Never heard of it but the plan's name raises red flags. Can you give an overview of what it is?6

Diet by Haylie Pomroy. 4 week program. First 2 days carbs and fruits, next 2 proteins and veggies last 3 all of the above plus healthy fats. Started monday and lost 6 lbs so far. No caffeine, alcohol or sugars1

Probably not but 6 pounds is 6 pounds. I feel like i have more energy too0

If you are losing weight it's because you are eating less calories. You can't change your metabolism much even over the long term, and certainly not in 4 weeks. If following a diet plan helps you get started then that's great, but those rules are unnecessary.13

It sounds like an awful lot of hoop jumping to me.
The way weight loss works is very simple, and people who want to sell books want you to think it's complicated.
I'm a post-menopausal woman with a bad thyroid.
I should be an ideal candidate for such a book. I didn't need any such plan. A simple calorie deficit worked just fine.
If you feel that eating this way is giving you a boost, have at it. Can you see yourself doing it long-term?
I suggest you hang around here, and read the forums. Especially the stickies with all the good information like this one. There are many others.12 -

A diet plan created by someone who apparently has no idea what sugar is . . . definite red flag.12 -
I think the OP might mean no additional refined sugars etc. Obviously carbs break down I to sugars and fruit have a natural sugar content. But if a program like this is a first step into a healthier eating habits, then it's likely to make a big difference (although I agree that's it's more that there is a calorie deficit anf healthier food involved). One thing I've noticed (having tried a number of diets over the years) sometimesdoing a program like this kicks your digestive system into gear in a new way. Which does help with weight loss in some aspects plus would make a person feel like their body is running better or 'faster'.0

Also, your statement "Havig tried a number of diets over the years" indicates that none of them have had lasting success, likely because you are falling for these woo based diets that have convinced you that your body needs a jump start. It doesn't. Things like "Fast Metabolism Diet" filled with arbitrary rules is just a way to profit off of people's belief that there has to be something more to weight loss than a sustained calorie deficit...

I lost 30 pounds in two months on the undiagnosed celiac disease diet! There was lots of bathroom running involved too.1 -
I read the first part of this book. Luckily, I don't remember much about it - just that she obviously either had no clue what she was talking about, or that she was intentionally lying to/misleading readers.5

Mine was prior to diagnosis, didn't know what was going on, I became terrified to eat because I knew it'd land me in the bathroom for a while. People would ask me what I was doing to lose the weight, I didn't have the heart to tell them the truth. Was yours before you were diagnosed or during a flare up?
@jetphan1969 Two things I found that have helped me lose weight are honesty and consistency. Honestly log what you're eating, staying within your calorie goals, and doing it ALL THE TIME. How do you plan to eat after your 4-week program is finished?2 -

@MsAmandaNJ Just prior to diagnosis though I was very very ill days away from perforating and was hospitalized straight from my colonoscopy for 34 days on TPN, etc. I was going 30+ times a day and the little I could eat went straight through me. I had ignored symptoms forever thinking it was IBS. I sustained that weight loss for 11 months post diagnosis even while on steroids and eating because of malabsorption but eventually gained it back when the meds started working and pulled out of that flare.0 -
The doctor I work with, who is slim, and his wife, who is also slim, started this diet. They both have lost about 10 pounds over the past few weeks. He also told his cholesterol improved. When I was talking to his wife it sounded like lots of vegetables and lean protein, but she wasn't eating gluten or dairy. I encouraged her to take a calcium supplement and make sure to get a DEXA scan to make sure her bones are strong.
I think it is very gimmicky but it seems to be working for him. As long as it is sustainable, promotes portion control, lots of vegetables, fruit, lean protein, healthy fats (nuts, avocado) and it works for you, I say go for it.1 -

It's not really about portion control though. It's just a variant of an elimination diet. New ideas to sell a book or ad space on a website. Eliminate enough foods (in any given day) and you don't need to be too concerned about portions.
The reason I am fat is because my portions are too big, not because I eat protein & fruit in the same day (gasp!).
Seriously an MD using this diet......I've always read that MD's had very little training in the area of nutrition.....and here's the proof.
"Slim" people are less likely to need lifestyle changes.....short temporary gimmicks for a few vanity pounds.4 -
Just read through all of the comments and was surprised to see all of the negative comments about this diet. Its working really well in my case and I'm down a total of 8lbs in 10 days. It's funny how some people are only interested in negative comments and imposing their thoughts on something that they havent even tried. After I reach my goal I will continue to follow the basics of this diet.1

I'd be very interested in updates from you as you progress, to see what your rate of loss is on this plan vs a more traditional calorie tracking method like MFP's. And also how it goes when you transition into maintenance/maintain. Curious to see how sustainable a plan like this actually is. Please keep us updated!0
