    Good morning. I had a great weekend. Lots of accomplishments with my staying active. I kept away from the sugar this weekend and I am so proud of myself. I did feel like something sweet last night. So i got a few raw cashews and some dried cranberries and that satisfied my feeling. Looking forward to another fabulous week.

    Good morning and happy Tuesday. It is a great day. I was able to put on a pair of corduroys that were so tight a few weeks ago and today that was not the case. I like when I can get back into my clothing. I have a hard time getting rid of stuff and I was starting to buy larger size clothing and that was making me feel bad. I don't want to go backwards. I am moving forwards and really working on myself.

    Good morning. Today is another beautiful day. I feel very festive. I am able to get into a pair of pants that were tight a few weeks ago. It feels good when you feel good in your clothing. It was beginning to be depressing that everything i put on was tight. I know that I didnt get this way over night and I will not lose weight overnight. Its a daily practice. Yesterday I went to a Holiday Party and I was feeling hungry. So I ate before the party and I was able to socialize and then leave. There were many temptations but I didn't give into it. Yea!!!!

    So today I had an assessment with a personal trainer at my gym. We did a bunch of things to see what I am capable of doing and what are my goals. It was interesting and I am going to take some suggestions. He said that my diet could use more protein. So more salmon, lentils, cheese and whatever else has protein. I think it was helpful. I go back in two weeks to get a workout with him. I know that they would like folks to purchase personal training sessions but that can be very costly. So I will continue with what I am doing and incorporate more of the classes that my gym has to offer. That is the best that I can do.

    @jenfra123 - I think that's a good call.
    The way I see it, a personal trainer is someone with a vast knowledge. It definitely helps when you tap into that knowledge bank, but ultimately it is a business. When I look at your steps, cycling, and stair climbing the first thing that comes to mind is...is what you're doing right now helping you make gains toward your goals. If the answer is yes then stick with it. Save their knowledge for when you plateau.

    @jeanniewes - hope you feel better soon. That flu going around stinks. I had it a few weeks ago...great when it's over. Rest up and get yourself healthy. It's a time to give yourself some grace and understanding for not necessarily making all your goals.
    @jenfra123 - that's exactly what one trainer told me to do...only hire him once a month or so to get a new plan, and then work it in between sessions. He completely understood tight budgets, which was cool. And congrats on your NSV!! I love it when I can get into smaller sizes. I just had a similar victory and it was glorious!

    Well, I finished the Amazing Race Challenge for the fall, and our team tied for first place. It was a hard fought battle (which is why I did the 9.11 miles on Sunday). @MiamiSeoul was one of our superstars on the team, usually getting over 1000 minutes of working out every week (I was more in the 600-700 minutes range). We all have admitted that we're all exhausted after the 8 weeks of pushing ourselves, but we're all looking forward to the next one, hopefully in late Jan/early Feb. I did my usual workout on Monday at the gym, but no miles. I did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING yesterday, but think I needed the break.

    However, today, the weather was glorious again (it was yesterday too), and I got my new board out. Water smooth, light wind from the south, after the fog lifted, it was a nice sunny day, but not too hot. Didn't see much while out, just a few rays and sharks. The pelicans were divebombing into the water a lot today. My board is looking to be consistently faster than my old boards by about 4 minutes per mile. Got to try the new paddle today, but other than being a bit lighter, it didn't seem to be much different than my old paddle...though my shoulders seem to be less sore, which would be a good thing. I even walked to the store after my shower....but I needed to get some cat food as I had none for my beasts for dinner. All in all a good week so far!

    Good morning. Thanks for the support. I am feeling good today. Last night I was out and I started to feel like I needed a snack. So I had bought some nuts with raisin mix but it had salt and I couldn't eat that. I need to stay away from salt. Border line high blood pressure. So I remembered what the trainer was telling me about protein. So there was a healthfood store and as soon as I walked in there I saw these simple protein chips-spicy chilli. They were right on time and it reminded me of eating potato chips but the calories and protein was spot on.

    I liked listening to the trainer yesterday but yes it is a business. I am just going to continue on my little journey.

    Today is our potluck at work. Would you believe they had no salad or veggies on the menu. So I was going to bring my own salad. I need some type of veggies. So they decided to get a 1/2 tray of salad which was a great idea once I had brought it up to there attention. So I will navigate through the pasta and chicken and beef selections today. :wink:

    WOO-HOO Fab Fives!

    My diet & exercise has been way off. The next race can't come soon enough, but your summary is spot-on as far as typical endurance & competition/challenge attention span! I'm beat.
