Peoples opinions on buying Fitbit or not????

I am debating whether to buy a Fitbit charge 2
Or just to save my money and not bother are they good and worth the money or not??

It all depends on what you want. If all you want to do is count steps your phone can do that.
The Fitbit app is a little more social and you can set up challenges and badges for yourself.4 -
I have lost a lot of weight without one. But I think I may get one simply because it seems like a fun gadget to have.1

I have a daily goal of 6,000 steps and it sure is gratifying to get a buzz at about noon every day when I hit my goal.3

I want it for my steps counter as phone is not accurate enough I want it for the heart rate as interested to know what it is at certain times when I feel sick and I want it for the sleep pattern. Xx2

I've had the flex for a couple of years, and just got the alta for Christmas. For me, it's worth it. The reminders to get up and move are nice, as some days my job has me tied to a desk. And I can be slightly competitive with myself. I'll get up out of bed at 11 pm to walk around my house, if I'm only short 100 steps to hit my goal. It's satisfying to watch the goals turn green as you meet them each day. I really think it depends on the person though. I geek out on the stats, so I regularly check, and modify goals if I feel I'm meeting them too easily. If you are like that here, with your log, then I think you'd like the fitbit.7

I prefer the Garmin Vivosmart HR. It's waterproof and bit less expensive than the fitbit. It also has a touchscreen so you can interact with your phone (play music, decline or answer calls, see the text message) than with the fitbit.9

I have the fitbit charge and I love mine. Of course its all personal opinion, but I love that it has step and heart monitors. It is very accurate. It also has execises built in for you like ab work outs, etc. Plus it tracks if you are biking, treadmilling, etc. Also plays your music for you. I get 10,000 steps a day and this helps me achieve that. Mine never leaves my wrist unless in water. I love mine and I use it every single day so it has been money well spent on my part. It is a tool and if utilized, its great!5

I've liked having my flex since I can track my activity through the day. I'm planning to upgrade to the Alta though for some of the newer features that mine doesn't have (the watch and notification push would both be nice features to have at work). I also connect with friends and family so we can motivate each other to move more.3

I've had a fitbit zip for about 3 years and was happy with it but this Christmas I upped to a fitbit charge2. I love it. I'm a gadget person though and I like that it reminds me to get up and move on the hour and tracks my sleep along with my steps. It buzzes me when I meet my goals.2

I love mine. I had vivoactive hr, but garmin day calculations are very unreliable. I returned it and went back to fitbit.

In my opinion it's not worth it. All it does is count how many times you swing your arms in a day not your steps. You aren't going to get any device that will accurately track your steps. If you want something that accurately reads your heart rate then you should probably go with something that has a chest strap and only use it for workouts, as those HRM are made to only be used for workouts. I have been told that the Fitbit's heart rate part is very inaccurate and when it tells you a calorie burn it is way off from what your calorie burn actually is. All I have seen that it is good for is to use it as a smartphone. I honestly don't see the point, my HRM should be a HRM not a phone. I don't need to read my emails and answer my phone during a workout.3

I had a fitbit charge, loved it...then my dog ate it. I just got a fitbit blaze...I love it. It gets me off my butt. I love how you can compete ( friendly) it gives me reminders. I think its worth it. But, thats my opinion...and you know what they say about those. Let me know if you get one, we can be fitbit friends2

I've had a Garmin Vivosmart and thought the software was *kitten*. Overcounted calories and did a bunch of other weird stuff. But I wanted a waterproof one than sync'd here so I bought a VivoActive hr. Much better. Calorie burn seems about 20% overstated for a treadmill run when compare to a chest strap, which is closer than the Vivosmart was (probably 40-50% overstated). Heart rate much closer to the strap. And far more flexible in what it can track.
Downside to Garmin is they don't have the same social network that Fitbit does. But, for me, that's not an issue. Might be a bigger issue for others who are more into social media stuff than I am.1 -
Not a fan. It's way too inaccurate after owning a BodyMedia FIT (R.I.P). It's also very uncomfortable.3

I have the Flex and am probably getting the Charge 2 just because it has a clock.
I only use my Fitbit for one main reason.............to see if I'm being active.

Love my Fitbit(s). I've had 3 over the years, currently a Charge HR. Whatever its step and HR accuracy, it does accurately predict my TDEE and I lose as predicted when I eat to its numbers.3

They said steps. Nothing to do with BMR. No idea if it is true or not, but if it is showing steps when the person has not taken a step all day, that's an issue.1 -

i found it pointless. counting calories and eating back slightly less than half calories burned per mfp estimates served me better.3

Charge 2 doesn't have the heart rate option, as far as I know. That would be the Charge HR. (Then again, my knowledge might be outdated--I bought my Fitbit about 1.5 years ago).

I got my charge 2 end of October. I love it. I am not a great fitness fan only exercise I get tends to be walking, I love the step challenges they have I like to see how long it takes me to complete the challenge then later see if I can do it in less time2

I have the HR2 fitbit- Its a Movement tracker and keeps me Motivated I love the challenges. The one thing I really like about it is the app I can look at my activity over the course of a month and see weaknesses in my activity. Wednesday and Saturday were my slower days so I added activities to those days and now average over 17,000 steps ( movement) a day for months at a time. In the summer I average over 20,000 steps a day4

I think the poster was confusing steps with calories burned. 2 very different things.3 -

Mine has never given me extra steps. The only issue with it is it doesn't count steps properly if your arm isn't moving (if you're pushing a stroller or holding a dog leash) When I'm doing those things I put it in my pocket and it's accurate.4 -
Many of my friends have them, but I didn't really care to count my steps, so I wasn't interested in getting one. Then I received my Fitbit Charge HR in August as a gift.... and I LOVE it! As previous posters have said, I love getting the buzz at the end of the day when I reach my goal of 11,000 steps. I love seeing all the "green" stats on a good day when I have achieved all goals. When I am close, it motivates me to get moving and reach the goal. I also love how it syncs to MFP. Never thought I would love it so much, but I do.2

I have the Blaze. I think it's accurate for steps, but I do not feel it is on my lifts. It does not track the stair master like I thought it would. Also, I found better tracking with my Polar Watch for lifts. FitBit users can feel free to add me.2
