooking.com/pressure-cooker-recipes/ is usually good for recipes. At least you get an idea of what can be made in the Instant Pot.

Yes I've used my Instant Pot for a year now, and am waiting for USPS to deliver the second one I got on Black Friday. With 5 dogs nothing goes to waste, I have a turkey carcass in mine now making them broth.

All squashes are SO easy and fast to cook, I've been able to eliminate higher calorie potatoes in favor of butternut or acorn squash, in my dinners, no need to fire up the oven all the time. I also get that big bag of frozen chicken breast at Costco and toss about 8 in the pot with seasoning, they cook so fast, thats the chicken I use daily on my lunch salad.

Lentil, kale and vegetable stew is another lower calorie yet filling meal I've made myself, I can bump up the protein with my leftover turkey.

I made pumpkin custards in ramekins in it, with stevia instead of sugar. Tonight I'll take some organic apples that are about to go bad and applesauce them, a dollop of that on my pumpkin custard will be a nice dessert.

I make mini high protein egg muffins sometimes too, with spinach, a bit of cheese and a bit of bacon. Easy to microwave for a quick snack.

I made turkey and lentil chili recently too. So much faster and without the constant checking on and stirring of cooking on a stovetop. Basically I cook things I never would have cooked before, because its a bit faster and takes less babysitting, with the Instant Pot. Love it!

Just got mine yesterday. Made bourbon chicken with frozen breasts. Turned out good but won't make again due to all the soy sauce and honey..but i had the ingredients and wanted to try my ip!
Then made popcorn, boiled eggs. Today i made this:
Cooked some diced onion, garlic and 1lb turkey kielbasa on saute mode. Then added 1 c white rice, 1.5 c water, some chicken bullion, and garlic powder, chili powder and cumin, and a can of kidney beans. Manual 8 minutes. 10 min keep warm then released pressure. Turned out delicious! Could make sure kind of meal with chicken, black beans and taco seasonings. Yum!
Looking forward to continuing trying new things!

Oh that sounds good! I love the Hillshire smoked turkey sausage and this sounds a new way to prepare it.

I use a fuzzy-logic rice cooker. Similar in many respects, I think.
Makes oatmeal, porridge, bakes cakes, steams vegetables, whatever.

My favorite thing to make in it is short grain rice.

I have had my IP for just over a year and I use it every day!

I use it to steam veggies for dinner, but I also regularly cook:

    Turkey chili
    Low carb bolognese
Chicken crowns pressure cooked then slow cooked to use the meat for cold chicken & to make broth with the bones / veggies
    Brisket
    Pulled Pork
    Pressure cooker boiled eggs
    Rice pudding
    Fruits (Apple, Plum, Rubarb)
    Low carb cheesecake

I have not tried yoghurt, but I really want to. I am just struggling as I follow Keto / LCHF and plain yoghurt does not really appeal.

@CaliforniaAJ how do you cook fruits? I make applesauce all the time in the slow cooker, but I heard a pressure cooker wouldn't work?
