So I legit just watched an 1 hour video of Dr.McDougall's "The Starch Solution" video on YouTube and honestly it was a HUGE eye opener to how majority of society has turned into obesity. And how in B.C they all ate grains and stayed in shape. I'm thinking about trying this out! For those who know what I'm talking about and has tried this out, can you tell me your guys stories about it? Does it work?

Your going try out a B.C lifestyle? Wow good luck, even the thought of washing 1 load of clothes in B.C times would have me reaching for a pot of ice-cream.
Just think about the walk down to a river, stream or well carrying it all by hand, no car. Rich people may have had a donkey. Then to wash it, rinse it etc. That is some calorie burn. Then to carry it back wet, even heavier with water weight.
Then all the other chores they had to do or working in fields etc all day. It is not surprising they had almost non existent obesity.

The only way to lose weight is a calorie deficit. Trying to eat like people from 2000 years ago isn't going to change that.20 -

You strike me as someone lurching from one fad to the next ...well st least you remind me of what I used to be like .."it's worth a try" always denoted short term lack of commitment and yo yo weight loss to me
You may find it better to focus on your calories, ignore all fads, and simply find a dietary plan that works for you..those go to foods that you really enjoy, the ability to eat in public without major food rules, a variable nutritious diet and something that becomes natural

Going vegetarian/vegan and whatever eating style you abide by then is not by itself gonna help anyone lose weight. But it can be easier opting for "diet-friendlier" choices while veggie.
I believe in counting calories but I also try not to restrict my fruit/veggie intake much at all. But my daily calorie goals are pretty flexible anyway.2 -
Big mistake! Been there - done that. If you are young you will lose weight, but you also lose strength and muscle, gaining fat. If you are over 40, don't even THINK it! You'll get fatter than heck, and probably Diabetes.10

I don't know.... My ancestors were northeastern European. I don't think they ate many grains up there. Some sure, but farming grass was not common.
As someone with insulin resistance, I know that diet would not work for me. Good luck with it.3 -
I tried it briefly before I realized that weight loss was a matter of calories in versus calories out. A low fat diet (which this is) isn't for me. I feel hungrier and have less energy when I restrict my fat.7

If you ate like people from 2,000 years ago - including long periods of scarcity because of crop failures, etc. - and you spent all day doing physical labor like people from 2,000 years ago, you would probably lose a lot of weight.
There was nothing magical about what they ate. The secret to the lack of obesity in those days was both that the food supply was not stable enough to allow people to eat in excess for prolonged periods, and pretty much nobody was even close to sedentary because of so much manual labor.25 -

No it doesn't, well abject simplification is misleading ..glucose as a source of energy in the body is the result of food, not a specific macro alone, getting broken down in the digestive system and stored as glycogen (yes, still a major simplification and avoiding entire discussion on ATP)

You cannot eat as much as you want. I can guarantee you that there are overweight high carb vegans out there, even plant based ones.
Yes, you can get fat eating vegetables if you go over your TDEE. Someone who is quite petite and older has a lower TDEE and can easily gain if all she ate were vegetables.

You can eat until satiation. It works, and has reversed my type 2 diabetes in 3 months. Lost 20 in 1.5 months so far. No meat, dairy, animal products or oil. It is a low fat, plant based diet based around plant starches with the inclusion of veggies and fruits. Calorie density is of big importance. 200 calories of oil does not fill your stomach and is way easy to eat. 200 calories of veggies stuffs you up. Eliminating oils and dairy and meat allows your body to heal it's arterial damage and let's your body use up the fat it has stored up.
