I posted this to Chit-chat, but it kind of got bogged down with all the games...I know this subject doesn't really belong under General, but it kind of does because my girls have all but disappeared since I've lost weight.

So I want to know everything!

    Why did you get it?
How much did it cost? Did you finance it or pay out of pocket?
Did you get silicone or saline? round or teardrop? smooth or textured?
Are yours under the muscle or above?
What size were you before and what size are you now?
Do you wish you had gone bigger?
Where was your incision? Is your scar visible?
How painful was it? Did you have a pain pump?
What kind of comments have you gotten?
How long did it take you to recover?

I'm seriously considering getting mine done and am trying to find out as much as I can, so please tell me all you can! Thanks!

I got mine done about 5ish months ago
I got them because I was a pear shape and always felt self conscious about my small chest & if i'm being honest, I wanted to look hot!! lol
3400 and I paid out of pocket
saline(I know that there is not a lot of risk involved with silicon, but the idea of having to get an MRI to make sure every two years was not something I wanted to deal with! Also, if the implant were to leak I might not know for a long time. where as with saline you know right away and that is something I needed for peace of mind!) I went with round, my chest is definitely perky, but they have settled a lot already and I feel like if I had goine with tear drop they wouldn't be as up as I wanted them. Smooth, just didn't see the advantage of the textured.
Under the muscle!! Only way to get a natural look!
    I started out at a 34 B(barely) and I am now a full 34 D
My surgeon actually thought I should go bigger, but I am so happy with them. They fit my body perfectly and I don't look like I am about to tip over! lol
My incicsion was under my breast. It is not too big and is fading every month. I initially wanted to with the incision in my under arm, but it just wasn't an option.
I did not have a pain pump and after the first couple of days I did not find it painful at all! It did feel weird(not painful) when i would have to use my chest muscles, but I got over it pretty quickly. Plus with a good bra, I was back to running in 3 weeks( thats not recommened, but I couldn't help myself!!)
Because I got a size that fit my body, the comments that I have gotten have all been positive. Most think that they look natural!
It only took me about 2 weeks to recover.

Bottom line is that it is a quick surgery and recovery time so if you can get a decent price then go for it! You will be very happy with them as long as you do your research and are sure of your decision regarding the size.

Why did you get it? Because i hated the state of my boobs after they ballooned from an A to an E cup in my first pregnancy, and then from a B to a FF in my two subsequent ones, and then back down again. They looked like spaniels ears.
How much did it cost? Did you finance it or pay out of pocket? £4200. My mum gave me 1k towards it and i paid 1k and my partner paid the other 2.2k
Did you get silicone or saline? round or teardrop? smooth or textured? silicone, round 420cc
Are yours under the muscle or above? partial under
What size were you before and what size are you now? i was a 32B and am now a 30E/30F, but they really dont look it. Because its a small band size, its probably the equivalent of a 34D or thereabouts, maybe smaller
Do you wish you had gone bigger? no
Where was your incision? Is your scar visible? crease incision My original scar is not really visible, but i had to have a re-op with uplift, because the implants didnt correct the sagging enough, but my surgeon did the re-op for free. I do have scarring now as i had a full lift, but its not too bad. Better than I expected, and if the scars heal as well as the original, theyll be nearly invisible by a year. Its worth it for the great shape they have now
How painful was it? Did you have a pain pump? The original op was a bit painful for a few weeks and i needed help with the kids etc because of the under the muscle placement. My re-op/uplift was fine though and i felt completely back to normal by the next day.
What kind of comments have you gotten? Hardly anyone has noticed tbh, not even my family apart from the ones ive told. I have noticed a couple of second glances here and there, but noones said anything. They look very proportional to the rest of my body though. I just look hourglass now instead of pear. I think if someone straight up and down or athletic looking just had big boobs it would probably be more noticeable than on someone who originally had out of proportion hips.

recovery - difficult to say. for the original op, i felt good after the first few days, but i needed help with lifting the children and pushing the pushchair for a good 4 weeks.
Its usually less than that if you have over the muscle, but i couldnt have that placement as i didnt have enough existing breast tissue to disguise the implant

bumping to read later...I definitely DON'T need implant (34D over here, though I wish mine would go down a size), but I know I'll probably be interested in a breast lift later in life lol

I got mine about 5 years ago. I have always had a booty and hips, but was flat on top. I didnt want to look like a porn star, I wanted to be evened out with the rest of my body. Mine was $5000 and I paid cash. MIne are silicone adn they are teardropped shaped, under the muscle. I went from a 32A to a 38D. I dont wish I had gone bigger, because I dont want to look like..."Hey, look at me...I got a boob job"...kinda thing. I just wanted to look more womanly and be able to fit in my clothes better. My incision is under the breast, and there is a hairline scar, my surgeon did an EXCELLENT job and you cant tell much at all. They fade with each year that goes by. The first week was pretty painful, what is hard about it, is that for the first few days, you cant life your arms up higher than your elbows and you cant lay flat in bed to sleep, so you have to sleep in a recliner. You will need help for the first few days, and you will need help bathing. After the first week, it's not too bad. I went back to work after two weeks. I get compliments all the time and I just fell better about myself. I feel more like a woman and I feel sexy and more confident. I can wear anything I want to now and it fits me properly. I dont regret it one bit! Im not a plastic surgery gal, it's all I will ever have done, and it's for sure somethinghat you need to research and find out EVERYTHING you can on the doctor. My surgeon has been around for decades and I did alot of research on the procedure AND him. I will warn you, they bounce and arent hard rocks. I have to wear a sports bra when I do ANY physical activity.

Is other surgery needed 5, 10, 15, 20 years down the line? Do they naturally start sagging again?

I tried to reply but I don't see it so will do it again.. I have the exact opposite problem and always have.. I wear an H and for the life of me I can't imagine anyone wanting large ones.. The older I get the more they droop and the more weight I loose the worse they get.. I went to a surgeon and he said he would have to use silicone to reshape them and that scares me.. My ins wont help pay for it either.. I can't tell you how much I would love to be able to put on a swim suit and go swimming but I can't....... He said a D is the smallest he can promise and that would be great but I can't afford it.. Trust me ladies...I have deep groves in my shoulders and constant back pain from them being so heavy... It's like putting a 10 pound bag of potatoes around my neck and carrying that around all day! I hate them! Has anyone had this surgery done?

you can go about 10-15 years before another surgery so long as nothing has happened and you are stil happy with the look of them. Over time hey can "settle" more than you might like, but they will not sag like natural breasts. The best way to keep them up is to wear a bra however much you can even if its just a sports bra!

if theres nothing wrong with them, you dont need to change them at all. Modern implants last a lot longer than the oiginal generation ones.

They say expect about 15 years out of them normally though

I'm surprised about how inexpensive they are. I thought only celebrities could afford them. lol

Got mine July 2010. Best decision ever.

    Why did you get it?
Because I had lost 40 pounds and my boobs looked like "old woman boobs". Loose skin, saggy, etc. I wanted them to be more full on top. My bras would have gapping areas on the top part where my boobs didn't fill them out.

How much did it cost? Did you finance it or pay out of pocket?
I paid $4000 in Seattle. I paid cash for 1/2 and financed the other 1/2 with CareCredit. 18months, no interest.

Did you get silicone or saline? round or teardrop? smooth or textured?
425cc round smooth saline. moderate profile

Are yours under the muscle or above?
Under the muscle. More natural looking and less chance of visible rippling effect.

What size were you before and what size are you now?
32C before surgery. 32DD-34DD after surgery, depending on the bra.

Do you wish you had gone bigger?
Sometimes I wish I had gone 450cc, but I'm happy with what I have. My husband says they look very natural. 25cc is only the amount that would fill a shot glass so it's not that much of a difference anyway. I think a lot of people wish they'd gone bigger afterwards. I think that is mainly because after surgery you're so swollen and then when the swelling goes down and they're not as big you're kind of like, "man..." lol

Where was your incision? Is your scar visible?
My incision is under the breast in the crease. It's about 1.5" long.

How painful was it? Did you have a pain pump?
The pain wasn't unbearable. I took the prescribed percacet for a couple days and by the 3rd day I wasn't taking any pain meds. I was doing the stretches daily that the doctor recommended. That helped tremendously with the tightness. I don't even know what a pain pump is. haha

What kind of comments have you gotten?
I haven't had any negative comments at all. Some people didn't even realize I had implants because of how natural they look. They are big and full, but natural.

How long did it take you to recover?
I walked a lot and did light cardio on the elliptical and treadmill a few days to a week after surgery and I think that helped me heal quickly. They said if you get up walking around it will help and it did. I was sleeping on my stomach a couple weeks after surgery.
It felt weird doing chest exercises a few months after surgery, but you get used to it. I'm totally comfortable now doing push ups and bench press. Although, when my chest muscles flex it does look a little funny. Haha!

I paid extra for a 10 year warranty as well. If they deflate or anything I get new ones at a very discounted price.

I disagree with the statement of them not sagging like natural breasts. They definitely will if you don't support them properly. They are heavy just like natural breasts and will pull on your skin. Breast implants are not an internal bra that will help them stay lifted. You should support them as much as you would natural breasts to avoid sagging.

This topic is discussed at length on bodybuilding.com in the women's section. There are definitely disadvantages to them if you're physically active. If you want to lift at all even remotely heavy, under the muscle is a bad choice since you risk rupture and shifting. That's why most figure models go with over the muscle, but that looks very fake. It's a trade off they make for competition.

As for me, I wouldn't want to look fake, but I don't want to give up my lifting regimen, so no surgery for me. Since I've lost weight (45 pounds), and with my age (49), mine don't look too good, but the alternatives aren't worth it for me. I just do the best I can with a good bra. Do your research and think about it for a while. Best of luck with whatever you decide!

Why did you get it? I breastfed 2 kids for 2 years, I was only 27 years old and was very unhappy with the state of my affairs.
How much did it cost? Did you finance it or pay out of pocket? I had to get a lift, so it was more than usual, $6800, paid up front.
Did you get silicone or saline? round or teardrop? smooth or textured? Saline, round, smooth, 330cc
Are yours under the muscle or above? Under
What size were you before and what size are you now? 34B now a 32C (full, can wear a D in some bras)
Do you wish you had gone bigger? No, they are perfect. I'm very athletic and I can "go both ways" with the size.
Where was your incision? Is your scar visible? Anchor but without the bottom, very silver, can hardly see it now
How painful was it? Did you have a pain pump? It was 5 out of 10 for pain, but most of that pain subsided after 3 days. I took Percocettes for a week
What kind of comments have you gotten? They are the right size and perfect for me!
How long did it take you to recover? 2 weeks total, but the first 3-5 were the worst. After that I was able to hold my (then 16-month old) with no issues.

    TOTALLY WORTH EVERY BIT

I've had mine for almost 7 years now and I have absolutely no sagging. They are just as nice as when I first got them done (once they settled, of course). I did have a lift, so mine were shifted higher than previously. That might be a reason.

under the muscle dont tend to sag. The muscle holds them in place.
Over the muscle have more of a risk of sagging, but no more than natural breasts. On the plus side, overs look more natural if you already have breast tissue to cover the implant, and they are generally softer and move more like a natural breast.
Unders give a much more natural look if you have no existing breast tissue, like i did, but you run the risk of them not feeling as soft, because you feel muscle under the skin rather than fat. They feel firmer. A lot of people like that firmness though

Reading all of this not only helps the OP but me as well! I've been wanting a boob job for a while now as I lost weight so my boobs have sagged slightly & one is bigger than the other [I know that's pretty normal, but mine is really noticeable...].
I'm currently a 32E [in Katie Price bras, sometimes bigger, sometimes smaller, depends where I shop!] & I want to go up to a decent 32F. I know it's not much bigger but considering one of my boobs is a lot smaller [1 & a half cup sizes], it would even everything out perfectly. Plus I'd obviously get them lifted, I miss them being on my chest, not around my waist... And where I've got quite wide hips, I think going a bit bigger while stop it being so obvious. I'd look balanced, not bottom heavy.
Anyway, you've all helped me as well so thanks! :D
